  • First Impressions
    • Really incredible work across the board this round. Focused, unique, inventive, exciting! Had a similar vibe to Vertigo earlier this season where even though there were a lot of players writing everything felt written with a very consistent tone and voice. The team was in sync in a way that is tough to pull off and in a way that this team has struggled with in the past. But ya'll pulled off something incredible here! Perhaps not realistic both in terms of it as a theme Disney would do or realistic in the scale of some attractions, but let's face it these games would be boring if hosts were too strict about things like that!
  • Music Loop - Outbound
    • A playlist of some kind as a more custom take on reading music is such a great "plus" to a presentation. Reading music is always a good way to set the mood, but when it is customized like this it shows the intentionality behind it. Love it!
  • Presentation - AGP
    • Presentation is gorgeous as always! Love the vision behind the designs. Great use of reference photos throughout by you and the rest of the team. It's a little touch, but the consistent borders around the photos is something I always personally like doing on my presentations. It adds a nice touch imo.
    • I do need to point out, that the "Time Travel Initiation Programming" (I'm assuming the coding at the start and end) is credited to Generative AI. This is a very small part of the presentation and seemingly just used to make some technobabble for the presentation. But I do need to call it out since the very first post on this thread very specifically lays out that generative AI of any kind is banned from this game. It's use here is so small and it was credited and it was the first time. So, I won't make it a big deal this time.
    • But I do want to be clear that it is a rule I take very seriously. As we head into the final 3 rounds, if anyone intentionally includes Generative AI of any kind in their final project they will be eliminated from the game. The whole point of the forum is to celebrate what makes us unique and to share our unique artistic vision. Some of the favorite bits I've seen from players are those small incidental stuff that others might not think of as important. Outsourcing the incidental stuff to AI robs you of the chance to make them special! Plus, it just takes the fun out of it. I hate being so serious about things when these games are just for fun, but there are some rules I am very passionate about.
    • Alright, now back to talking about how cool this project is
  • Intro/Land Description/Map - Space
    • This was a very unique project in that in blends a lot of elements that might have been seen before (steampunk, solarpunk, tomorrowland, discoveryland, epcot, etc) but it uses all these pieces in ways that I'm not sure I've seen before. The intro does a good job easing into the concept and setting the optimistic, fantastical tone right off the bat. With the land description building on that to make it all feel real and practical. I ADORE how interconnected the land is not just with the rides but with the pathways. Everything feel both intentional and alive.
    • Fantastic map! Once again driving home the interconnectedness of this land and how it all ties together. One of the cleanest maps I've seen
  • E - Formula 2100 - Outbound
    • I do like the future! And Formula One is ok! This ride is for me!
    • We talked directly about this ride on the podcast together so I don't want to spend toooooo much time here, but this was a definite stand out for me. I love a good three act structure for a ride. It has a ncie build up and some nice variety while still feeling focused. I like that the storytelling is more environmental/visual/motion based rather than a huge plot/narrative. The emotional journey the ride takes you on is clear even if there isn't a "Story" through most of it.
    • My one nitpick is that 6 different tracks and 6 cars going at once might be a bit unrealistic. The space need for 6 different slot car tracks would be a lot. It is not impossible though and would make for a jaw dropping finale. It definitely pushes the boundary a bit though.
    • Other than that thought the ride was pretty perfect. Love Boris!
  • D - The Expedition of Legends - Wiz/Space
    • I love the idea of this ride and I LOVE any interactive ride where the interactivity is not about shooting things or getting a high score!
    • The bioengineering as a method of study and apprectiation of culture/history is such a fascinating angle to take. It is so fun to blend this sci-fi concept with what feels like a sincere safari type ride with historical fantasy. And it is all handled really well! Really great attraction and another standout!
  • C - The MTA - AGP
    • Once again, I love how interconnected the land is! We all love PeopleMovers and I never would say it is a bad thing to add a Peoplemover or Peoplemover type experience to a land. But this is one of the best jobs I've seen at using a peoplemover to add to the themes/design of a land. This is so much more than just a transport ride touring the land. The way it weaves through everything feels so natural. And the fake out with the shared gondola station is a fun touch. the gondola in general was a great touch to add to the park!
  • B - Sky Balloons - Priest
    • I know you heard me say this in the podcast, but I really enjoyed the touch of the in lore explanation for what makes these hot air balloons special. Using the reality of the ride system to instead add to the land's story is great! Plus, I think the hot air balloons were a very good idea for a kinetic set piece for the land on top of being a fun ride. The artwork is also very much appreciated!
  • A - The Institute of the Infinitely Small - Space
    • I love the detail of the font getting smaller so much. One of my favorite small presentation touches I've ever seen. Not sure if it was Space who did that when writing it or AGP who did it when doing the presentation (ya'll work so well together as a duo that it can be tough to tell sometimes lol), but whoever did it big kudos for that!
    • Love this idea for a really unique playground/walkthrough! Adds a nice kiddie/goofy place for kids in an otherwise "heady" land, but without sacrificing the lofty vision. A good blend of grounded whimsy. Which "grounded whimsy" might be the best way to describe the tone overall!
  • Horizons - Space
    • Love the subtle epcot reference here. Specifically I love it because it is so subtle and more implied than anything.
    • A lovely seaside seafood restaurant overlooking the park's new lagoon. Upscale yet approachable. Classy yet fun. Really just a perfect restaurant here!
  • Shopping - Space
    • The flagship store in very nice. I love that it ties into a bit of everything from the land, yet it does so without sacrificing its own unique identity. Very good job striking that balance!
  • Sky 220 - AGP
    • Another epcot reference, this one slightly less subtle but also it works so well here that if I didn't know this was a spiritual succesor to and epcot restaurant I'd never guess this wasn't imagined from the ground up for this land. Just a fantastic way to round out the offerings here!
1773638213002.png

