Disney World with an older family member

A friend brought his mother to the parks. They rented an ECV from an outside company. She didn't use it all the time, sometimes she would park it, go on a couple nearby attractions, and then come back to it. It allowed her to use it when she needed it, leave it when she didn't, and still make it...

    Genie+ and Rope Drop Possible?

Genie+ does not require a resort reservation. Just a park ticket and reservation for the park that day. (And if booking for a park other than the one you have a park reservation for, you must have a hopper ticket) Disney hotel guest, off-site hotel guest, local FL resident, all have access to...

Genie+ and Resort Early Entry Strategies and Tips

The one error in your times is that if the park doesn't open until 9, you won't be able to book your second G+ until 11, even if you wait to book your first until 8 rather than 7. The two-hour timer doesn't start until park open. -Rob

Oswald Ears being sold in DCA

I realize this is a resurrection of a 10-year old thread, but I'm actually just as curious about the original topic as the resurrector. My bf and I went to Disneyland for his first visit ever back in December and he was crushed to find the Oswald ears were nowhere to be found. -Rob

How much weight do I need to lose for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey?

It's the seats on either end of the bench. I'm only 5'11", 245 lb with a solid but padded build, but I have a long torso and have to use the "big boy seats" on Forbidden Journey and Hulk. In my case it's because it puts my shoulders closer to the pivot point of the restraint and the bar comes...

    Are MagicBands Needed?

The worldwide chip shortage has really been giving Disney headaches for a while regarding MagicBands. Normally you'd have 50+ styles to choose from online, and even more in the parks. https://www.shopdisney.com/parks/shop-by-category/accessories/magicband/ I see what you mean about the...

Genie+ and Resort Early Entry Strategies and Tips

Yes, one person can book Genie+ for their entire group. As for Universal, depending on when you're going in November, you might not need Express. Unless you want to power through everything in both parks in one day. -Rob

Genie+ and Resort Early Entry Strategies and Tips

The only thing on-site guests get a jump on are the Individual Lightning Lane purchases, which are separate from Genie+. All guests can make their first G+ selection at 7am, regardless of where they're staying. -Rob

Genie+ and Resort Early Entry Strategies and Tips

You won't save as much time over waiting in Standby for your $15 Genie+ fee at those parks. Touring Plans did a data-driven deep dive into it a few months back: https://touringplans.com/blog/how-much-time-can-genie-save-me/ While you *can* save time using G+, it's up to you to decide if it's...

    Halloween Horror Nights 2022 (Sep 2 - Oct 31)

Last year I think they were released relatively late, but that was likely because they weren't sure whether a "real" year of HHN was going to happen. But in 2019 I know we bought ours in mid-June. -Rob

using genie+ on check in day

Genie+ selections you get what's currently being distributed with no way to select a time. If you want it to be later, you have to keep refreshing until people have booked earlier slots and the time advances to what you want. The only thing you can specifically select a time range for is...

    Are MagicBands Needed?

Since you won't be using Genie+ the only thing you'll be using the tickets for is park entry. In that instance just choose to either get physical tickets mailed to you if your ticket source offers it, or the Will Call option if direct from Disney. If you end up buying e-tickets you can stop by...

    Account for MDE

I typically suggest that every adult and older teen create their own account on MDE and then link to each other as friends. It gives the most flexibility now and in the future. The important part is how you handle children or anyone who *won't* have their own account. You should choose *one*...

    Are MagicBands Needed?

It's no more "lame" than it has been for any off-site guest for the past decade. You're in no different place than you were before the pandemic trying to enter the park or use FP+ when you needed a MagicBand or a physical ticket. 🤷‍♂️ The only thing that's changed is that the...

    Are MagicBands Needed?

Depending on where you buy your tickets you may be given the choice of getting physical cards mailed to you. Otherwise, you can stop by guest services or a ticket window outside your first park and pick them up. If you want to get them before your first morning, you can also stop by guest...

    Are MagicBands Needed?

I would go with the free physical card or a purchased MagicBand over the digital tickets in the app. The only place where tickets must be used by the person they're linked to is at the front gate. Write each person's name on the back of the card. At rides, if everyone is always tapping into...

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

I believe today is a Starcruiser day on Batuu. (Assuming the every other day pattern hasn't been disrupted in the past month) Also, how do they prioritize two groups heading into the same LL? -Rob

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Just got the alert that it has reopened (or possibly opened for the first time today, not totally sure). Posted wait has already ballooned to 210 minutes, presumably to account for the flood of morning Lightning Lanes that will descend momentarily. -Rob
