It's still a nice and enjoyable ride. I would gladly take it off their hands and for DHS.

Oh for sure! Flat rides have been a part of Disney parks from day 1! Kids enjoy them. They add kinetic energy. It’s a win-win.

The old Fantasyland rides also are more convincing yet somehow take up less space than modern dark rides along the lines of Little Mermaid and this is far more apparent with the DCA incarnation.

What we SHOULD be getting is both. Design a dark ride and coaster that interact with each other in some rooms. That’s what I’d love to see! Plus it gives all ages the chance to experience the attraction.

Not everyone wants to ride space mountain - the view from the people mover gives people the chance.

As of the information provided by Disney themselves, Monsters was supposed to close at DCA in 2026, but it has been pushed back to 2027 as the project timeline was adjusted and they realised they could keep it open longer

I'd be really amused if they redressed those celebrity figures again as Na'avi and put them somewhere in Disneyland's Avatar attraction.

No, Regis was redressed as the first Randall peeking out from behind a street lamp. The other celebrities (Tim Allen, Whoopi Goldberg, Drew Carey, etc.) were redressed as CDA agents.

There are some rumbles that Disney may pivot and put Zootopia land/ride in that space. Not sure what that means for Avatar but maybe it can go somewhere else in the Disneyland Forward project.

We were close to getting one in the proposed Mary Poppins takeover of the UK pavilion until they decided on a flat ride but then end up canceling the project altogether.

Josh needs to revive it.

Final plans at the time were indoor teacups with projected walls and a pre-show wherein you entered the Royal Doulton bowl on the mantle from Mary Poppins Returns. Other plans preceded it that were apparently at times more elaborate. Others might have better info to share, but I’ve not seen much more than rumors.

I know a lot of people won’t agree but I would love a flat ride to be included somewhere in the land. HS still struggles with height requirements and I’m surprised they’re not pushing for more easy/quick fixes with flat rides.

I’m against flat rides for the same reason I’m against visible coaster tracks.

But I do enjoy the tea cups and Dumbo with my little ones.

I’m all for movement in a land, but I prefer trains and such for this.

I know it’d be challenging to do outdoors, but exterior AAs or things like the Star Tours food pats conveyor system or the old Toontown Gag Factory Mickey glove overhead track would be perfect for Monsters Inc. land.

I don’t want them to remove the carousel or Dumbo, or tea cups from DL, but if they were building a new Fantasyland somewhere, I’d prefer they didn’t put a spinner in the middle.

I don’t want everything to be hidden indoors, I just like it when they provide a thematic explanation for the ride system/vehicles.

The carousel in the center is one of the original design features - the kinetic energy of the carousel seen through the entrance of the castle - that is the definition of Disney theme park design.

Plus it’s so perfect to be in line for Snow White or toad and hear the classic calliope play.

The art also doesn’t show the gravity building that you can make out in the model. That should be easier to theme I would think but the fact isn’t it in the art just means the art is more half baked.

I find the blue box outside of Guardians the most egregious sightline issue, I hate seeing that from World Showcase. Tron building doesn’t quite bother me as much as I felt like it’s more annoying from an area I’m not in much these days anyway (Storybook Circus). It feels like more trees could help there. Remy’s area back of house doesn’t irk me like the others.

Maybe it’s naive, but I give them the benefit of the doubt with sightlines overall. I think they will find ways to hide Galaxy’s Edge and vise versa from Monstropolis. I’m confident they will spruce up behind Harryhausens and the new gap between the theater and the door coaster.

I seriously doubt the Door Coaster will look “bad” like Cosmic Rewind.

To me, it’s mostly instructive to the parking lot, similar to Flight of Passage.

I genuinely think the Soarin’ show building is more intrusive throughout more of the park; it’s about a toss-up.

Pretty much a non-issue either way.

I did! It looks great. The lanterns really make it.

Would it have been better if the boats were floating in real water and pulled in unpredictable paths by an invisible track (thus not a spinner)? I would think so.

I’m not a hater! Flat rides/spinners are fine, and this might be the best one ever. But they’ve become ubiquitous and I think Disney can (and has done) better.