  • First Impressions
    • Any time I see players discussing a Fantasy Springs style mash up land I get really nervous. When done right they can be a fantastic way to blend multiple IPs together and do the immersion that is often seen in modern theme park lands without needing the whole land to just be one thing. But when done wrong it just feels like a bunch of loosely connected entirely different lands leading me to wish the team just chose one theme. So, I was really nervous seeing the team go this direction...
    • BUT ya'll nailed it!
    • I think what sells it is the strong connection tonally/thematically between the two halves of the land as well as the similar color schemes even if the visuals are distinct.
    • It isn't a perfect blend as the Hercules half feels slightly shortchanged while Aladdin feels like it could be a whole land on its own. But some minor nitpicking about balance aside ya'll did an incredible job bringing these two iconic films to life! films that are far too often overlooked by both real life and armchair imagineers. Love it!
  • Presentation - Bee
    • It's subtle, but the use of colors here is a really great way to tie the two halves together visually. The reference photos chosen, the custom logo, the very pleasing font. The presentation does a really great job at tying it all nicely as one package while being a very pleasant read!
  • Land Overview - Disney Man One
    • I love the focus on both the two movie's iconic status and the weenies/icons they could add to the park. plus, you nail the tone that the land needed to tie the films together! I woud've liked a bit more of the practicality of what parts like the entrance looked like or how the two halves shar the space. A map could've gone a LONG way here even if it was just an incredibly simple pencil and paper map. But still even without that you nailed the most important part which is the emotional journey these lands take guests on!
  • Aladdin's House - Bee
    • A fantastic mix of walk through, playground, and M&G! I would've gone crazy over the chance to play around on the streets of Agrabah doing "One Jump Ahead" type stuff. Really great use of space and a perfect pick for the A-Ticket!
  • Genie's Magic Lamp Spin - Panther
    • I saw the team almost just moved the magic carpets spinner here and then plussed it a bit and I am SO glad that isn't what ya'll went with because this is SO much better! A very creative flat ride that really elevates what a flat ride can be! Plus, a perfect way to do a "Genie" themed ride. The ride system is brilliant and the effects add a lot to the experience!
    • The camel easter egg at the end was a nice touch
  • Escape from the Cave of Wonders - Tiki
    • The ultimate Aladdin experience!
    • I don't have a ton to say here, but please don't take that as me not connecting with the ride. It's just that most of my comments would be "cool!" "wow!" That's so sick!"
    • I loved the queue and the pre-show. Very fun bit of world building to explain the extra carpets. It's the type of detail that I don't think is needed (audiences willing suspension of disbelief is an imagineer's greatest tool), but a detail that when done well can add a lot and shows the thoughtfulness/care put into the ride.
    • I very much appreciate how focused this ride is. We've talked before about how often times the best rides are the ones that adapt a specific sequence rather than the whole movie. Focusing fully on the Cave of Wonders was for sure the right call and allowed you to fully explore what makes that sequence incredible and translate that to a super fun experience!
  • The Hydra - Bee
    • Love a good family coaster with a simple story, a cool monster, and a great setting!
    • A coaster zipping through the underworld and encountering a monster is a great choice and I love the restraint here. There's always the temptation to make rides like this really over the top with a crazy amount of scenes or effects or a 90 foot tall animatronic or whatever. but what you have here is not only more realistic but also more focused. bigger isn't always better. Also, I love the coaster weaving around the creature's neck. Storytelling through the motion of the coaster is always one of the hardest to pull of but coolest things you can do!
  • Hercules: Zero to Hero - Aiden
    • First off, like I mentions, emergencies happen. I will not hold it against you that this was late at all. It was done before I went to write reviews so I'll count it exactly the same way I would have as if it was submitted last night. You take care and if you need anything let me know.
    • Love the passion here! this feels like a true love letter to Hercules and the ride system was a great fit here! The Pandora's Box in the queue is a particularly fun detail
    • I will say the big issue I have is that not every scene is needed. It is very fun to ride through the whole movie, but by doing so you don't get to tell your own narrative here and no individual scene gets to shine. It's essentially a very rushed/abbreviated version of the movie so if you don't already know the film you're going to be confused rushing from scene to scene to scene to scene. My advice would be to definitely pick a narrower focus. It's easier on you because you don't need to work in every detail and it often leads to better projects as scene have more time to breathe and be explored! I personally would suggest focusing in on the battle against the Titans/Hades. big action and effects that take advantage of the ride system plus a satisfying climax.
    • That being said, while I think a tighter focus could improve this, that does not in any way mean what you have is bad. the effects and storytelling in each scene is fantastic! the writing is very strong! I love the little touches that ground the project like the scents in scene 2 or the gentle swaying to the music in scene 9. You have a real sense of how to make your showscenes feel real. Every single scene is great and feels like it would be right at home in a real Disney ride!
  • Shopping/Dining - Warrior
    • I know you already said you planned to drop after this round so I am happy to see you end on a high note! I always loved indoor spaces themed as outdoor spaces like you have for the gift shop. And the food at the tavern is fantastic! Great way to end a great run this game

The Winner of the ABCDE Voyage is...

Team Cocoa!

