News Disney's BoardWalk Inn to Undergo Refurbishment Through 2026

I guess they didn't get your brief Mr. "Lawyer" since they have a new jazz lounge replacing Jelly Rolls for late night entertainment.

No where did i say its surprising that they have some offerings at Boardwalk. In fact, i said it made sense to offer them....for the market that they are targeting.

Are they adding parking for the area for non-boardwalk area resort guests?
Are they offering bussing from TTC or the parks, or from other resorts to the boardwalk?
Are they expanding Jelly Rolls lounge so it could handle crowds of a significant number?
Are they broadly advertising the new jazz lounge as a coming entertainment feature?
Are they advertising the Boardwalk in general as a late night entertainment location?
Are they creating transportation systems AWAY from the boardwalk such that non area resort guests have easy access back to their hotels?

As we know, the answer to all those questions, is similar to does Monothingie ever have anything of substance to post other than just trolling and negativity...No.

Maybe? Jelly Rolls really did pack them in there.

Probably will.

Probably will. With the addition of a replacement for Three River Grill there will be more to attract guests. If it's added to the ADR system it will definitely bring in more foot traffic at night.

Unchanged since opening. But have you ever seen the large number of people waiting for an Uber at the Boardwalk at night?

If you're not staying at a Crescent Lake hotel and you're at the boardwalk past 10:00 p.m., how are you getting home?

Bus to Disney Springs is an option until 11:00 - and then there is always Uber.

I often stay at Port Orleans to hear Yeehaw Bob until after a 11 and just call an Uber.

Boardwalk is definitely in a weird spot but it is somewhat settled at this point.

It's become an core amenity for the Crescent Lake Resorts.

Transportation to/fro is pretty restrictive from the area. They aren't going to add experiences like a 24 hour diner at this location if it's going to cause a massive draw.

The guests don't want the noise or the crowds. And Disney has always punted to have additional transportation factored in. If it was a priority, they would keep the skyliner stations open later - instead they close an hour or so after DHS closes each night.

To me it strikes the right balance. I'd like to see BW add a QS where you can also get Mickey Waffles for breakfast. A stand or two featuring Boardwalk food like fries (opened late) or even something like Crab Fries (paging Chickie and Pete's) or Fudge/maybe Salt Water Taffy would be pretty nice too.

Going to get interesting around 2042 what they do with all that space.

Boardwalk was a favorite of evil Michael. He championed it and used it for his meetings a lot.

Which makes sense considering he understood the need for adult spots with such a large customer base.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have adult things? Especially since “adults” now reject families and children and hover around parks dressing and acting like children?

But they have made some enhancements…vision it takes to install a really d-bag bakery on the boardwalk…next to…the bakery? Yeah…

Oh I see! I definitely think the taffy idea is a no brainer just for the visual!

I also wish they’d get another premium ice cream back. Seems like a second location for salt and straw would be easy but not sure how that works with the licensing and all.

Best thing Iger did was bring in Ample Hills and Salt and Straw to Disney property!

Who said anything about everyone needed to be in bed right after park closes (although I think the majority of guests that isn’t too far off.) My point as for as the boardwalk area is that this location, built literally right under the bedroom windows of a large deluxe resort is not a viable location for a large late night entertainment location.

Who said anything about bringing guests in from anywhere other than the resorts already in that area? Guests from Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve, Boardwalk Inn, Boardwalk Villas, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Beach Club Villas are all within walking distance. That's potentially a lot of guests and in a busy week, many of them will be non-child accompanied convention-goers who don't want to be tucked into bed as soon as the fireworks finish.
Also, have you ever heard of triple glazing? It's a very cost effective way of avoiding noise annoyance. (I know this because my parents' assisted living accommodation used it to both reduce traffic noise and noise from a nearby children's play area).

They're not going to be especially drawn to BoardWalk en masse when they have their own in-house amenities.

Sure, they'll check out the BoardWalk amenities, just like they'd check out dining at The Polynesian or AKL.

BoardWalk's boardwalk, for as many times I pass through it on each visit, has a nice, comfortable number of guests wandering around, walking through, or partaking of their amenities. I've never seen it mobbed moreso than the indoor amenities of other deluxe resorts. It's a nice balance.

I highly doubt Disney will upset that balance by going back to a wide advertisement of the BoardWalk boardwalk as a "destination you must see."

Spoken like a man who (maybe) a) thinks it's a good idea at his age to have a lie-down after dinner; b) thinks going to the gym is a good way to spend their vacation evenings; c) hasn't understood that a promenade in the cooler hours of a hot summer evening is good for both the soul and the digestion; d) thinks 11pm is late to be out and about because urinary urgency will wake them in the early hours; or e) has to wake up in time to catch the very earliest morning news.

In response to parking, I can remember when Boardwalk was in its younger years, there were brochures at Caribbean Beach (we stayed yearly) that were something along the lines of Shopping & Dining Along the Shore. We would drive over and Guest parking was in that lot to the right behind the old Hess. Which I believe is CM parking. You had to cross the street, and you entered the property by the convention hall.

Another piece of this puzzle is WDW now wants to be “closed” at 11:00 or 11:30.

Normal Park hours are usually 9-10 pm (compared to 11-12 at Disneyland) and Disney Springs now closes at 11:00 except for Friday and Saturday with an 11:30 closing.

Back in the day - parts of Downtown Disney were regularly open till midnight with pleasure island closing at 1 or 2. So you could take a but back from Downtown Disney at like 2-3 AM.

Which means hanging out at boardwalk or Port Orleans to midnight meant you could still take Disney transport back.

Of course that was before the days of Uber and Lyft too.
