I didn’t attend the last convention so I’m unfamiliar with Honda center - if there is a no bag policy… what do you do with your bags of stuff you have acquired at the expo?

The years I’ve gone they literally give you a bag when you walk in the door at the convention center.

you can either go to your hotel and drop off your stuff or you can drop it off at the bag check at the convention center.

I don't hate this list but it makes me wonder if Eisner is actively refusing the award. I mean I don't think Lin (or Dwayne) should be on the list, but otherwise I have few complaints.
Wholeheartedly agree on those two. I love Anne Hathaway but I don't feel she's a "Disney Legend". The Jonas Brothers are... a choice. Yeah, they had the Disney Channel show but I don't think a ton of people consider them "Disney".

Was there a charter member sale back in 2024? I can’t remember and now I am worried for next Thursday. I’ll be working a half day so I won’t be interrupted like I was in 2024 when tickets went on sale.

Man, I freaking KNEW it based on how the Florida event was marketed last year. They're making this a Gold member exclusive event, so a general membership isn't going to cut it this year Which on the face of it isn't terrible if you have the free Gold membership that comes with Disney+ or one of the mid-tier memberships. It's just one more hassle, and one more thing that people have to register for and spend money on.

Also, after looking over the ticket options, I have ...questions. First one being, why is the price the same for the convention center-only weekend pass as for the one that includes Honda center access? Shouldn't the former be cheaper because you're not taking up a seat at the HC? That's how it was last time, and it makes more sense.

Secondly, how screwed am I that I don't have a charter membership? After barely getting tix last time, I'm very concerned about snagging tix this year. The fact that they didn't hold back any tickets from the presale meant they were mostly gone by the time the general sales opened. Hopefully they don't do that this time?

The charter is going to be, I’d imagine, a few hundred people.

I went in 2019 when D23 was obviously already starting to explode in popularity. There was a special line for gold members to the Hall D23 panel (and members could bring non members). It was by far the minority of the line. Now you need those People to come and also assume they’ve had the membership for 10 years prior and never let it lapse.

Its purpose is to probably be a ticket sales dry run more than anything.

Re: Legends. This year seems awfully predictable.

I wish I had vocalized that I thought Iger would be named, but I decided the less crass decision would be to do it in 2028.

He ultimately deserves a legends award.

Not sure why there is any opposition to Lin, he also is overdue. Far more transient contributors have received the award when their original projects were far less old. Lin has covered ?six eight nine! major franchises successfully for them now. Jonas brothers are a substitute for the slot Miley Cyrus filled.

The oddity of this years lineup is how celebrity they all are. I feel it’s missing a heartfelt story front line lifer.

One final comment, forgive me for saying so, but they could absolutely increase the bottom tier pricing. 100$/d for a seat and floor access remains an absolute steal.

I don’t know why something so limited runs less than half of the holiday after hours events. I guess that’s why the membership has crept into being a requirement. But still you need one membership.

The top end floor ticket pricing is also wonky? I wonder if the secondary stage is moving to in front of section 104.

Thank you I somehow misread the criteria for Charter Member status as having a Gold membership for 3 consecutive years and panicked, thinking how many people that must be. After reading your post, I reread it and saw that it's people who have been members from the very beginning. That's a much more manageable number!

Bob? Hell no. I'd use stronger language but it would just get censored. It's just another ego massage.

LMM? He's contributed to three or four movies for Disney and that's worthy of "Legend" status? Same with Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson. (If you understand that reference... Very nice. Very evil. 😈)

Again - the bar for this "award" has fallen so far that it's practically on the floor.

you're a negative person.

Lin Manuel Miranda has contributed to Star Wars (Force Awakens/Rise of Skywalker), Moana, Hamilton, Mary Poppins Returns, Encanto, Percy Jackson, Little Mermaid, the Ducktales reboot, Odd Life of Timothy Green (hey more small potatoes but still fun), and Mufasa.

The guy has made some of Disney's most popular songs that feature in Disney's most recent successes.

He also happened to be a major reason behind the Encanto ride ;)

Guy has done a whole lot more that "contribute to 3-4 movies".

Disney Legend status shouldn't be about volume but the quality of his contributions anyway which he has driven massive engagement, streaming, and has a whole fandom around his work. He's definitely a Legend and to undersell his work is really just a disservice.

Shockingly its Eight, one of their actually successful streaming shows and they acquired Hamilton's stage film.

Like I said, I'm basing this in part on them just empirically giving the full Frozen Cast the award in 2022. No shade to Johnathan Groff (who was still in his 30's), but that seems to be the low bar. At least Lin has a section on his wikipedia page that is about his collaborations with Disney. Groff was just along for the stunt nature of that years selections.

There's definitely other people to nitpick. But Lin is at least pretty strongly a Disney guy.