Honestly, in nearly any other round of not just this but nearly any other game, Team Citrus would have had this in the bag. Hero's Crossing was incredible and aside from some minor nitpicks about balance between the two halves or pacing on one ride, their land was nearly flawless. This should in no way be taken as a loss. But Marseille 2100 might be one of my all time favorite projects I've read and is easily up there with Vertigo for a favorite of this game. Team Cocoa knocked it out of the park!

We have three Platinum Pizza Moons to award! Whoever holds a Platinum Pizza Moon is guaranteed a spot in the Final and is safe from the elimination at the end of the 8th Expedition.

The first two Platinum Pizza Moons are based on the season as a whole. The players nominated each other. Recognizing their fellow Imagineers and celebrating the work they've done together!

Congratulations to @spacemt354 and @Lizzy May Bee! And welcome to the Final 8!

The third Platinum Pizza Moon is based specifically off of Expedition #07.

Congratulations to @Outbound! Welcome to the Final 8!

Sadly, it is time to say goodbye to one of our Imagineers.

@WaltWiz1901

You have grown so much and did some incredible work all season! I look forward to seeing you continue to grow and I look forward to working with you in future competitions! This was not an easy decision to make as every player had their time to shine and there really are no weak links. I'd love to have you around as a guest judge though if you want to stay involved

With that, let's head off to the final Galaxy!

Good luck, Voyagers

Welcome to the Fifth Galaxy
uLNEjHa.png

Celestial Dreamin' will be divided into 5 Wondrous Galaxies with each new Galaxy adding a new twist or element to the gameplay.

The Fifth Galaxy we encounter is named: The Final Galaxy! Named after the founder of the Imagineering Forums: Jebediah Thefinalgalaxy. I believe it's a very common last name in France.

Imagineering Expedition #08

Ed8vCP2.png

I have so many prompts left, but only 3 rounds to use them! So, let's see how many we can knock out right now!

--What you need to know--

1mL9Cse.png

There will be Five Different Prompts posted. Both teams have only Five Players left. Meaning each player will choose one prompt to do. These will be intentionally simpler/shorter. I'm not expecting every player to turn in their own personal 80 page Google Doc. But use this as a chance to show off your skills and what makes you special! These smaller rounds are a great chance to get a bit creative and a bit more experimental both with your topic and with how you handle it!

Remember, 5 prompts and 5 players. Every member of the team should do a different prompt. You need to communicate with your team to decide who does what prompt. You are more than welcome to help each other out or encourage each other, but ultimately whatever prompt you choose is your responsibility and your chance to shine!

--The Prompts--
1. Pitch a Scare Zone for Halloween Horror Nights

2. Pitch a House/Walkthrough Experience for Universal Fan Fest Nights

3. Revitalize a current Epcot attraction with a new generation update similar in scale to Test Track 2.0 or Test Track 3.0

4. Pitch a line of collectible merchandise. Something along the lines of pin sets, tsum tsums, etc

5. Add an interactive game to an existing land

There are your five prompts. Work with your team to decide who is doing what. Your final projects do not need to connect to each other or be presented together, but you are free to do so if you would like.

We're in the endgame now. It is your chance to show me what you got!

There will be two eliminations at the end of this round. Players with Platinum Pizza Moons are safe from elimination.

--When is it due?--

This project is due Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at 11:59 pm Universal Hollywood Time
(3 am WDW Time, 2 am Six Flags over Texas Time, 5 pm the next day Tokyo Disneyland Time)

Oh crap! Apologies for that, the coding was a last minute idea I thought would make the presentation look cool but that is NOT an excuse for using it in the project. Please be aware that I am extremely against AI in the creative department, as it will always remain being a generic mouthpiece that regurgitates OUR work that spans decades.

Totally get that and I knew it was just a bit of last minute presentation. I almost didn't say anything because of that, but figured it was better to say something so that if it comes up later with something bigger from someone else it won't look like I'm being inconsistent or playing favorites.

Excited to see what how your project turns out this round!

@TheOriginalTiki proudly presents...

Disappointment Boulevard

Watch this clip for a taste of the "social anxiety horror" that this scare zone is trying to emulate

Set in the New York area of Universal Studios Florida, Disappointment Boulevard (named after the original working title of its movie source material) is a social anxiety scare zone inspired by Ari Aster's Beau is Afraid, specifically the chaotic city the film's first section is set in. Within Disappointment Boulevard guests don't have to worry about people chasing them with chainsaws, killer dolls, creepy ghosts, or any other kind of cryptid. The enemy of this scare zone is your own anxiety, and the zone is designed to set off every social phobia there is when it comes to that.
beau-is-afraid-filming-locations-in-downtown-montreal-v0-v72ihhpjw3sa1.png

Fake "trash" bags will be piled high in various corners of the land, serving both as set dressing and natural jump scare spots for the different actors. The actors in Disappointment Boulevard are essentially heightened versions of how vaguely threatening social situations come across to someone with an anxiety disorder. Different graffiti is layered over each other, ominous figures loom on fire escapes, music and sirens constantly blare way too loudly, and no matter what you do or where you go you can't help but feel like YOU are the center of attention in this hostile urban environment.
i-found-this-shot-from-beau-is-afraid-really-interesting-it-v0-MTNjcGU2ZDBmcmFjMbp5HpW6Yh3brTMx7zsrP2wAzNqk6c4Qnn7hWV2FMJOQ.png

