Cost for expanded Monorail route vs Skyliner

The Las Vegas monorail, which uses the same system from Bombardier, cost $150 million per mile in 2004. That's about $200 million adjusted for inflation. That one mile is almost as much as the entire Skyliner, if memory serves. And construction would probably take at least five years.

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

If anyone wants to fund a trip for me during peak season, I'm willing to sit in a gondola stopped in the July sun for research purposes. I won't even make you spring for the Deluxes, Caribbean Beach is fine.

News Primeval Whirl at Disney's Animal Kingdom experiencing extended downtime

I've never ridden it, but is it that much worse than any other wild mouse coaster? For comparison's sake, I've ridden both Busch Gardens Tampa's Sand Serpent back when it was in Williamsburg and called Wilde Maus and Six Flags New England's Gotham City Gauntlet. I don't feel like I was notably...

    Magic Bands in Civilian Life

Unless you mean he was in his 40s and is in his 60s now, I don't know if that quite tracks here.

    Magic Bands in Civilian Life

He does, but I got the sense the guy was there to have the dogs groomed. He said something about needing to come back. It was just odd.

    Magic Bands in Civilian Life

My husband and I were taking our cat to the vet yesterday morning. About ten minutes after we got there, a man walked in with his two dogs. After a minute, my husband discreetly sent me a text stating "That man is wearing two FitBits and a Magic Band." I didn't believe him, but as we were...

Won't they likely be mummifying in the gondolas, considering the heat?

    Fox Properties at Disney parks

Most of the Fox properties I'd want to see *cough*X-Files*cough* wouldn't really fit anywhere. They'd need a fifth gate that was more in the vein of Epic Universe, and that's really not Disney's MO.

News Another Drunk Banned for Life

When I went in January, I celebrated my first trip to Disney as a grown-up (bear in mind, I'm 40) with a margarita from Choza de Margarita, with no idea A) how good is was going to be and B) how STRONG. I was VERY happy while I was wandering around the rest of World Showcase. I ended up...

Disney Has Lost It's Way - An Article From The Federalist

I'm just a simple country doctor, but it seems like they still have options with affordability if/when the forecasted recession (my Spidey-sense says it's a when, but again, simple country doctor) hits. The Midday Magic tickets are that under another name, and I imagine we'll see more room...

Disney Has Lost It's Way - An Article From The Federalist

I'm not disputing that Eisner wasn't a good CEO, at least at first. And I actually do get why people have warmer feelings about him these days especially considering that he did craft a public persona that was affable, a lot like Walt did. But, while I wasn't really hanging around specifically...

News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

They're likely going to run them less frequently. I'm not the biggest fan of heights, but I'd rather park hop in a few minutes rather than wait for a slow moving boat or bus, or walk for 20 minutes.

    "The Problem With Disney Fans"

What about bus drivers? For all the accusations of "SHILL!" and "BOUGHT OFF!" he also made a point of mentioning that he hates Haunted Mansion Holiday. The whole toxic fandom discussion--which isn't unique to Star Wars--is a long, depressing conversation best suited to somewhere else. But I...

News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

We often say Disney Imagineering can't innovate these days, but I'm going to point to them creating an opportunity for guests to both spontaneously combust and freeze solid on the same attraction as the most advanced thing they've done in years.

    Entertainment cuts

We ate lunch out of desperation. I try to be conscious of my carbohydrate intake, so the only option I could really find ended up being a cheeseburger, and by that, I mean a clearly-frozen burger patty with a sad slice of cheese on it. I gave the fries to my husband, who was similarly...

    Entertainment cuts

I went to Six Flags New England for the first and last time a few weeks ago. I guess I didn't hate it. I think my standards for regional parks were spoiled by growing up near Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Also, one of the coasters hurt my back.

    Entertainment cuts

Your complaint is that a for-profit enterprise is trying to make the most money possible? For the record here, I don't like the corporate environment that Disney exists in. But until I become Emperor of the Universe and decree how economics work, I accept the realities of the situation.
