This is what the room looks like when the beds are not in use.

100% - I have to imagine it’s the only reason it exists? A place for families to put the kids 😅

No, it's actually the perfect kind of room for a group young adults friends travelling, like a girls weekend away, who don't want to share beds with non-family members, but also want to be in the same room to interact with each other and save cost. In Asia there are a lot of these type of travellers. You don't commonly see it in the US, but in Japan, many hotels have a room type that has 3 or 4 single beds designed for friends travelling together who don't want to share bed. In this case, even having a double bed is wasting space because only one person will sleep on it.

The idea here caters to this specific group in the Asian market, and is not a bad idea of itself. The problem is the execution - Disney could have made the room look nicer and less like college housing by adding more decorations and nicer carpets - there is no reason the wall should be bare, at the very least put a framed Disney poster or Disney wallpaper.

My impression of this ship so far is they spent up all the budget theming the public spaces and concierge rooms (these are actually better themed than the other Disney ships), and then ran out of budget for the standard rooms.

The deluxe inside isn’t so bad… but that 4 bunk inside is nightmare prison fuel.
it's two bunks. :) Four berths.
I understand Andrew. I've been on 15 Disney cruises and I never saw a room like that.
He's right though. This used to be a very very common type of stateroom on cruise ships. Not on any Disney cruise ship and that's why you haven't seen them on your 15 Disney cruises but on other Cruise lines? oh yeah this was the thing.

You know what's funny?
A couple years back, our family of 4 wanted to get on a RCL cruise over the summer on the cheap, so we booked one interior room. I am not going to lie, it was super tight and we would never do that again (kids are only getting bigger too). But for our upcoming RCL cruise, we booked two interior connecting rooms. It was less expensive than a single verandah stateroom. Yes, we lose the balcony, but we get more space and two bathrooms. It was a no brainer for us.

Briefly saw her in person just now. A different version of me would have accidentally booked her maiden voyage.

The indoor space media push is much more pleasing. Their Central Park concept has always just been “fine” and behind the Royal curve so I’m not sure why it’s been such an area of focus.

well.. I hope it works out for them. I see a few bright spots that look interesting to me, but overall the trend on the boat doesn't appeal to me or what my family needs. I know its for a different market.. but in the Disney universe its hard to have those uniquely different products.

I've not been on a boat of this size.. really curious if its dramatically different in terms of people commotion.

This ship was designed for the Asian market. People need to remember that if they book a trip.

I think the best thing people could remember is that the ship was already designed, period. Like literally it was fully being constructed when Disney bought it, and they adapted as best they could into a Disney style ship.

We have no idea if this is the kind of ship Disney themselves would design and build from the ground up for the Asian market (I actually doubt they would design it exactly like this), but they adapted it as much as they could.

I’ve been watching videos from the inaugural cruise and this ship does not belong in the Disney fleet. I know they got a good deal, and it’ll likely never come near America or Europe, but this isn’t even in the same league as the other DCL ships. I don’t know what Disney was thinking.

The only comparison I can think of is Disney buying a Six Flags park, adding some Disney characters and light theming, and then slapping the Disney name on it. They should be embarrassed to have this in the DCL portfolio.

Lol

More than a bit hyperbolic

There are certainly some off area such as with the staterooms and elevators, however most venues on the ship would not seem the least bit out of place if transported to any other ship in the fleet.

Can you expand on this?

I’ve read some first hand reports from experienced DCL cruisers, which differ in opinion!

For example, one said there were no adult only lounges, but the other said there were from 5-11pm.

I know the meet & greets are limited, but that there are other characters that randomly appear for photos / selfies - which is common in the Asian parks.

What are you disappointed by, specifically?

I think my main complaint is it doesn’t feel like a Disney ship, despite having 3 previous classes of ships they all feel very similar, this one doesn’t.

A few examples:

On all the other DCL ships you start your vacation with a huge “wow moment” when you enter into the huge atrium and are welcomed by name, this ship doesn’t have that, it reminded me of our Princess cruise where you just walk into a hallway with a bank of elevators, as DCL regulars we were very underwhelmed by this on Princess and I had the same feeling watching the videos of the Adventure.

On all the other DCL ships the Atrium is the heart of the inside activities and the pool area is the heart of the exterior activities, from the atrium you can look out the portholes while waiting for characters or shows, on the pooldeck you are surrounded by water, this ship doesn’t focus on either of those areas, it’s centered around the interior courtyards. No portholes, no views, just walls.

The rooms are small compared to the other ships, the inside rooms look like prison cells and the veranda rooms (I’ve seen) have all looked over interior courtyards, I’ve watched a half dozen videos now and haven’t seen the ocean once yet from a Veranda, ocean views obviously exist, I just haven’t seen one yet.

The other DCL ships are very well laid out with walkways around the lounges, restaurants, kids areas, etc, the walkways on this ship all seem to be interior, many oddly going through dining rooms and restaurants. The walkways on the other ships bypass this problem by being on the outside edges which makes getting around easy but also means walking by portholes everywhere you go, this is just interior hallways as far as the eye can see.

We cruise to see the water, the sea life, the views, and enjoy the ship… I haven’t seen any of that on the half dozen videos I’ve watched, this ship may as well be a hotel on land because without portholes and ocean views are you even cruising?

My biggest complaint with the Wish class is you don’t see the ocean from a lot of the areas, this ship is 1000 times worse, if I can’t see the ocean I may as well just book a hotel.

If this were a Disney hotel I think I’d be raving about it, as a cruise ship it has none of the ocean liner feel I associate with DCL though.