A lot of the memorable scares come from different every day life situations taken to extremes. A mother screams for her lost son, and when she finds him she screams in his face about disobeying her even louder. A homeless person receiving soup from a charity food truck turns the tables by screaming about the soup being too hot and that the charity workers are trying to burn them. An overbearing man on a Segway weaves his way through the crowd screaming "BEEP BEEP" in a tone that's equal parts aggressive and entitled. Multiple different actors will follow guests and just continually beg for help...for what they're never clear on.
beau-is-afraid-filming-locations-in-downtown-montreal-v0-v9jesbq5t3sa1.png

At certain points whole waves of actors react to a swarm of unseen deadly poisonous spiders as though the spiders are crawling all over them. Actors falsely accuse guests of non-crimes. "You just stepped on a crack. YOU KILLED YOUR MOM!!" "WHY'D YOU WALK ON THE GRASS", "THAT'S NOT YOUR BENCH!!". Literally no corner is safe from the crippling social judgement. Throughout the madness different groups will be continually arguing over each other as Doomsday preachers yell into the void over megaphones on street corners. Guests have a constant sense that they're in the way and being watched.
images

The icon of Disappointment Boulevard is the closest thing the section of the movie gets to a horror movie villain...the tattooed man. The tattooed man is a tall, shirtless man covered head to toe in jet black tattoos. He also glares at guests through jet black contact lenses. The Tattooed Man is clearly the most aggressive and visually intimidating character on Disappointment Boulevard, but the actor is completely silent. He menaces guests through far off stares, lingering looks, and following from a distance. He's the embodiment of how omnipresent the "threat" feeling of social anxiety is.
maxresdefault.jpg

While Disappoint Boulevard doesn't contain traditional Halloween spook house scares, the social horror that Ari Aster bottled up into this section of Beau is Afraid has been crystallized into an even purer form of scary by Universal Creative. It proves to be one of the most disturbing, immersive, and full on terrifying scare zones in the event's long history...just built on an entirely different kind of terror.

Introducing the newest line of merchandise from the Disney theme parks...

DISNEY FIDGURINES!

Fidgets are very popular nowadays. Everybody needs SOMETHING to do with their hands to help relieve stress - and anybody who's been to a Disney theme park knows that the experience can get very stressful! Surely can tap into this market while also catering to their fans' love of collecting things that look like their favorite characters (as shown by the success of Vinylmation, Tsum Tsum, etc). But how?

Enter Disney Fidgurinestm (a combination of "fidget" and "figurine"). They're sort of a cross between one of those tangle fidgets and a Mr. Potato Head. Each one is a little figure of a Disney character (about the size of a Vinylmation). You can twist the character's arms, legs, head, lower body, and tail (assuming they have one) or even pull them off and put them back on in strange places. That's exciting, right?

I've created the following GIF to help explain the idea. I know it looks like somebody dismembered Mickey Mouse, but I swear that wasn't the intention.

Mickey fidget idea.gif

Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World will receive a set of fifty Fidgurines. That's fifty characters. If the Fidgurines sell well enough, more characters can be released. But, the starting lineup consists of...

1. Mickey Mouse
2. Minnie Mouse
3. Donald Duck
4. Goofy
5. Pluto
6. Daisy Duck
7. Chip
8. Dale
9. Winnie the Pooh
10. Piglet
11. Tigger
12. Rabbit
13. Eeyore
14. Figment (this one's a Walt Disney World exclusive!)
15. Pinocchio
16. Dumbo
17. Mad Hatter
18. Peter Pan
19. Captain Hook
20. Mr. Toad (this one's a Disneyland exclusive!)
21. Dopey
22. Louis the Alligator
23. Woody
24. Buzz Lightyear
25. Lumiere
26. Sebastian the Crab
27. Ursula
28. Genie
29. Henry the Bear (this one's a Walt Disney World exclusive!)
30. Hatbox Ghost
31. Mike Wazowski
32. Sulley
33. Olaf
34. Rafiki
35. Timon
36. Pumbaa
37. Stitch
38. Maui
39. Mr. Incredible
40. Mrs. Incredible/Elastigirl
41. Tinker Bell
42. Crush the Sea Turtle
43. Remy
44. Zebra from "it's a small world"
45. Roger Rabbit (this one's a Disneyland exclusive!)
46. Flik
47. Kermit the Frog (this one's a Walt Disney World exclusive!)
48. Yeti from the Matterhorn (this one's a Disneyland exclusive!)
49. Judy Hopps
50. Nick Wilde

These will sell like hotcakes! At least, I think I will. Even if nobody actually uses the one they buy as a fidget, I'm sure it would look nice on their desk or something.

Here is my submission.

~ ~ ~

Quest for the Royal Relics
Disneyland's Fantasyland is where some of the studio's most beloved animated characters come to life. As such, it seems only natural that there be references to films all across the Disney canon. But what if there was a way we could become part of the story and interact with some of the most notable props and artifacts from those stories? That's what Quest for the Royal Relics is all about.

The former Castle Holiday Shoppe has been transformed into a headquarters of sorts for Merlin, the wise magician from The Sword in the Stone. Those willing to join the quest will find him here. Appearing from within a magic mirror - not that one, mind you - and rendered in brand-new hand-drawn animation, Merlin explains the quest: A spell gone wrong has led to the most prized artifacts of Fantasyland and its inhabitants to be spread all around. We must locate them and keep them all tucked away before they fall into the wrong hands. Indeed, Merlin's age-old nemesis, Mad Madam Mim, is trying to find them, too; in hopes of using them in a nasty spell. We've got to find them all before she does!

Like most interactive games at Disney Parks, this game is played through the Play Disney app. In game mode, you will have a shelf upon which each relic will be placed once you find it. All you have to do is take a picture of each relic, and it will appear on your shelf. Plus, once you find each relic, it will magically come to life in significance that you have found it. For example, the Enchanted Rose will glow, or Peter Pan's panflute will play his familiar leitmotif.

