If you've done the Keys To The Kingdom tour, how much time was spent in backstage areas?

It says lunch is included. Where did you eat lunch?

Last part of the tour. It was relatively quick in the utilitidoors. Less than an hour.

Lunch was provided at Pecos Bill.

When I did it we did the Utilidors earlier in the tour, maybe 45 minutes there.
We had a little time backstage in Pirates (around 15 minutes) and slightly longer in HM.
Luckily for us we ate upstairs in CHH.

Edited: forgot about the Parade floats area!

We were the very first tour of the day, and did the Utilidors about half-way through the tour. We got backstage time at Jungle Cruise and HM, as well as walking down to where all the parade floats are kept behind Tiana's.

Lunch was at Columbia Harbour House for us.

It surprises people that the Utilizers isn't as expansive or as interesting as they think it would be. The time spent there and back stage varies depending on the CM guide that you have and the amount of questions and interactions your group will have. Ive been on several tours and each CM guide was different in how they handled the tour. The lunch spot also varies.

Our experience:

A little time in the Utilidors, maybe 5-10 minutes
Backstage behind Splash (the smell from the holding tank is a memory I can’t erase) and a quick view of the parade storage
Walked through the second floor of Main Street (west side)

Don’t remember where lunch was. 😞

Lunch was terrible (cold and Cosmic Ray's quality, but in Liberty Tree for some reason) and the information was really high-level facts and info most Disney fans know.

The guide was really repetitive with her "spiel" and rambled way too much. I'm not even a Disney expert and I felt like I knew a lot more about the rides in particular.

We got to ride Haunted Mansion.

Overall time backstage was almost nil besides some time in the utilidors and parade area. In general, the tour was kind of lame and boring. You stand out in the sun for hours listening to a guide ramble about stuff you've likely heard about or could know in a 5 minute read.

Agreed. I think having a good CM would make it much more interesting. The CM we got didn't even know a lot of stuff people asked and I remember her being wrong about several things.

That's odd and sad. I thought those doing the tours had to be well versed on all things regarding the parks and Disney history in order to be in that position. They should be prepared for all sorts of questions that might come up. Disneys lore has always been a CM never shows they don't know an answer. I'm sure everyone can be stumped occasionally but multiple times... that's not good show.

The Epcot utilidors are really basic too, but I found out that the break room down there was the perfect place to hide out when you got a tasking job for 15 min from the computer.

I remember a guest asking our guide a question. The Cast Member literally said, "I have no idea what you're talking about" and continued to tour. Rude and didn't even ask the guest to show her. The guest was referring to some Mickey head markings on the concrete behind the parade staging areas. Obviously, were there for something but CM had no clue.

The CM was probably 21. Overall, she was a 3/10. She was scripted, repetitive, and uninformed. She didn't know any park history or that Great Move Ride even existed. Clueless that Horizons was a thing too. I mentioned World of Motion, nothing.

Gasp. No knowledge of the GMR? That's only been gone since 2017. Because of her age, I might understand her not knowing of Horizons which was removed in 99 or World in 96. Still there should have been someone running the tour who was more mature and one who worked for Disney for a long time.
I would have gone to Guest Services and complained that the tour guide was unacceptable and ruined my experience.

It was clear she thought she was very knowledgeable, albeit in a condescending way. It was not a fun experience. It was very teacher and student dynamic with very little interaction. We literally stood in the baking sun by the Tiki Room for 20 minutes and we basically learned it's not actually made of thatch. I'm so shocked. She went ON and ON about this for literally 15 minutes and another 5 was looking at it more closely.

I felt bad going to complain because I think she would have actually gotten in trouble if they believed me.

TGMR, Horizons, World of Motion were all brought up because several guests were lamenting the closure of favorites. We laughed amongst ourselves that she didn't remember TGMR in particular.
