I'd hope a bit of sensible logic is used here, so if you're at pop you can get on an AoA, CBR, Riviera or Boardwalk/Yacht&Beach bus for example.

Good that its being done though if it stop people parking at springs for free parking then going into the parks. I'd assume they'll only be strict about international gateway and bay lake resorts.
If you’re willing to go through multiple rounds of security and a bus transfer to get to and from your parked car at DS to a park to avoid paying the $40 to park…then well honestly you deserve to go through that hell.

Also not good for Donnie as the freeloading AP don’t have to pay for theme park parking.

I’m definitely not a fan of this. I often stay at the Wyndham or Hilton and will go to Disney Springs, grab a coffee, and hop on a resort bus. If I walked all the way over there to be denied the bus ride I’d be very unhappy.
I believe the article specifics its for the busy season which makes sense enough to me and seemingly only at Disney Springs?

So I would just hop over to a park then hop to the resort you want to go to. It's just to keep it somewhat less chaotic and that people who NEED to get to their hotel/food/etc can go.

Idiotic.

Disney used to encourage guests, even those staying off property, to resort hop - resort hoppers spend money at shops and restaurants and might stay on property next time.

Transportation from Disney Springs is so bad anyway I often don’t visit the place even if I’m staying on property for that very reason. It ain’t worth it to save $40.

And while I don’t think this factored into the decision, the fact that they’re locking the bubble tighter and tighter just as Uni becomes full fledged competition makes them look petty and scared.

Yes it does. I never said otherwise. But if I was visiting during a time they decided to do this I would be very annoyed.

No… that is not possible in the scenario I described. My best option would be to walk to an Uber or walk all the way over to Saratoga.

That is not the reason stated… it’s to control parking apparently.

This isn't new. They have been doing this during busy periods for years and it's only at DS.

A guest staying off property can still resort hop, they just need to get to a park first.

You can still resort hop with DS as an origin point if you’re staying on property, and you can still resort hop if you’re not staying on property as long as you start somewhere other than DS.

As other posters here have said they’ve been doing this for awhile, it’s only just been enshrined into official policy.

It’s been done in an informal way for about 15 years, but this is a more concerted effort with scanning bands, etc.
What was the informal way? Like what was the procedure?

I remember during new years crowds there would be guest relations CM’s at some transportation stops - but I always thought that was to do with the phased closings.

Been a while but the conversation I remember was always “oh you have an AP? Well you can board the bus just be aware that the park may be at capacity when you arrive”

I don’t specifically remember anything at Downtown Disney / Springs - but I’ve only recently started staying at those hotels vs. Disney when the prices are good.

I’ve experienced this 2 different years during Memorial Day weekend. I don’t have an opinion/strong feelings about it from either side of the argument. MB take’s what, all of 2 seconds to scan?

1. If you're visiting during the busy season and not staying on property, yeah you're going to be a little annoyed at times because they will prioritize people who paid the hundreds to be there and not people "grabbing a quick coffee"

2. I meant like go to the Disney Springs bus stop, go to Epcot bus using that to get to your next resort and just go to a park and then a hotel like any other time pretty much.

3. The reason its actually there can be a million reasons, they won't state every single one.