Incidentally, here's where each relic can be found:

Poisoned Apple: Naturally, at the entrance to Snow White's Enchanted Wish.
Jiminy Cricket's badge: On the windowsill at Geppetto's workshop (outside Pinocchio's Daring Journey)
Sorcerer's hat: At the entrance to Mickey's Toontown.
Magic feather: In the queue for Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
Deed to Toad Hall: In the queue for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
Glass slipper: Inside the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
Mad Hatter's hat: Near the entrance to Alice in Wonderland.
Panflute: In the queue for Peter Pan's Flight.
Aurora's tiara: In the gardens of Snow White Grotto.
Mary Poppins' umbrella: Near the Matterhorn.
Honey pot: Near the Casey Jr. Circus Train station.
Dinglehopper: Near Pixie Hollow.
Enchanted Rose: At Red Rose Taverne.
Magic lamp: Near "it's a small world."
Woven band: At the entrance to Fantasy Faire.
Medallion: In the central courtyard of Fantasyland.
Floating lantern: Hiding in a tree in Fantasy Faire.
Carrot nose: On a shelf in the Castle Holiday Shoppe.
Sabino's lute: Near Clopin's Music Box in Fantasy Faire.

Collect all 20 and return to Merlin's headquarters, and you will be rewarded with a golden badge not unlike Jiminy Cricket's, proclaiming you to be a "Great Hero and Scavenger Extraordinaire."

Journey Into Imagination-

Riders begin drifting into the Dreamport, a large steampunk-style celestial workshop that is dark at first, constellations are seen above the ride vehicles from “windows” as a suspended Dreamcatcher lays dormant. All of a sudden, a soft humming begins as the Dreamcatcher powers up using layered projection mapping and practical lighting. Steam vents release mist as the gears begin to rotate. Fiber optics glow throughout the ship as the Dreamfinder steps forward on a descending platform.

“Ah. You’re just in time! The Dream Catcher is ready to sail but we can’t travel on a single idea alone!” The Dreamfinder says as he gestures to a fun console behind him shown lights with various symbols on them (Paintbrush, Quill, Music Note, and a Magnifying Glass)

“If we want to power the Dreamport, we’re going to need the full spectrum of Imagination! Now let’s see we have everything we need except… ah right!” Dreamfinder continues before gesturing up to the windows.

The constellations above shift, forming the shape of a small dragon. The little familiar creature winks before disappearing into a glowing orb that zips down, richoeting through the workshop and causing all types of mischief with items falling over and being knocked into.

The orb dives into a glass cylinder labeled “Idea Chamber”, causing the light to reflect and a shape to form.

“Two tiny wings! Eyes big and yellow! Horns of a steer but a very friendly fellow!” Dreamcatcher plays as the projection has a hologram effect manifesting each part as he describes it.

Suddenly, a different voice completes the song “From head to tail, I’m royal purple pigment. And here! Voila! I am a Figment!”

The lights blast out as a full animatronic figment takes the place of the hologram.
Figment bows as the Dreamfinder smiles, lifting back up towards the Dreamcatcher.

“Follow us! Our first spark awaits!” The ride vehicles move forward out into the sky outside of the Dreamport, blue and beautiful with clouds circling the ride vehicle as gentle winds blow at riders simulating flying.

“Before imagination can become… well anything! It starts as a possibility, a thought, an idea, a-”

Neon lighting arcs around the ride vehicle. “Well I was going to say a spark!” The Dreamcatcher comes into view with Figment and the Dream Catcher just as the sky begins to darken. The clouds move as the wind effects pick up.

“It’s a Brainstorm!” Figment yells excitedly as letters, notes, equations, and sketches begin raining from above. Figment disappears into his side car before appearing as a projection trying to grab all of the raining sparks.

“I’ve got them Figment!” The Dreamfinder says as the Dreamcatcher begins sucking in all of the rain. As the skies clear, a magical rainbow appears before the guests.

“Ooh! It’s so beautiful! Can I play with it?” Figment asks, eager.

“Why yes Figment! We can see what happens when imagination is set free!”

Figment grabs the rainbow before pulling out a paintbrush, dipping it in the rainbow before drawing a door way allowing riders to continue through into the next scene.

You emerge into a vast painters studio, inspired by the original art room with brand new effects and projections. Canvas seem to stretch endlessly with a manner of creatures leaping around, seemingly made from origami. Large paintbrushes hang overhead as Figment can be seen above you on a paintbrush, holding his smaller paintbrush. As he animates flicking it towards various blank spaces in the walls, oceans seem to appear, mountains rise, and the origami creatures becomes colored in wild fun colors. Dreamfinder comments on how they’ve found the first spark, Shape. The artistic verse of “One Little Spark” plays us out as we continue into a painted novel open.

You appear to be in the pages of a book as Dreamfinder is sitting at the desk writing stories with all kinds of words and letters flying over his head through a hologram effect. Quills are situated, writing on their own along the walls of the room. The car passes in front of 3 different books. In the first one, a knight is bravely defending a princess from a dragon. The book is cutout so it visualizes the scene in 2D animated flats. In the next, a superhero is standing up after saving the world as an animated crowd cheers for them. In this one, the superhero cutout disappears and is replaced by Figment in a superhero costume still being cheered on. In the final story, a man is being stalked by a creepy monster when Figment appears and changes the creepy monster into a funny caricature of itself while the main is shown to be big and strong instead of cowardly. Dreamfinder comments on how they’ve found the next spark which was Meaning. A new verse of “One Little Spark” plays this scene out”

The ride continues past a large musical sheet that Figment is making edits to. You enter a grand illuminated concert hall with instruments floating in the air playing themselves as glowing notes spiral around the room. Dreamfinder is at the center orchestrating their tune. Figment appears in a specific blue hat with stars in a tongue-in cheek reference as he giggles with the Dreamfinder. The vehicles turn to show Figment also on the other side of the track as he has his headphones on and begins adding a kazoo, increasing the tempo of the song and morphing it into “One Little Spark” as the Dreamfinder mentions that we have found another spark, Sound and that there is only one spark left to go.

