And I say yes. All work is on the inside, not the exterior, so if the building is built in less than 12 months then that gives a long lead time of 16-18 months for the rest.

So while I still say 2028 is doable, I don't say that 2029 is out of the realm of possibilities obviously. I still just think they want this open as quick as possible rather than drag it out.

It’s too bad Hong Kong’s Frozen ride was part of an entire land build. Would have liked the comp on that.

I mean Avengers Campus was originally going to be ready in July 2020 before the pandy hit, which would have been about a 1 1/2 year from Bugs land closing in September 2018.

from the other site: trees are gone.

Looks like old perimeter fence for DCA is marked for removal.

Wow as soon as I said Coco is opening in 2029 they went into hyper drive. Let’s see if they can continue at this pace. I’d certainly prefer 2028 to 2029. Especially since Coco being centered around the Day of the Dead would likely be released around that time of year meaning very late 2029.
Lol, oh ye of little faith. Its why I try to take the "lets wait and see" attitude with these things. We know that Disney can accelerate things when they want to.

Coco 2 will probably be the March 2029 release if I were to guess, meaning if they open this up November 2028 to coincide with Day of the Dead they would still be able use it to market for the movie.

See if it’s March 2029 then I’m liking that for the Coco attraction. That seems right - about 3 years to wrap this up. Anyway, I’d still bet on 2029 for now.

Pixar releases are usually March and/or June, WDAS is November. Unless its a year where WDAS doesn't have a release then Pixar can release in November.

Hurts to see even if it should be a net positive in the end. For now I’m getting LA County Fair vibes!

I realize this might sound silly. How could losing some trees that you don’t even see from inside the park for a new boat ride NOT be a net positive? So I’ll elaborate. There could be some other currently unknown ancillary changes with this project. If you were to give me the option of going back to pre Galaxies Edge Disneyland I would. I liked the Hungry Bear on the water. I liked Big Thunder Ranch /BBQ. I liked the old ROA. Most importantly, now that I’ve seen GE,I value the land and future possibilities more than what we received. ROTR is a great ride and all but that’s kind of where it ends and I prefer a blank slate of 14 acres to GE.

So for example if we get the Coco version of Tangled that commands 50 minute waits, they get rid of or heavily alter my favorite place to relax at DCA (Paradise Gardens) and we lost a ton of mature trees than that would be a scenario where for me personally it wasn’t really worth it.

Think of it this way, in its current form the Pier looks more like a seaside amusement park than it did before. It reminds me of looking at Santa Cruz Boardwalk from the street for example, all they need is an arch entry way from DL Dr.

Anyways its temporary. Trees and landscaping will be put back.

Haha yeah it reminds me of looking at any carnival or fair from the street. I’m sure some trees will be put back but my point wasn’t limited to the trees.

I'm aware, I get it, you value the landscaping at DLR more than most and what is lost can't be regain no matter what replaces it, etc.

I'm just saying there is a silver lining to this. Having been to a few seaside parks in my day, it gives me those vibes currently, especially as a kid the anticipation walking in from the street and seeing those views just gave me a tingling feeling of excitement. So don't discount these views as being cheap as a temporary fair or carnival as you're making them is all I'm saying.

The view will be covered back up again in due time, we know this for sure due to the DRSP requirements.

Once the building is finished, I’m sure we will see it planted with hedge of giant Bird of Paradise or tall ficus hedge.

Lol although it does almost seem more authentic this way I don’t really see the silver lining. I value the hundreds of trees more than a more authentic looking pier from the Simba lot.

Anyway, this wasn’t really about the trees. My main point was to explain my rationale on why it might not be a slam dunk net positive. My family and I watch bands at Paradise Gardens often. I love the ambiance there. A slice of Pizza from Boardwalk is my daughters Go To DCA meal. I love walking in there as it’s always empty with the AC blasting. A nice respite from the rest of the park. The smells remind me of Pinocchios/ Monte Carlo Deli in Burbank. I enjoyed the tree lined walk down DL Drive when we would stay at the Westin. Those are just my reasons. So if any or all of these things change for the worse and we get Coco Tangled that averages 50+ minute waits because it’s at DCA then for me it wouldn’t be a net positive.
