News Disney Springs Bus Service to Resorts Now Requires Reservation Verification

Reddit right now is full of people complaining that they can't just park at DS and then spend a day resort hopping to look at lobbies.


Hey I'm not a customer but during the most busy time of the year I'd love to further bog down your transportation system for the people who are customers. Won't you please accommodate me.

I gather you don't know about the Easter eggs.

This time of year, as opposed to most of the year, resort hopping to the hotel lobbies is special due to the elaborate Easter eggs the WDW chefs make. The eggs are BIG, and each one is unique and an artwork unto itself. They are crafted out of chocolate, and painted with every color.

Most years, GF and BWK each have a ton, then the other resorts each have a few. This year I think the collection is more evenly spread out. GF only had a few, and they were not displayed in the lobby, as they were in the past. There are two in the window of the gift shop. Maybe they have more all over the hotel, so that guests have to hunt for them? We didn't have time to search.

On the other hand, the Contemporary had a whole row of Easter eggs in the lobby that are displayed/lit to look like the opening scene of the original Muppets Show. There is an "egg" carving of each character: Animal, Dr. Honeydew, Beaker, Fozzy, Chef, Kermit, Sweetums, and Sam, plus a replica to Stadler/Waldorf in their balcony! In prior years, CR only had one or two eggs, and they were displayed inside the steakhouse.

WL had a chocolate train with 4 cars, including a caboose.

I could easily see people making a fun day of finding all the chocolate Easter eggs.

Let me ask again - is this an actual problem? Have guests staying at the Contemporary regularly been unable to find parking? Also, how is the parking situation at the contemporary improved by making the lousy transportation system at Disney Springs worse or by asking for proof of reservations at Port Orleans or The Boardwalk?

As all the people who have me on blast didn’t get to read upthread…parking was an issue at the contemporary, beach/yacht and boardwalk…because the same online people who ruin EVERYTHING and locals let it be know to avoid the $6 parking fee (at that time) and bluff your way in so you Could walk straight into the park.

But springs to avoid whatever ridiculous fee they charge now isn’t really worth the hassle of the trip. My opinion but I tend to be annoyingly right with my gut.

And it’s to block Florida residents (scum), air bnbs (non believers) and that SLIME leaking from universal hotels

I was gonna bring that up…Easter, Halloween and Xmas displays are done specifically to draw more people in the lobbies for extra revenue and crowd dispersement

This, I think we are on two different things. Parking has been an issue before at the hotels next to parks. I have yet to see anywhere that there is an issue with the busses from DS going to a resort.

Parking at Springs is exactly what prevents this from happening. Do you not consider someone who is going to get a reservation at Trader Sam's a guest? Or someone going to eat at Steakhouse 71? And I still have yet to be convinced about the inconvenience at the Springs busses from people who park there and go to the resorts.

According to the article this is intended to free up parking at Disney Springs. During this restricted period those individuals would need to drive to the resorts, which would open up spaces for new guests at Springs.

But if the resorts are overcrowded this might give them a modicum of additional control. That might be a byproduct.

It’s no longer an actual problem because Disney solved it by restricting parking to those staying there.

Because even one guest parking at the Contemporary instead of the TTC is $40 Disney doesn’t get. Based on copious experience, which is more likely to motivate Disney decision makers - guests who can’t park near their hotel or a small fee a tiny number of guests might elude?

By the way, the Contemporary situation is the direct result of the fact that getting to MK from the TTC is an arduous, miserable experience that Disney has done very little to improve over decades of exploding attendance. It’s a big part of why Magic Kingdom is the WDW park I visit the least.

Well we killed the 10 year old myth “for everyone they lose…10 line up to replace them.”

Because it’s and always was…you just don’t get immediately proof…takes a while to fester

Now it’s time to kill they “they keep making more money…so it’s working” stuff.

It’s a mass model. Fans that think they’re special for paying more can’t keep it going as the bottom half of the market drops out by no choice. The Math don’t math.

So if you’re waiting for Muffy and Buffy to stroll Around with sweaters tied over their shoulders and a “select” group of peers…you’ll never see it.

Nobody will…because the model will collapse and the gates will be close long prior.
The us market is likely already beyond zero barrier…
Who they gonna get? The super rich europe?
China?
The Brazilian sugar cane economy?
Sub Saharan?

Do you believe allowing everyone to park at the Contemporary will result in a tiny number of guests eluding a small fee? I strongly disagree.

If Disney charges for parking people should pay that fee unless they are exempt for some reason.

Getting from the TTC to MK has never been an arduous, miserable experience for me.

I don't think there's a perfect system because of how big WDW is.
AP holders are a different situation, but at Disneyland most APs don't include parking. Maybe they should charge AP holders for parking to help pay for the buses. Right now it seems like Disney hotels are bearing most of the costs for bus service and that's probably not going to keep working in this economy.

Right now it seems like Disney hotels are bearing most of the costs for bus service and that's probably not going to keep working in this economy.

Transportation costs at WDW are a set cost. And nothing new.

And that has nothing to do with this issue - the Disney Springs issue.

But sure… “I’ll have one AP with transpiration+ option please!”