Figment above us makes a large bang on a drum and we begin to seemingly shrink to follow the soundwave. We end up in a miniature laboratory with Figment and Dreamfinder wearing lab equipment as we are surrounded by giant snowflakes, water droplets, and a massive butterfly. Dreamfinder addresses the riders that this is the most important part of imagination, Discovery. He explains that as long as there are people trying to discover, there will always be imagination in the world. He pulls a level as a slideshow of different inventions, rockets, machines, and cities form out of light. Now, with all the sparks we have to get back to the Dreamport.

On your way back, Figment’s footprints can be seen going around the ride vehicle as he claims “he knows a shortcut”. You suddenly appear in the Dreamport with Dreamfinder and Figment as the elements of Imagination combine to form… a swirling orb shown through a projector. The room begins to smell like flowers, then the ocean, then cinnamon rolls. The shape morphs between different images, a rollerskate, a moon, a dolphin, a skunk before it expands and projects stars, rainbows, and abstract shapes on all of the walls.

“What is it?” Asks Figment.

“No one knows, my friend. This is pure Imagination. It’s whatever they want it to be.” Dreamfinder responds.

“Can it be a rocket ship? Or a racecar? Or maybe a jelly sandwich!” Figment guesses.

Dreamfinder laughs with Figment.

“Well, I hope you enjoyed your trip today. Let your imagination guide you. Every idea, dream, and possibility begins with you!”

“Let’s give our friends something to remember then!” Figment snaps his finger as the room transforms using the 2.5D tech into a large expanse of outer space with Figments and Dreamfinders everywhere. Fireworks light up the sky as shooting stars shoot past the ride vehicle. Various sparks, musical notes, colors, and words appear all over the vast system. A massive constellation of Figment waves goodbye. After this finale, the ride vehicles turn back to enter the Dreamport again.

Before we get into the reviews of the different pieces I wanna give a shout out to @Outbound for doing the presentation tying Team Cocoa's projects together! The team element does not matter as a much as the individual components for when it comes to judging. Plus, the finalists are chosen based on the game as a whole not just this round meaning that this round is less about who wins, but rather a last chance for players to show off what they can do. All that being said, it was very fun to see Cocoa's projects all tied into a narrative and strung together. The blog was fantastic and while there was some team effort deciding on the direction, Outbound really did a great job doing all the extra writing and work that came with tying it all together. With him already having a pizza moon and already having a spot in the final 8 I wouldn't have faulted them for taking a backseat, but using this as a chance to help the other players on their team shine and go the extra mile was really cool to see!

With that out of the way, let's get to the match ups!

