MAGICal DLP News, Rumours & Thoughts

Just back from a half term break and I’m conflicted by the experience. Us and the kids love going to Disney and had an incredible two weeks in Orlando a few years ago. We went to Paris in the knowledge that it’s a scaled down version (we went to Paris 7 years ago), but I feel the extent to...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

You’re right, we do have a lot of good days out and of course none are too far away in relative terms. Might need to do a few extra domestic weekends away

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Thanks. Tbh I was given a price for next year and it was very expensive. For us to stay on site I’d personally want “Free” dining to be included again. Next years package rate was more than the 2020 holiday, despite not having the DP. I wonder whether the plan is to keep prices high for a...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

We were flying on 14th August with a 7 day cruise then Beach Club. FWIW the cruise is still scheduled to sail, though one port has already confirmed it will stay shut. For quite a while the optimist in me thought we’d be able to make it.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

I’m gutted that we had to cancel our trip today. Coming from the UK it may be that it would never have even been possible. Whether or not we felt safe from an infection point of view, the diminished experience would not have justified the cost. I’ll be fascinated to hear reports of what the...

POLL: When are you planning to return to Walt Disney World?

Not feeling confident about our trip on the 22nd to 29th of August. Been reading about face masks, reduced hours etc but for the money we will pay it doesn’t seem great

    Rumor Character greet changes coming

The difference for me is that in my eyes the 3 pillars of what you pay for are rides, characters and parades.Special events are just that “special” I.e above and beyond so charging seems to me to be less of an afront. Charging to see a character is therefore double charging for a fundamental...

    Rumor Character greet changes coming

If this is true I’d be very sceptical. Having paid a lot of money to get in it’s not on that you should then be expected to pay to have a picture with a character. I shudder to think how that would add up for a family with multiple kids all wanting pictures with multiple characters! Surely...

    Any truth in this

Rather than limit hours I would (once they feel compelled to open) go in the opposite direction. I’d open all parks for all hours but limit severely the number of people allowed in each. This could be either hotel only guests or not (provided the maximum occupancy wasn’t met). By having all...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

This should seriously put things into context for people. Yes, we are all being asked to make sacrifices, but they’re nothing like the sacrifices previous generations have had to make. In all honesty, I’m grateful that my “sacrifice” is to stay home with the family spending time together.

POLL: When are you planning to return to Walt Disney World?

As part of a trip from the UK we’re due last week of August so I’m cautiously optimistic this will be possible. The week before we’re on a Carnival Cruise so fingers are crossed on 2 fronts! if we were any sooner than August I’d be a lot less optimistic

    Top 5 Restaurants at WDW

I would add Crystal Palace. All the windows make for a beautiful setting, the characters and the procession are great, and the meat was lovely!

Really like Garden Grill. The beef in particular was fantastic and the revolving is a nice gimmick

    Sci-Fi Dine and Other Questions

Beaches & Cream is likely another I’ll keep an eye out for a decent time at. Currently it’s all very early or very late

    Sci-Fi Dine and Other Questions

Thanks for the above replies, I’ll certainly keep an eye out for better availability. I’ve already found one slot for 15:55 which whilst it’s not really an established meal time, will at least mean we don’t fall asleep at the meal! We got the “free” DDP as part of our UK based package. With our...

    Sci-Fi Dine and Other Questions

When we visited in August 2018 we ate at the Sci Fi restaurant and the kids loved it. Back then I got a reservation without any issues. In anticipation of our visit this August I’ve had a look at available tables and over an entire week there was only 21:00 hours available. Whilst I’ve been...

Is Disneyland Paris better than the parks at WDW?

I really can’t look beyond the fact that when we went to Paris (albeit in February) it was bitterly cold. I’d take August heat in Orlando over that any day. We also found there to be no comparison whatsoever in terms of friendliness of staff. The staff in Paris were nowhere near those in Orlando
