MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

I more so think they're focusing on getting the construction walls smaller. Ie I could see them open up whatever it is is being built over by HM and the river and push construction walls back

I doubt it, they are moving at exactly the pace they want to be. Lots to get done here and their goal is fairly short. You never know what might happen along the way but DL got through the river transformation and MK will too
Man I agree with that. If only people would realize how many cubic yards of soil have to be moved just to raise the level of the land to what is currently the level of the pathway in Frontierland. It will be a long time yet due to hauling, leveling compacting and grading that must be completed before they can build anything else. Other than utilities I don't remember seeing anything really being even approached yet as you look towards the Villeins area.

This may be a dumb question, but I don't really know anything about this type of construction. Will they box out the areas for foundations and utilities, or just fill and level the whole thing and dig out later as needed?

Apologies if this patent was already posted. I saw this posted elsewhere and stole a few photos. It basically looks like the big Cars E-Ticket. It’s interesting that it gives riders a modicum of control or choice along the path.

Maybe this car driving ride will put an end to Speedway over in Tomorrowland and that area can be redeveloped. I cannot imagine that area bringing in lots of revenue for the park.
Feels like two entirely different things to me.

As a father, I truly do not understand the obsession of many to dump the speedway. And the continued obsession of “but how much revenue does x/y/Z generate”? Makes me want to punch my screen.

Great find @wdwmagic!

Can someone who's good with computers figure out if this track layout fits in Piston Peak??!?
I don't think it is? The patent shows something like a large showbuilding, something that the Cars ride coming to Piston Peak isn't going to really do besides the welcome center queue. Sure it's possible that the showbuilding is just for patent reasons and could definitely be for the Cars attraction, but it doesn't really match the area of RoA it's supposed to go into.

It's possible it was an early idea for Piston Peak that they decide not to go with, but was interesting enough to patent.

There are two red in this ride system of me:

1. Is it going to have "better" or "worse" interactive roles/control (e.g., driver) like Smuggler's Run? If so, that is gong to cause all sorts of problems that are now well-known.

2. The "override" experience is critical here. While only a few phrases sprinkled here and there, do not discount how that will feel physically when you are steering a car-like vehicle and it is not responding the way you expect (and not because of a physical barrier you can see and sense as in Autopia). Adrenaline/heart rate response spikes and nausea could occur for some guests.

I wouldn't expect the patent to show the track layout. It's a concept, not a site plan.

That's the whole point of this ride system though. Think of it is a much more advanced form of Tomorrowland Speedway, with the ride system managing parameters and taking control where needed.
It will be interesting to see what we end up with.
If we can steer, everyone will want to be in the seat that can steer.
I guess that goes to re rideability, families can re ride and take turns steering.

I really just want to circle back to why it was nonsense that so many were buying into the last patent being for this ride. In no way did that describe anything they have shown specifically for the Piston Peak off road main attraction.

The We Call it Imagineering segment in Steve’s article again briefly highlighted the bus bar as described in this patent or similar.