Prompt #01
  • Arbolidores: Greed's Nature - Tcool
    • Love the dual meaning of the name. Simple yet a clever touch
    • Great idea for a scarezone! Love the focus on the environmental design. It really grounded the experience and showcased the strengths of scarezones over mazes. Even the way the Bark Scares and the Roots interact/hide in environment was fun.
    • The character moments are perfectly small scale and atmospheric. The type of thing that even if you just walked through you could enjoy. A good amount of lore/story to reward those who look for it, but also a concept that you can understand the basics of at a glance.
    • Again, I think my favorite part is how practical and real you made it feel. Little touches like blacklights creating glowing veins or the shaman's stage sell it. This seems almost less like an armchair imagineering pitch and more like you're describing an actual scare zone!
  • Disappointment Boulevard - Tiki
    • This project truly encapsulates what I love about Tiki projects and what I've loved about Citrus/Stella. A clever creative oddball idea that shouldn't work and yet you find a way to make it great!
    • This was a very daring choice with how out of the box this is for a scarezone. Anytime there's something this out of the box there are bound to be issues, but I promise the creative highs balance them out. I love big swings and when someone is taking a big swing it is easier to overlook smaller issues that might have been a bigger deal on a safer project.
    • To get it out of the way up top, the main issue I have is that scarezones are scary, but they are fun scary. They are places people enjoy going and it is different kind of fear than what you captured here. which is good because just navigating the park most scarezones are pretty impossible to avoid and you'll likely walk through the same ones multiple times even beyond your intended visit to enjoy it. Killer dolls are fun scary, intentionally triggering an anxiety attack doesn't sound like fun scary. It sounds unpleasant especially when you are likely to walk through it several times.
    • That being said, I can overlook the issue of an uncomfortable scare zone because that is in service of making a really incredibly unique take on a haunt experience. This is the type of "can't get it anywhere else" experience I could see the whole event marketted around. A gimmick, but it a good way. A whole new kind of terror for the event!
    • The various ways you set off and trigger the anxiety response are really clever. From the subtle to the over the top. I was at first feeling critical of the lack of set pieces scare zones are known for, but the simpler approach where subtle changes make the whole area just feel slightly off was so fun and the right call.
    • Even in a regular scarezone, often the most unsettling moments are when one monster just stares you down, leaning into that with the tattooed man was great!
  • Winner of Prompt #01 - @TheOriginalTiki - I went back and forth a few times between TCool's perfectly executed traditional scarezone and Tiki's big swing. Ultimately giving the win to the wilder pick. Though as a reminder, these match ups are just for fun and not an indication of who will be a finalist
Prompt #02
  • Sinners: A Night to Remember - Outbound
    • Like I mentioned with your work on the presentation, I definitely admire that you didn't rest on your laurels and take the week off even though you have immunity
    • Really love this! Gonna say my only real minor critcism first just to get it out of the way: this feels more horror night than fan fest. Like the format of the show/concert/walkthrough blend is very fan fest, but the theme of a horror movie when there is a whole separate event centered around horror movies is perhaps an odd choice. That being said, I would also argue that Sinners is not really a traditional horror movie and would feel more at home among the sci-fi/ anime action of Fan Fest then it would as a traditional haunted house. So, even with this as my only real criticism I'm torn on whether or not I'd even consider it a criticism.
    • Sinners is one of my favorite movies of the last several years so I'm on board right off the bat. Honestly the only reason choosing Sinners doesn't feel like cheating is that Bee chose scott Pilgrim another one of my all time favorites lol
    • You cover a lot of ground here, but you do it really cleverly through very simple quick snippets that keep it from being overwhelming. You set up everything but without it feeling like exposition. Good balance between detail and pacing both in the experience and the write up
    • Of course, the main appeal is the show in the Juke Joint. I think you captured what made that sequence great really well. I love that even with you keeping the storyteling very simple without much plot, you still have a build to the experience. The emotions keep rising and every few songs something raises things to the next level with "I Lied to You" transforming the whole experience and "Pale Pale Moon" doing it again. Fantastic pacing. Great choice of songs. Very fun finale. The vampires feel a bit tacked on to the experience, but also this is "fan fest" so the people here should be "fans" wanting the full fan service from the film. I think you took great advantage of the unique setting for this project and made something really special!
  • Scott Pilgrim vs the Audience - Bee
    • You mentioned not actually being a big Scott Pilgrim fan before this and from context I don't think you know this. But the twist you do of having the plot of the movie/comic be derailed as a bait and switch is very similar to what they did with the Netflix animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. I'm not saying this in a "oh, they did this already" kind of way. I'm saying this in a "you nailed the tone so perfectly that I think you accidentally did what Bryan Lee O'Malley did IRL" kind of way.
    • Also, I know this was a busy week for you. I want to take a moment to shout out still finding time to make something great even though with immunity you didn't need to. Really shows your dedication!
    • Anyways, I have less to say about this one. But not in a bad way. This is a really clever blend of fan service, fun visuals, and creative storytelling. Breaking the fourth wall in a super delightful way. Taking advantage of the unique event to make something more immersive and interactive than would usually be possible
    • You have a lot of great gags. You have a great selection of show scenes. I love the unique visual style. Your write up is very focused. The ending with the back cover stopping them from attacking the audience is brilliant! Just a great bit of comedic writing!
  • Winner of Prompt #02 - @Lizzy May Bee - I again went back and forth. If I count the extra work on the blog and the website tying everyone's projects together then Outbound would have the edge, but just looking purely at the Fan Fest house I think I gotta give it to Bee
Prompt #03
  • The American Adventure: Last 100 Years - Priest
    • I didn't even consider World Showcase attractions for this prompt, but I think that was a really clever idea. The show is an astounding work of imagineering, but an update could definitely help it as it is rare to see it ever have more than a quarter full theater.
    • I feel the show could end one scene earlier. The Ground Zero flag raising would be a strong visual to end on highlighting America's resilience and willingness to rebuilt and come together after tragedy. A bittersweet yet hopeful final note. Covid is more just a bitter note to end on. That being said, I'm really just nitpicking here. You have a great selection of scenes for the last 100 years of important moments that changed the course of our history.
    • I really love the idea of the video scenes being shown on formats from the time! That is such a clever touch and grounds the whole show
    • My only real issue here is wanting more! This reads like an outline of a project rather than as the project itself. I get the sense that time got away from you a bit and you meant to add more later which is a shame because this is a great outline for a really well done update!
  • Imaginatio 4.0 - Aiden
    • Congrats again on getting married! Best excuse there is for almost missing the deadline lol. I joked about it in the chat thread, but seriously go enjoy honeymoon! there will be more games! But it really does show your passion for imagineering that even with that going on you still chose to spend time with us working on this!
    • It is arguably a right of passage for armchair imagineers to pitch their Journey into Imagination update! Your's is another strong contender in a long line of imagineer pitches for Imagination.
    • This might sound like an insult, but I promise I mean it 100% as a complement. I admire that you didn't try to do a clever inversion or twist here. You played it straight and just did "Here is a realistic version of a new Dreamfinder/Figment ride built on what is there." You didn't feel the need to do some gimmick with it, you didn't turn it into a massive trackless E-Ticket, you didn't shy away from Dreamfinder because he's the popular choice. You played it all straight and made a simple, sincere Imagination 4.0 and I think that was for sure the best call here.
    • I don't have a ton to say, but I really love simple elements you reused here slotted in seamlessly like the "shortcut" and the footprints around the vehicle. Made it feel real and practical and grounded without sacrificing the whimsy and fun!
    • Great amount of fan service without just being a retread of the original ride. Love it!
  • Winner of Prompt #03 - @AidenRodriguez731 - Both were great and with some more time Priest might've taken it. but as is Aiden's feels more complete while Priests is more of a proof of concept (but a very strong concept). That being said, remember that winning and losing here might not determine the final 8 as that is based on the season as a whole.
Prompt #04
  • Captain Cacao's Creature Crew - AGP
    • Awwwwwwwww so cute!
    • Love the presentation and the artwork! Really helps the idea pop!
    • Blindboxes with relatively cute tiny keychains/figures are huge right now. Disney Springs just opened a store dedicated to these kinds of collectibles about two months ago or so. This is an increidbly realistic pick! But still a very fun one. Who doesn't love a cheap yet adorable souvenir?
    • The tie in to a video game is a really fun and clever! Love the SA8 Easter egg (Though Epic Dreams was a better project :P ). Giving the collectibles that extra incentive is a good touch.
    • Once again, SO CUTE! The artwork adds a ton here!
  • Disney Fidgurines! - Panther
    • Awwwwwww so cute!
    • Like blind boxes, fidget toys are also a HUGE deal right now. Some can be really great and relaxing. some are just silly. But either way they are super popular so a line of fidgets was a great call!
    • I love the touch on making them double as just figures to display. Gives them a versatality that helps appeal to older collectors rather than feeling like just toys. Plus, that helps future proof them a bit if the fidget trend dies out
    • The interchangeable pieces are a blast and would add some of the fun of a potato head. I didn't have the same words for it back then as we do now, but I definitely used my Mr Potato Head as a fidget toy as a kid popping arms in and out to make the satisfying noise. Leaning into that and adding in more characters that you could mix and match is brilliant.
    • I feel like 50 characters is a bit ambitious for a first wave as usually waves of collectibles like this come in groups of 5-10. But honestly even mentioning that is such a nitpick lol
    • I love having a few park exclusives! I want to collect them all!
  • Winner of Prompt #04 - @Architectural Guinea Pig . Another very close match up! Honestly I think the Fidgurines was the strong idea, but the presentation and artwork pushed AGP over the edge. That being said, remember that winning and losing here might not determine the final 8 as that is based on the season as a whole.
Prompt #05
  • Epcot Legacy Lens - Space
    • Like I mentioned with Outbound and Bee, I admire you not just taking the week off even with immunity. I was excited to see what you would do here and I'm glad you stuck to it to do something great!
    • Only real nitpick is that this definitely feels very fan servicey more that realistically what they'd do. But also Epcot has been leaning in more and more to fan service lately and you really smartly tie it into the 45th anniversary which grounds the otherwise fan servicey idea. Meaning that even my nitpick doesn't really count lol
    • I think this is a great use of the Play App and a really fun way to highlight how much the park has changed. A fun scavenger hunt that ties to the park's history is a prefect way to celebrate Epcot's anniversary
    • Little touches like the badges in the app and the exclusive pin really help sell it. Plus, the music is such a fun "plus" to the experience.
    • Simple yet prefect game for the park's legacy!
  • Quest for the Royal Relics - Disney Man One
    • This reminds me a lot of the gold Fab 50 character states WDW added for the 50th. Especially the ones like stitch, Abu, and Tinkerbell that blend into the environments. Sure your game is adding these props to the land as a part of the gameplay, but ALSO this serves to just add extra like to Disneyland by adding in all these new props that would be fun photo ops even for people not playing the game.
    • The game itself is simple, but in a good way. Scavenger hunt with a bit of a story. Can't beat that! Making the game more complex would honestly start to take away from it.
    • I don't have much to say, but that isn't in a bad way. You have a good selection of props that would blend in well to the land adding extra magic to the park while also being a good selection for the game. A good number to make the game feel satisfying without being overwhelming. Just really solid work!
  • Winner of Prompt #05 - @spacemt354 - It feels like a broken record to say how close things were, but this is an incredibly stacked cast so of course every round would be close! Ultimately while I think Disney Man One's game would add more to the land it is in, I think Space's game sounds more special as a game. Though really could've gone either way. That being said, remember that winning and losing here might not determine the final 8 as that is based on the season as a whole yada yada you get the gist by now

