DHS Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

but toy story land is meant to make you feel small like a toy,
Does it ever actually do that? It’s so large and wide open it just looks like what it is…. Kind of six flags / Herschend level theming.

The land in Paris isn’t perfect but its smaller scale helps a little.

The best “makes you feel small” feeling was bugs land in DCA. That area was really charming.

Yeah I agree it's not very successful. Even though honey I shrunk the kids playground worked better.

I still can't get over the fact that DHS doesn't have a water-based attraction. If TSL wasn't so landlocked it'd be the perfect place to plop one down. "You sunk my battleship!" Or even a leaking sprinkler head would work.
Totally agreed.

A Lincoln Log flume ride would be great.

To be honest, it needs more than just a “Shanghai Pirates,” it needs a “gets you mildly wet ride.”

it also could sue a tropical land so honestly I’d be down for an Indiana Jones Show replacement, eating into the parking lot, and making a huge Oceania land, with a Lilo and Stitch rapids ride and a Moana E-ticket headliner log flume ride.

A “wet play area” like Epic, MK, EPCOT, etc. all have would be a wise move to add to Toy Story Land in my opinion.

Disney should be commended for being able build a themed covered seating area at Hollywood Studios in less than 5 years.

Building a faithful replica of the one from the movie would be a legitimately good idea.
A glaring omission if you ask me.
Imagine having the robots that flank the entrance saying "Welcome to Pizza Planet" as you enter?
The claw game? Well, several to handle the crowds.

Six Flags has had some nice moments. The Gotham City areas were really well done when they opened. I realize that’s been a long time though. *feels old*
Those areas were built when Six Flags was under more direct control of Time Warner. Once they sold their parks to Premier Parks in 1998 is generally when the quality of the parks overall went into the toilet.

Well still some bright spots since then - the redo of the monster plantation for example.
Oh yeah, The Merger with Cedar Fair has been relatively good for the legacy Six Flags parks that had been suffering under Premier's ownership. Cedar Fair had in the last 2 decades begun investing more in the upkeep of their parks in terms of maintenance and park atmosphere. To sum it up Cedar Fair parks overall were nice looking, clean, and had decent food for regional parks. Legacy Six Flags parks however were suffering on all those fronts. Since the merger the company has gone into the Legacy Six Flags parks and have started to clean and update the crumbling infrastructure. However the ugly side of the merger has lead to several of the parks being sold off or closed due to massive debt. So its a double edge sword.

yeah, they do have some nice moments! The reason I consider them so different though is Six Flags when it comes to theming can do a decent bit of place making when they try but they don’t do a lot of storytelling. Whereas I feel Herschend does excellent place making, AND the theming also contributes to a story that a ride or in some cases a whole land is telling. I would at the end of the day classify Six Flags as still amusement parks that sometimes do themeing, but i’d fully call Dollywood and Silver Dollar City (Herschned of course has more but these are their Disneyland and WDW basically) theme parks.
