Upgrade to Annual Pass?

Will Disney allow you to upgrade a 7 day no expiration hopper to an annual pass?

Or do I have to return the hopper and purchase an annual pass?

I think they will let you put the 7 day ticket towards the price of the annual.
My parents have done this before I believe.
Im not 100% sure...But I really do think so...:)

If the pass has not been used yet, they will credit you the entire price of the pass toward the cost of an annual pass.

If the pass *has* been used (but not entirely used up), I believe there's a couple options (others can correct me if I'm wrong):
-One is that they'll give you a credit for the full price of the 7-day ticket toward an Annual Pass, but they'll back-date the starting date of the AP to be the date the 7-day ticket was used. (Useful if you decide mid-trip that you should have gotten an AP instead of the 7-day)
-The other is that they'll give you a pro-rated credit for the remaining days on the pass (i.e. price-of-pass, divided by 7, times number of remaining days) and apply that toward an AP. (This is more useful if the ticket is months old)

By the manner you asked the question, I would guess that it has never been used. As the others have stated, that only impacts the credit you are given and the start date of the AP. You can upgrade at any guest relations center in the parks, or the one at DTD.

The only thing is that you'll be credited the "purchase price" and not the face value of the ticket. Meaning if UT bought your ticket at a discount, that is the amount you'll receive in upgrade credit. My sister did that several years ago, bought her ticket at an off-property hotel (totally legit) to save time, but when she upgraded it to more days, she was only credited the rate the hotel paid for the ticket (which was less than full face "gate price" as they bought the pass at a group discount). This was before the MYW ticket system, but I would expect something similar will apply. FWIW.
