It has been a bit muddled since 2006’s addition of Jack Sparrow, but MK’s facade and queue line make the story more complete. Not that DL’s version has no story, but it is a bit more well rounded out in Florida. Some others on the forum may be able to elaborate better than I can. Essentially, the first half of the DL version is borne of necessity. The going back in time justification is a bit forced. The MK version tells the story without what Marc Davis considered the filler at DL. First, the setting in Caribbean Plaza is more immersive. Second, you see the pirates out in the distance getting ready to attack. Third, you escape the fort in a boat, but land in the middle of a pitch battle. And eventually you escape. I highly recommend reading this old article from Passport 2 Dreams which explains better than I can:This was unexpected to me. How does mk's version tell the story better? It's not really a challenge, though certainly it's not my opinion, I am very curious as to why it's yours and apparently some others as well.
