MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

You bring up a good reason guests should not control them! The car is a talking, thinking entity, and we are just passengers.

But

How about the guest teams up with the car and they work together to win the race 👍
That's serviceable. Give this guy a raise!

Agreed that it feels weird to steer a Cars universe car. Maybe it could be in ride vehicle "voting" to determine multiple paths? The override kicking in where there is traffic on a specific ride path, etc. Without the interactive element, just feels like a trackless ride with randomized ride paths and the ability to handle multiple types of terrain (which could also be interesting).

As someone who diverted the thread a week or so ago... I think it's happened again. Are we maybe open to expanding the definition of a construction thread while barely anything happens?
Or.. post one's off-topic posts in a thread in which they are on-topic. And if such thread doesn't exist make one.

The mods have come down hard on the idea that "if there's nothing new... go off topic!!"

I'm glad they do.

The Piston Peak Rally: I have to point out that the circular information about the ride system main attraction for Piston Peak is WILD!... If the patents are to be taken at face value, that is. I remember seeing content creators taking the "We Call It Imagineering" mockup at face value, and thinking they are jumping the gun, by claiming this was proof that there would be a rail in the final design, as that's not even what was being explained. Over time, I just believed that they're probably right, and all of the early speculation, and the timing of the one ride company having a similar trackless tech demo the year before was just a coincidence, and a trackless Free-Range system was probably just a pipe dream. Now, here we are again! What's most impressive to me, is just how secret this stuff has been kept, even if this was something they tried and abandoned. I'm even wondering if maybe that mockup was to throw any competitors off the scent?

I'm with some of you guys, in that I find it pretty hard to believe that they would give a driver very much control, even with a responsive space cushion override system, it just seems like there's just too many things that could go wrong. What if someone goes too slow, will it slow down the ride for everyone behind? Will it keep you from turning too far, and going back down the track? Yeah, the voting system is something that I could see, but to be totally honest... if it truly just ends up being virtually "trackless", in that there is no visible slot, rail, or wires, and there are maybe even several pre-programmed race scenarios, I think that just this part would still be a HUGE milestone for what's possible with a ride system!

I really hope that's what we are going to get, because I haven't really been as excited for the ride as much as I have been for what this faux National Park will look like, as a major vibe that I'm really looking forward to. I know that it seems a lot of people don't seem as keen on it, especially some of the content creators, who I feel have been veering more and more into toxic territory... Meanwhile, I've been looking at both concept art pieces (which clearly show the same place) and thinking: "Are you not seeing what I'm seeing? "This is not "going cheap" it seems to be going really, really big, actually! Maybe low expectations are good, but also, toxicity usually just breeds more toxicity.

I live not too far from Rocky Mountain Nat Park, and fantasy parks aren't a big selling point for some people who live out here, but I'm just happy to see this stuff represented in a Disney Park, and also don't get the hate, as long as you don't see the vehicles from Frontierland, it looks like it should be some amazing scenery, judging by what they have done with the rockwork in Disneyland/DCA!

Yep I’m very curious what they end up going with for the ride system.

It’s definitely going to be unique and distinct from RSR which is a good thing.
Exactly! I've seen so many people saying: "Don't they have that in California" or "So Test Track Next?" but I don't think it's actually going to be anything like that style of ride, and most people won't even know until they actually go on it. No matter if it's "Free-Range" or not, it'll surely be a completely different experience, not to mention completely different scenery.

I still go back to Scott Gustin’s posts on X about how much love and care is being put into this land which keeps me optimistic that it will be a slam dunk all around.

That's good to hear. I deleted the app way back, but I've seen some of his posts on Threads. Just not any like that. Pick your poison, I guess...

I just wish that there were more passionate people making the construction videos, rather than delving into toxicity, which would be OK if it's warranted, like it really kind of was during the pandemic, to be honest. They shouldn't have halted construction on Tron for so long to cover their current bottom line, but we've been in a different era for a while, now. When Brayden claimed that this land was Disney going cheap by building Piston Peak, because it was cheaper somehow to build a new land than maintaining RoA, I was like: "OK, now I'm officially done with this channel", not that I'd watched it for a while, but that's definitely "jumping the shark", for me. Like this land won't cost a fortune to maintain every year? I get that it has LL potential, and that's also part of it. I'm not blind, but I also personally think that turning RoA into a donut just so people can walk to Villains is a ludicrous idea. DL and Galaxy's Edge is not the same story. Yes, I'll really still miss it, but I've made my peace with it, and the people like Brayden that were still in denial, and trying to say what they should do instead after the land was already cleared, YIKES!

Theme Park Stop is usually just the facts on their construction videos, and their ones on Epic were really great, so it's nice to see them gearing up on these lands. I can't wait to see what ppl like Brickey thinks when he returns to FL and it's complete.

Don't start thinking to deeply about the logic of the Cars universe, it will take you to a very dark place.
Yeah I went down that rabbit hole and it gets weird!

This post on Reddit really summed it up:

Post by: Groundbreaking_Bag8 on Reddit

Sarge is a 1941 military Jeep, which implies that World War II canonically happened in the Cars universe. This means there was a Cars Hitler, a Cars Holocaust, a Cars Rape of Nanking, a Cars Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a Cars Nuremberg Trials, etc. What kind of car was Car Hitler? A VW? A forklift?

In the second movie, you can see a car having to remove his wheels to go through customs at the airport, which implies that 9/11 happened in this universe. But who was responsible? Were the planes hijacked by terrorist cars sent by Car Osama Bin Laden, or were the planes themselves radicalized?

The existence of Pope Pinion confirms that Christianity exists in this universe. Jesus Chrysler was bolted to a cross by Pontiac Pilate, who washed his wheels.

Some of the vehicles don't even have human-level sapience. In the first movie, tractors are herded like cows, and in some scenes you can see tiny little Volkswagens buzzing around like insects. What other real-life creatures have Cars counterparts? Are there wild Jaguars living in the jungles of Cars South America? Do they make submarines perform tricks at Cars Sea World?

Yeah let alone those Halloween “decorations” around Mater’s junk yard. They don’t appear to be your typical Home Depot fabrication. They look like actual crashed car remains. So what does that mean!?
