MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

Yeah, I'm gonna go there ~ the same was assumed about TBA.
Fair point…however this is being built from the ground up with a clearly higher budget versus TBA.Tiana’s definitely had a lot of behind the scenes politics that caused it to turn out the way it did.

This is not a lazy retheme but two brand new attractions Disney is trying their best to get right after destroying ROA and Tom Sawyer Island.

It's hard to tell from the perspective of the pictures ~ is the retaining wall high enough to block the view? Or can it be seen over?

The ground up part makes it potentially more difficult.
Tiana's was a re-theme of an existing structure.
Piston Peak is being shoehorned into a space that was not designed for it from the get go.
We'll have to see how the forced perspective works.
Will we be too close?
I fear some Beast's Castle problems.

I do think has been designed for this specific space. We won't really know until it opens exactly how well it all actually fits together, but it was certainly created to fit exactly here.

Agreed. How can we say it’s shoehorned in when they bulldozed everything? If they were trying to build a rapids ride on top of Tom Sawyer Island, it’d be shoehorned in. But, clearing several acres down to dirt and building something new is a custom build. It’s not unlike what they did to build MK in the 1960s/70s.

Because being designed to work within a certain context means more than fitting within a physical boundary. That they’re essentially building giant wall to block it is a pretty good indicator of its lack of cohesion with its surroundings.

Is it possible they're going to backfill the near side of that retaining wall to the height of the wall?

In other words, the wall is to hold dirt, not to block view?
