MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

Oh boy the Bug's Lifer is telling us about another mysterious Disney pivot!

What will it be this time fella? Is Disney making a new Jurassic Park land in the middle of Frontierland? Or are they rebuilding the Rivers? Maybe this time we're getting a megaplex Hoop-De-Doo-Revue!
Please do not bring hoop de Dee revue into this. You know not of what you speak of. You are just playing your shot in the dark and i fear you have no immunity.
Plans approved tomorrow, construction starts Friday, land opens next Tuesday.
Boom
Don think so. Think delays push them to pivot to another idea.

Wait….what????? Is this some early April Fools? We were going to have a menacing and dark and brooding Villains Land complete with Malificent Coaster and now we are getting a rethemed Slinky Dog themed to Emperor? I mean I loooooove Emp New Groove but this land does not sound at all what was promised. Fans were promised dark and twisted and now it sounds like cartoon silly. And why would Maleficent be featured in a water ride? What?????

Legit question here, do we think there will be water/rivers/streams etc in the villains section, and if so would they be connected to the water features in Piston Peak. If so, does that mean Villains needs to be more complete to start pumping in the water for Piston?

Good question. I hope there is water features in Villains just because water adds another level to the visuals. If so they may be connected system wise but they can always dam up areas to allow some areas to be open early like they do with the castle moat.

I feel like if Villains and Cars are going to have connecting waterways, the Villains plans need to be fully finalized ASAP. They're pretty close to finishing the Cars river, no? Sure the connection points could be added retroactively, but that feels a bit like backwards planning.

@lazyboy97o you always have good insight into these types of questions. Any thoughts on potential connected waterways between Piston and villains and how you fill up one if the other is incomplete (I know, since we don’t know anything fully definitive about villains that this is all hypothetical, just curious)

No. Jungle Cruise is still operating despite part of the same water system being dry for the repainting of Cinderella Castle.

Could be cool if there is a waterfall or something that connects it from Piston Peak to Villains. I think if the water is connected, there would need to be something interesting that creates a clear distinction for which is which.

Of course, and I have no idea what the plans which is exciting. We'll just have to see what happens.

You should reconsider. It’s the closest work Disney has ever made to Looney Tunes in the best way. There is a reason so many quote it to this day and Kronk and Yizma are so beloved.

“Pull the lever Kronk! Wrong lever! Why do we even have that lever?”
“It just doesn’t make sense”
“I never liked your Spinach puffs”
“Hey, I’ve been turned into a cow, can I go home? You’re excused”
I think it's one of the worst Disney films with over the top voice acting and not even close to their output from beforehand. May as well make a family guy or simpsons coaster if you want a comedic ride.

Was hoping Villains land would be dark. Does Looney Tunes fit a villian's land vibe?

It shows how uninspired Disney is that each attempt is just ripping off a different Epic Universe land.

The over the top voice acting is the point. Is it a masterpiece, no, is it as artistic as the Lion King, heck no, is it my favorite animated movie in the down period between Tarzan-PatF, yes. Better then lilo and stitch and anything else that came out then.

I see your point, and I know it does have some fans It just to me doesn't really fit Villian's land at least based on the initial concept art. Unless Villians land really isn't taking itself seriously.

Seems like anytime Disney is about to do a cool project they chicken out and go family friendly.

I remember at the time it came out reviews were mildly positive, but someone made the observation that it was like watching the Royal Shakespeare Company perform an improv show. Yeah, they can do it, but is it what they’re best at, and is it what you want from them?

I have voiced that as one of my biggest concerns about this land, and it's why I have extremely tempered excitement about it.
Modern day Disney is afraid to scare the kids.
It's pathetic.
The whole point of many of their films, especially those featuring their legendary villains is growth.
Facing fears, and triumphing over them.

It's really a shame, this was an opportunity to do something different aimed more at the teen audience. Loved how Eisner would do scarier projects like Tower of Terror and Alien Encounter.
