MK New Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Updates Coming to Walt Disney World

Rode it yesterday around noon. Very solid upgrade of the ride experience. Queue may not be an upgrade but it is at least cleaned up and repainted. Agree we can take this as a win.

Did you have to get a wristband or something to ride or just enter the line? I saw a live-streamer on Sunday and he got a wristband in order to ride. Just wondering about the procedure for when I'm there in a couple days, if they are still in soft-open.

Honestly, the emergency escape hatch is one of the best upgrades, especially since before it was just pitch black curtains and a red light beaming at you
It was a lot cooler when the fog effect was still in that room. Look up any POV of this ride before it was Space Ranger Spin or even Space Ranger Spin early in its life. The light plus the fog created an effect that looked almost like the turbines/engines of an airplane in motion, which of course makes a lot of sense given the original theming of this space. That said, the new emergency escape hatch updates are very nice. My one gripe is that girder shortly after going through the hatch that they tried to cover up by painting into the scene but it just doesn't look quite right.

No wristband needed for the soft open. That was for designated previews.

Perhaps some perspective, instead of blindly fawning over what was done. They took one of the most neglected, worn out, and dirty rides at the MK and put in the bare minimum amount of work into bringing the ride to a passable state.

It's sort of like the arsonist burning down their own home and then claiming they're a victim.
Huh?

Should I not applaud Disney for doing a good job on this refurb or just because it didn’t happen sooner it’s a failure?

They took the ride and plussed it over the original version.
Or, and hear me out, we can just enjoy the fact that the attraction got some much needed updates that look to have been done well and leave it at that instead of constantly having to add a caveat to every positive thing that happens. It is okay to just…be satisfied with something and that be that. You’re not going to drop dead because there’s not a huge negative to discuss.
That poster is so overly critical of everything that I swear HMF and them are the same person.

Yeah, I don’t know what they were thinking by painting the girder to look like space. Coulda just painted it red like the others and no one would’ve bat an eye.

Those things being mediocre/terrible have no impact on Buzz being a quality refurb though.
This was admittedly a quality refurb. Again, I believe a new attraction in the space would be preferable but if Buzz is going to be staying put this is certainly an improvement over just letting it run in its old, dilapidated state without a major refurbishment. Also, the fact that I don't expect them to replace it with anything that isn't out-of-theme for Tomorrowland, outright bad or both.

Looks great.

Happy to see them selling toys of the new blasters, which is surprising to see since all vaguely gun-like toys stopped being sold at WDW around 2012-2013ish. That’s when they retired the original Space Ranger Spin Ion Cannon toys, pirates guns, etc.

Or maybe gun toys came back years ago and I just missed it
