MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It seems a few posters here are (rightfully) aggrieved but all of this back-and-forth blaming is derailing the thread.

Why not just take a minute and start fresh and on-topic.

You're right. I do apologize @TrainsOfDisney @Chester&Hester Enthusiast and @lazyboy97o for the unnecessary back and forth, it was wrong. I'm going through a lot right now and took it out unfairly on you guys. Anyways, I'll go back on topic now.

Does anyone else think it's possible that they are doing both permits somehow for the Cars area? One for the smaller ride and one for the bigger ride. It would make them essentially the "same ride" but scaled down and less intense so its a possibility but it might just be easier for a version of Junkyard Jamboree/Rollickin' Roadsters. I just find it interesting that both of these permits are similar in scope with different ways of doing them

Running from one flashy thing to the next because you can’t sit still and appreciate the beauty of the rivers is exactly why Disney’s magic is being wasted on this generation. Attention spans these days are pathetic. The riverboat and island aren’t filler. They’re the care, craft and storytelling that actually make Disney special from other places. But subtlety and patience are too much work for people who can’t slow down. Lightning Lane is ruining the patience of people to the point where the beauty of the Rivers of America became a true afterthought. Such a shame. It is all just another amusement park, and that’s on them.

Have fun rushing to grab another paid Lightning Lane. Don’t be shocked when the general crowds are even more impatient and entitled once these new experiences open.

Fair enough. But im my opinion nobody is going to Disney to “see a river.” They’re going to experience a place where the river is part of the storytelling. Reducing it to “I can see a real one for free” just means you’re only valuing things at their most literal level.

That’s like saying background music in a movie is pointless because you can listen to music for free. You’re missing that it’s not there on its own. it’s there to make everything else feel the way it’s supposed to.

For anyone worried about size... basically all of Mount Prometheus's at TDS would fit in this plot... with a Top level E ticket inside that uses a similar ride system to what most of us think Cars Road Rally will be.

It is unfortunate and I agree that the park should offer new and exciting experiences. I'm actually looking forward to the Cars ride very much. But for a resort that brags about its blessing of size, Walt Disney World is cannibalizing itself so much that I’m starting to think WDI is taking for granted the vast well of creativity that could make these parks feel truly limitless.

But you're missing the point. ROA and TSI were utility. They made the park feel alive and gave you breathing room. Some days it was my favorite spot to go to once the park hit the crowd high. Weeks before closing, I saw a young lady just simply reading a book in one of the rocking chairs, admiring the scenery. It was refreshing to see. Some adults believe only alcohol can relieve them from the hustle and bustle of a busy park day.

Replacing them with something “more useful” just proves the problem: Disney is slowly becoming a ride warehouse.

Sure, Lightning Lane may make the ride experience faster, but it also trains guests to ignore everything that actually makes the park special. It enforces the checklist mentality that creates frustration and inconsiderate guest behavior. The parks also aren't open as long as they once were, therefore causing guests to rush even more. I miss the 8am-12am days. We're genuinely lucky if Magic Kingdom is open until 11pm any day of the year.

Do I understand the business and operations motivation for getting rid of the ROA and TSI, Absolutely! Do I think they should have done it, Absolutely NOT!

I agree, it’s the cannibalizing that bothers me the most in all cases, not just Cars.

In my opinion, the cannibalizing is all about money. It’s cheaper to destroy and replace than to expand.

Eh I'm thrilled replacing something I've only done or cared about a handful of times to something that will probably be a guaranteed ride on every time I go plus an amazing land. It's an absolute slam dunk, no debates for me. 14 acres for a playground and riverboat that was not well utilized in the most busy park in the world was crazy to me :shrugging:

Yeah I guess if you ignore all of the negative things I posted about like the state of TBA, the absolute hatred for Disney trying to get in the AI game, and the problems with maintenance/needing more restaraunts immediately because the capacity is not enough sure.

But you can just dismiss any of my opinions because "oH hE's A sHiLl" which might make it easier to swallow that instead of accepting an opinion different than your own.

Newsflash I do not care about MK's TSI or the Riverboat. Don't really care either way. They could have replace it with 1 decent ride and I would have been more than happy. To me, DL is the one that really matters. I always ride the ferry going into MK, I'd rather them just expand and enhance that experience than needing the ridiculously massive plot that the current river took up. Could it be pretty? Sure but I have a better river about 5 minutes from my house. ROA does about nothing for me over than provide a view and one of many places to sit down which I don't need as much because there is plenty of less busy crazy places if you just look around.

When they got rid of off-kilter I was very unhappy - not because I was a big off-kilter fan, but because I knew a cut like that would lead to cuts of things I did care about. Here we are with Epcot having fewer and fewer full time entertainers in world showcase.
