MK Villains Land Announced for Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Could we expect an "actually scary" adult cocktail lounge lurking in this "not actually scary" scary land? Asking for a naughty friend...

I wasn’t even expecting something for adults. I just thought it could handle being for people above 4 years old.

This is a massive disappointment.
If you are only imagining kiddie rides/attractions instead of family rides/attractions than sure, I could see that being disappointing, but I don't know why you are restricting yourself to that interpretation.

I mean sure, that could be what they end up doing but that does not fit the info we have so far.

I have a hard time getting too worked up over these rumours. Now once we know more, I’m happy to really get into it.

For now, I hope Disney knows that they need to knock this out of the park, and it can’t just be a gorgeous land, it needs to deliver on the experiences inside of it.

This can’t be another Galaxy’s Edge. Style and little substance.

Speaking of the site plans, do we have any idea if the most northern rectangular building on the train tracks is a new station (seems most likely) vs perhaps a show scene for the train? Any rumors?

No knowledge. Just an idea. They could integrate the train station into an elaborate cave structure and have show scenes above the cave/station.

Sometimes I forget that the forums/distwitter are often a bit of a bubble. I just saw a tiktok of a guy talking about the ENG coaster and how excited he was for it, and all the comments I scrolled through were from people saying how excited they were. I’ll be interested to see how the general public feels about this villains land as opposed to the more hardcore Disney/theme park fans.

The site that shall not be named has essentially called this BS. Honestly, he does make a good point at how ridiculous a Madame Medusa restaurant would be versus a big hitter.
Yeah, the Madame Medusa restaurant and some other things The Wrap reported don’t make any sense. My guess is, when The Wrap’s reporting turns out to be incorrect, his source will say Disney changed directions again.

There are some very solid sources behind TheWraps story - it wasn't plucked out of the air.

I'm sure the Madam Medusa crashed paddle steamer restaurant was pitched a decade plus ago as blue sky way to stop the costly part of maintenance of the Liberty Belle and break it apart and use it as a shell for a restaurant on TSI, to allow that area of MK for to turn a profit.

But will see, theme wise why they are ignoring Nightmare before Christmas is beyond me, thats such a big merch cash cow. If going to dust off anything would love to see the Bald Mountain concept that was pitched for 20,000 leagues, it would just look so good to have a new mountain range at the park, since they keep taking away. Imagine that at night!!!
Nightmare Before Christmas isn't Villains though, it's halloween. I'd prefer them to keep it to villains instead of something that's just generically spooky

People who think The Rescuers is a far fetched proposal for the area need to rewatch The Rescuers and think about what specific part of Magic Kingdom did Villains replace...

Disney opened a ride based on 1944's The Three Caballeros in 2007

They can pull a deep cut reference if they want to

"Villains" being the IP means they can draw from a wide variety of sources

A standalone Kronk coaster would probably not happen, but part of a larger land with higher profile characters? Yes

Don't forget that the article itself says that there is an upcoming meeting to discuss alternative options and that the four themes at the moment aren't set in stone (ENG, Maleficent, Ursula and Hades). If they announce the official plans and they are different, it doesn't mean that the themes rumored now are not true at the moment. From Len on the Cars thread:
I'll take an opportunity to point out the implicit thing in your question - because it's come up in emails and such - is that the IP and plans we're talking about for this Villains re-do are some of what's being discussed.

I think Drew's article noted there's an upcoming meeting to review alternatives. I'm sure I don't know all of them. The stuff we've talked about is one previous set of choices and one current set of choices, at this specific point in time.
