News Disney Springs Bus Service to Resorts Now Requires Reservation Verification

Idiotic.

Disney used to encourage guests, even those staying off property, to resort hop - resort hoppers spend money at shops and restaurants and might stay on property next time.

Transportation from Disney Springs is so bad anyway I often don’t visit the place even if I’m staying on property for that very reason. It ain’t worth it to save $40.

And while I don’t think this factored into the decision, the fact that they’re locking the bubble tighter and tighter just as Uni becomes full fledged competition makes them look petty and scared.
You can tell they're scared and want to get all the guests they can because they are... limiting the amount of people going to their restaraunts during busy times. Man they are shivering in their timbers. What are they going to do?!?! Maybe people will end up at Universal's new Vegas strip hotel ;) or the masses will migrate to get a gourmet meal at the Surfside resort, yippee!

Ah classic Disney, limiting profit to give their customers a better experience. Their fatal flaw

1. If you're visiting during the busy season and not staying on property, yeah you're going to be a little annoyed at times because they will prioritize people who paid the hundreds to be there and not people "grabbing a quick coffee"
I always stay on property. Wyndham and Hilton are both on property. Hence why I walk over to Disney Springs for coffee / early lunch / etc. before heading out.
2. I meant like go to the Disney Springs bus stop, go to Epcot bus using that to get to your next resort and just go to a park and then a hotel like any other time pretty much.
There is no Epcot bus from Disney Springs. That’s the problem. If I made it to the bus stop I now have to either walk to rideshare and get an uber or walk over to Saratoga.

A post from Reddit - a guest parked at Polynesian with a breakfast reservation at O’hana and then took the bus to Disney springs and they couldn’t get back to Polynesian to get to the car. So they had to go to Saratoga, bus to MK and then over to Poly.

Cmon… that’s just silly.

Honestly I forgot there isn't a parks bus from DS, I can see the frustration. I would think the best option then would be to take the walk to Saratoga or AFAIK the boats don't have this restriction? So I would use the boats to PO/Saratoga.

yeah…. It’s extra annoying because they would be stopping me for no reason, since I don’t have a car parked there.

But yes, Saratoga is the easy option it’s just a long walk to backtrack.

Don't both Wyndham and Hilton have park shuttles? Not sure about Hilton but I think Wyhdham one is free. I also think both need to be scheduled and that's a pain so I can see why enjoying freedom walking to DS, but at least if you're there during a week they do something like you have an option that's not rideshare or longer walk to Saratoga.

Yes. I’m not asking how to get to my hotel to the parks. They do offer free shuttles.

The reason I choose those hotels over the similarly priced all-stars is because I enjoy grabbing a coffee and sometimes early lunch at Springs before heading out.

Honestly the solution to all of this is charge for parking at springs and run park dedicated buses. Problem solved and guests are better served all the way around.

Do you park a car at WDW?

But it wouldn’t be for most. It affects your perspective on charging for parking.
I’m curious why you rarely share your opinion but just question others?

Do you think Disney Springs parking should be free? Why or why not?

I think they should charge for parking so they can connect Disney Springs with the parks and make transportation better for all guests.

I've been visiting for 20 years at all times of the year as a resort guest and have never, ever been asked to 'show my papers' before I could board a bus.

Another stupid and idiotic decision added to the list...
I have several times. As many have said, this has been something they’ve been doing for a long time just on a more informal basis. It just so happens you’ve not been subjected to it.

I don't have a strong feeling about this change one way or the other, but I completely understand why they see this as preferable to charging for parking at Disney Springs. They're not going to want to disincentivise people from spending time and money at their outdoor dining and retail complex so they can run more free buses. I suspect their tenants would also mightily complain and it would potentially break whatever lease agreements they have.

The pearl clutching around this is insane. It's been done for years, it happens when its busy, and yeah, shock horror, if you're staying on site you're given priority on the free transport to your own damn resort vs someone who's tried parking at springs for free to avoid paying to park at the parks. It is not a big deal.

Honestly they should be doing this more often if anything.
