DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

It wouldn't surprise me if this was coordinated with Henson studios until after their announcement about MuppetVision 3D coming to AppleVision. MuppetVision 3D's future is now confirmed so Disney can go ahead with the renovation of the former building. (It was going to happen anyway. This announcement about MV3D just lessens the blow.)

I don't tie that together at all. Disney didn't confirm it yet, it was just Brian Henson that made that comment and he probably was aware of that for a while.

For fans who said goodbye to the show at Hollywood Studios, the idea of choosing your own seat in the Muppet Theater - from your own home - is a reasonable consolation."

It just looks like they're ready for the next stage of the theater's new facades, now that the "bricks" have been removed from where the new facades are going. Nothing to do with Apple Vision Muppets

The east side should be (relatively) easy to handle. The west is going to be a major problem unless they do significant work. The Star Wars buildings and the back of the rockwork in particular are going to be difficult to deal with. I feel like they're actually making it harder for themselves with the proposed wide plaza and playground. They could control sightlines way better if they engineered a narrower path.

Monsters, Tropical Americas seems to be in general alignment.

The theatre set installation does not align with a (presumed) 2028 coaster opening. I assume they’ll have the full front of the land ready to go. Whether that is this Fall or next Spring.

Tropical Americas seems to be a ~Q4 2027 project. For that reason they need some stuff to market between this summer’s offerings and then. COP seems to be the only other thing - so far.

Maybe they will get to a point where they let the theater mothball until the whole land opens, but the land quickly went from Grand Avenue to a waste land (demo of Stage 1) with contious construction in the courtyard, theater facade and beyond. Now there are clear signs of interior work. If the whispers are true, the space will not just be a new theater show but a multi-purpose space (show + M&G).

I feel comfortable with my original infamous stance.

The parking lot side should be pretty easy to block, and the concept art even shows it being, presumingly, just a wall with trees and a playground (I think?). So seems like they got that figured out.

One of the older concept arts shows fake building facades to the right of the coaster building that would hide the Rise building.

But then all the newer concept art clearly shows the Rise building there with a just a bunch of trees (that, quite frankly, doesn't seem like there's enough room for)

I think we all just need to start prepping ourselves to be a bit disapointed and expect to see the Rise building. The 'Rocks on Sticks' on the roofs hopefully will just look like mountains in the distance in Monstropolis haha.

None of those accurately reflect the situation at the moment, so it's difficult to know exactly what's going to happen. The coaster is set back much farther than originally planned, so none of the art takes that into account. Even the most recent art on the construction wall (not pictured in your post) is inaccurate.

And I guess they really are going to just reroute that access road behind the show building vs. have the pathway bridge over the road on the way to the show building?

The road is probably staying at least as an equivalent to an easement which would explain the building being so far back.

There’s never been any indication of a bridge.

They will absolutely need to add skyscape or trees in front of the Rise building and theming behind Harryhausen's/surrounding the playground.

Could they not put some flat facades directly on the rise building and then fill some trees in-between? Then you get the natural boundary with far away city just visible through the trees? I assume that type of facade could be quite easy to install. Although, it's hard for me to grasp the distances here.

I think the most problematic thing is actually the shorter Star Wars building right next to MuppetVision’s theater. It has a ton of exposed mechanical and unfinished rockwork when viewed from the entrance of the new coaster.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice that before. Are they tall enough that trees would reasonably block them from view?

I doubt trees alone would obscure it unless they built some tall terraced landscaping like that which surrounds Batuu elsewhere. That said, there are obviously ways to handle it; the issue is primarily that they haven’t indicated in any of the currently released artwork how they intend to do so, if they do. That’s why people are understandably concerned.

Yep. Literally my biggest concern - and I fear they’ll use the “studios” excuse.
