    "What would Walt do?"

While it's interesting to read the "what-if's", it is impossible to compare the business environment of Walt's time or even project his actions 10+ years into what was a devastating decade (1970's) for business. The truth is the company was lucky that Eisner came around when he did (thanks in...

    Booking Windows

This is the biggest difference from the past: used to be you could buy tickets at any time...but now you need to make sure there is park availability or you are wasting your time (and money). We haven't had any issues booking parks (yet), but some ticket types are "dated" in that there is an...

    EasyWDW Passes Away

I used to read easyWDW regularly as well; no one combined his level of statistics/analytics with such witty commentary. Unfortunately, the data/info in his posts becomes out-of-date without a regular refresh (which is what brings you back). Josh will be sorely missed.

Trip Report The Good, The Bad, and The Ian -- Now, With Bonus February FARTS Trip

If you're interested, here's the link to register (https://gktw.org/discon/tickets.php). There is a "convention" portion and a "private party" portion...but all of it goes to a good cause (we do the VIP tickets as it has been worth it in the past).

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

You can't appreciate it until you have seen it; the light thrown-off by this thing is tremendous. Only a few short weeks before we see it in all it's glory.

New Roundup Rodeo BBQ sit-down restaurant coming to TSL

I don't see how you can compare a restaurant to a retail store in terms of design/build time. Forgetting about the complexities (and health codes) around food preparation/delivery, I think folks forget about a simple fact affecting almost everything Disney opens right now: staffing. It doesn't...

Trip Report The Good, The Bad, and The Ian -- Now, With Bonus February FARTS Trip

I'm confused: why are you eating at so many non-EPCOT restaurants on a day you spend at EPCOT? Forgetting the fact it's the anniversary (you are correct in that it should be crowded), it takes time to get to/from the park (even via monorail). FWIW, we will be at EPCOT October 1 as well...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

If it's anything like what I saw in Shanghai (and it should be), then it will be spectacular; you can see it all the way across the water from the DL hotel (and the ride is at the back of the park). I'm not sure folks realize the canopy changes colors as well. I would go so far as to say: this...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

My guess is no for a couple of reasons: 1) The "structure" (and "tunnel") already exist for Splash; Tron was (literally) built on top of the existing tracks. 2) If Splash really is more of a "re-theming", then they probably are not going to do much re-routing of "track"...which means they won't...

    Panama Canal Cruise

You didn't specify the cruise line (Disney?) but we took the Celebrity version (preferred the itinerary) and it was great! This is one of the best "long" duration cruises. The dining question has already been answered, but I'll add that "formal" ain't what it used to be on cruises anymore; men...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

I've been on the Shanghai version (which this should be a carbon copy of)...and it's a blast! One of those rides you want to ride again immediately (if your head can take it).

That really sucks. I just bought a bunch of shampoo: guess that will be it. 😥

News Disney CEO Bob Chapek suggests price hikes are coming to the parks thanks to guest demand

There are aspects to this that speak directly to a metric I hear a lot in my line of business: customer experience. Obviously, the goal is a positive customer experience. It's not hard to discover complaints about how crowded parks (or anything) contribute to a negative customer experience. And...

News Disney CEO Bob Chapek suggests price hikes are coming to the parks thanks to guest demand

No; in fact, you could argue we go more (even thought the length of stay may have declined). Bottom line: TWDC is in business to make $, and you could see (even before COVID) that the only way to reduce crowds long-term is through price hikes. If you read about the history of the company (like...

News Disney CEO Bob Chapek suggests price hikes are coming to the parks thanks to guest demand

Agreed. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say Disney will never have a third resort in the US.

New Roundup Rodeo BBQ sit-down restaurant coming to TSL

I think RR BBQ fulfills 3 key needs at HS: Another "sit down" restaurant Indoor/temp controlled environment BBQ (this food type seems to do well in Disney)

Rumor Spaceship Earth Redo Shelved Indefinitely

Not really. They replaced all the inductive motor elements (required some serious re-engineering due to the old design), although the track itself is the same.

Rumor Spaceship Earth Redo Shelved Indefinitely

It has been stated that the ride systems needs to be replaced, which should be a fairly significant job. I can't think of another (track-based) ride system that has been operating in WDW as long as SSE (40 years).

    Needing some restaurant opinions/help

HS (day 4/5): our favorite dinner places are Hollywood Brown Derby and Mama Melrose. MK: Be Our Guest has some of the best "meat" (e.g. filet) on property (per conversation with the restaurant manager...and I tend to agree). We are going to The Boathouse (another high-quality food location) for...

    Garden grill

A real shame if true. The breakfast came with a monster (delicious) cinnamon roll!
