New Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? Is this the year it finally gets announced? No, and that’s OK

Can we please normalize giving a little description or why I should watch a video?? Instead of just giving clicks or watching a 30 minute video for very little new info.
But what I gather from the comments is that if the refurbishment is as extensive as MK then it could push off a complete Tomorrowland redo if they do not do anything special then it could be sooner.

I could say the opposite if Buzz got the upgrade that means they are starting with a new Tomorrowland keeping Buzz and then moving on to the next section of Tomorrowland. Then at D23 this year make the grand reveal for the remaining sections. That building other than the PeopleMover track could be kept. Buzz is still popular and has an upcoming movie coming out. A retail location that Disney loves and a QSR that is popular and can handle a large crowd with an attached entertainment/stage area. If they had a new theme to Tomorrowland they could redo the exterior. Not sure with Toy Story 5 coming out in June they would do a lengthy refurbishment.
Not sure if we are getting the upgrade though. MKs upgrade was announced in March and closed in August. When they announced MK they could have stated that Disneyland would get the upgrade also at a later date like they have done with other dual announcements. Disneyland, I feel would have announced it as to hype it up and a reason for a lengthy refurbishment with a hey get your last ride in. The most recent refurbishments (from a list i found on touring planning) if accurate occurred in 2021 and 2017 so it could seem it's just that time.

After seeing the new Buzz entrance at Magic Kingdom, do we think there's a chance that there won't be an official new Tomorrowland project? Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland has seen a slow transformation since Tron construction began in 2017/8, with the new paint scheme, new entrance signage for Buzz, Monsters and the land itself, the addition of Tron, and the updates to Buzz and soon coming to Carousel of Progress. Apart from a Stitch replacement, their Tomorrowland has almost had a full transformation. Could we see a similar approach to Disneyland's Tomorrowland?? We've already had the submarines refreshed back in 2022 and Space Mountain had the new lighting etc last year. Could we see a gradual refresh of Disneyland's Tomorrowland?

I generally don't post summaries unless I want to draw attention to a specific point. People always have the option to not watch a video posted.

But good point about the movie releasing soon. I don't think it's getting the upgrade either, but that's because I hope for TL redo sooner than later, and I would like to see Buzz be replaced.

WDW's TL is in a lot better shape than Disneyland's, so the land needs less work. The prevailing theory is that DL's TL is so interconnected that it would have to all be done in large sections or altogether.

Isn't drawing attention to a point the reason for posting a video here? I appreciate the notion of giving credit to the source of a rumor, theory, or bit of news. Yet, I go to this site for a reason and seldom have the time or interest for content creators. Admittedly, they can make good points though and I would really be grateful to you and anyone else posting a video if the key information could be briefly summarized.

I don’t know where to put this, but I had time so I watched the Tapestry of Happiness thing at Small World for maybe the first time, and they have a section set to Remember Me that has images of Yesterland attractions. There’s the original Disneyland sign, the buckets, House of Tomorrow, and PeopleMover. But then they had the audacity to sneak the Rocket Rods up there? I was literally howling.

Anyway fake insider take they’ll announce a return of the PeopleMover at D23 and that’s why they put it on there.

Yes, please! I am a reader not a watcher/listener.

It looks like Tony Baxter agrees with removing Buzz.

The irony that both Buzz and Indiana Jones wouldn't have likely been made had Dick Tracy done well as the cancellation of that Dick Tracy's Crimestoppers caused the ride system to be designed to be readjusted to become the EMV we know today and the Tommy guns that would have been used was the early interactive technology used for Buzz

I think the idea of some kind of shooter ride is a good fit for Disneyland and Tomorrowland especially. The problem I’ve always had with Buzz is the way they’ve depicted his toy nature. The aesthetic of the ride comes off to me like a cheap happy meal. Toy Story Lands in other parks have accomplished that plaything atmosphere in a much classier style. Incidentally, Poultry Palace, across the way, suffers from the same issue.

It’s New Tomorrowland rumor season. They re doing a an aggressive amount of attraction refurbs around Disneyland recently. Is Tomorrowland (or part of it) going down soon?
My biggest hope is that the 50th Anniversary of Space Mountain next year could be used as a launching point for some New Tomorrowland projects.

Assuming the Buzz refurb is just another patch job and the fact that Galactic Grill just got a simple repaint (everything is just more white), I feel like Park ops has given the land minimal attention while WDI and executives figure out a long term plan.

All of the Artemis II coverage has really brought space back into public consciousness. It gives me hope for a bright future for Tomorrowland. The new Space Mountain in Tokyo couldn’t have been better timed.

I think whatever plans end up happening, they need to completely tear down both the CoP building AND Buzz. I’d make the Buzz area with a fountain and like a World Celebration/Celestial Park/Tomorrowland 60s vibe as the current pathways are just not it. Plus the outdoor seating connected to buzz, gone too.

I’d put a Fantastic Four, Avatar (if they don’t do a full land tho I hope they do), The Incredibles, Inside Out, or Wall-E E-ticket, and then I’d fix the PeopleMover, and aesthetically update the land.

Either teardown or start using the Magic Eye Theater.

I don’t think there’s enough room or desires to do a Tokyo-level Space Mountain redo, but honestly they should, DL’s Space is very mediocre, it just turns right over and over. It has nothing on Orlando’s, and is a joke versus Paris, though at least it’s smooth (but Orlando’s layout is WAY better, much more potential which is why I don’t see the need to start over).

I honestly wouldn’t even touch the lagoon and thus the subs and Autopia. While Nemo could use an update, I’d keep it as a whole, at least probably until the next phase of investment and not this 10-year stretch.

Autopia is actually good at DL and the area is gorgeous. I’d rather a new land next to Galaxy’s Edge (like Avatar or another IP-land), than taking out what’s already a beautiful area around Matterhorn.

I'd love to see them build an original Epcot-style Omnimover that takes us through the history and evolution of science that features a fun new tune that inspires new generations to keep exploring the world around us to make it a better place. I'd theme it to a Discovery-Bay esque Observatory where the ride vehicles circle up and around an indoor dinning area.

Space is fine for me, as its way smoother than WDW and has far better visuals. It just needs a modern queue. The only IP I'd feature is the Avatar boat ride where guests can be transported to explore an alien environment. Tomorrowland should be where Disney gets back to creating classic original attractions rather than shoving in random IP's that don't fit nor inspire.

my personal view is that disney is perfectly fine with kicking this particular can down the road for as long as possible (see also: figment at WDW)

and, who knows? maybe if disney lets enough time pass, the wall-laden tomorrowland entrance will become charming and nostalgic to the children of today, and in 20 years they'll be on this very forum lamenting about how disney ruined their childhood by fixing tomorrowland!

I'm sort of in this camp.

I don't think they have to re-imagine it, per se. The old anchors are still fine. Just fill in the dead space.

Although I maintain that Astro Orbiter at ground level is an atrocity.