The Winner of the Every-Voyage, Everywhere, All at Once is...

Team Citrus!

While not a traditional team round, both teams did a great job supporting each other and ultimately with a score of 3 to 2 Team Citrus came out ahead! As always, it was a near tie between Citrus and Cocoa. Two increidbly well matched teams full of some incredible imagineers! I look forward to working with all of you in the future

We have three Platinum Pizza Moons previously awarded meaning that Space, Bee, and Outbound are safe from the elimination at the end of the 8th Expedition.

There are only 5 more spots left in our final 8 which means that sadly it is time to say goodbye to two of our Imagineers.

@TheOriginalTiki

You have done incredible work this season and persevered long after many others would have given up considering the difficulties you have faced and your tight schedule. Ultimately your elimination is less due to your performance and more due to your honesty. You have a very busy schedule and told me that while you didn't want to drop you didn't mind being cut if there were enough active players for the finals. Your dedication to this forum is something I've always admired and you are one of our strongest writers. You always have pushed me and all of us to think further outside the box. I can't wait to see what you'll be cooking up in the future and I'm happy to see you go out on a high note!

@AidenRodriguez731

You have played a great game and made so many memorable contributions! Despite being a relative newcomer you've been able to hold your own among veterans. Ultimately the big thing holding you back all season has been your availability. Which is totally 100% understandable! This is game after all, real life has got to come first. But ultimately with only two rounds left availability is one of the bigger factors just from a practicality stand point. But it won't be long until the next game and I hope to be playing alongside you in the future!

With that, let's head off to the Penultimate Voyage!

Good luck, Voyagers
