MK Big Thunder Mountain to receive full retrack

yes, technically it will still “probably” open in spring. But this is just a silly game you are playing.

There is zero chance Disney wanted or planned for this to be closed through spring break. The idea was to have it open in the next couple of weeks. fwiw, I’m not the only one saying this…
Them planning for something internally that they miss slightly is not the same as you expecting and planning around something that was never promised in the way you imagined.

The last day of spring is June 20th, they're definitely opening it in spring.

Ok. Playing silly little semantics games. The 3rd busiest week of the year and they couldn’t get it open in time.

Spring Break week isnt the same for everyone. You have Winter/Spring breaks happening from Mid February through April now. In reality the only extended period of time where some peak period isnt expected to take place are 2nd week of January to 2nd week of February and 3rd week of April to Memorial day. That is a very small window to perform needed MX and not disappoint some group.

In other news... Disney is now about to finish up a major retrack of an attraction in just 16 months.. something most were expecting would take 18-24months.
How would re-tracking a rollercoaster take 3 years? Incredible Hulk's 3,700ft took 11 months. BTMRR is 2,780ft and is much lower to the ground/less intense of a ride

Indeed. And for reference, DL's retrack I believe was actually delayed and went over schedule for its original intended reopening. Still only took 14 months though.
🤷‍♂️

I’m excited to see how this turned out.

Who flipping cares about reopening dates being technically in spring or summer. The ride got some much needed love and that’s all that matters in my opinion.

Sorry for the folks visiting who missed it while it was down.
That’s what I’m saying. I’m sick and tired of whenever an attraction undergoes a major refurbishment for much needed TLC and upgrades and all people care about is “cLoSeD fOr a YeAr?! WhEn’S iT rEoPeNiNg?!” Goes to show too many people don’t give a crap about enhancements to the ride experience, all they want is to get their precious ride back.

Like I get it - Thunder’s been closed for a year and two months so far while Buzz is also closed and the ROA and TSI are gone. But the fact that it’s getting significant upgrades at all after years of neglect and deferral, in my eyes, is more significant.

How long could they keep it closed and still be hunky dory? 2 years? 3? 4? What’s the difference after all. As long as it’s getting the tender love and care it deserves!

This is referring to people planning trips, not Disney’s internal planning.

I don’t think some of you all comprehend the level of work this was. This isn’t a bad job, this is them actually doing what they need to do for once. Do you think they LIKE having one of their precious LL attractions down? Absolutely not. This is taking the time it did because the NECESSARY work they’re doing requires it. I get that people have favorite rides they’re sad to miss but at some point you just gotta be an adult about it and stop getting mad over a hypothetical date that you picked out yourself that Disney never once said.

[EDITED TO CORRECT MYSELF] Even the website posted does not "prove?" any point you're mentioning? They're saying vacation planners were not expecting it, not Disney. Now, if you could stop acting like a child who's upset and throws a tantrum because they can't go on their favorite ride, it would be a nice next step

"Significant upgrades"? If you closed your eyes and rode it, I would wager a large sum of virtual money that it will feel the same as it always has. LED lights in the cavern and AA refreshing aren't "significant upgrades" in my book, but my book does have old definitions in it. Now, if they manage to improve the ride itself somehow? Count me in, by all means.

If you closed your eyes and rode Tiana it would feel the same as riding Splash.

That's not a good baseline for a themed attraction. Yes, BTMR is a coaster, but it's a heavily themed coaster -- it's not Incredible Hulk.

Not at all. BTM is a roller coaster with physical thrills and not a lot outside that engaging your senses. Splash/TBA is a flume ride that is supposed to engage you and tell a story with visuals and sounds more than physical thrills (except the ending, of course).
