Disney Fan Conspiracy: Iger got out of TWDC so he wouldn't have to deal with COVID.

Also Disney Fan Conspiracy: Iger stayed on dealing with COVID to arrange a come back.
How about this?

Insert oaf to act as the fall guy and keep your sterling reputation intact during a period of massive global uncertainty.

Once things calm down, kneecap the oaf and reluctantly reclaim your position to the cheers of the droolers and mouth breathers.

Resume mismanaging company and keeping the stock price flat compared to the broader market averages.

Now that you mention it, Iger never actually fixed any of the problems Eisner created, did he?
I mean other than save the company from getting bought out and stripped for parts, making Hong Kong Disneyland an actually worthwhile park to visit, turning DCA into a place people may actually wanna go to, and repairing strained relationships with other creative entities, yeah I guess not.

I'm glad the man's death was sad because you think he would agree with your opinion on where the Walt Disney company was heading.
…kid…sit this one out

The guy was 79 years old and died from the complications of stomach cancer after a lifetime chain smoking…like his uncle

It wasn’t about a Physical tragedy…it was his influence and steadying hand from the legacy side of the Disney brand that was lost.

Your sarcasm isn’t particularly clever

Nah…that’s like some theory of what the most likely reason is…is the truth.

That’s crazy talk

Did I miss a corporate takeover attempt?

I don’t recall one?

Maybe Bob wanting to sell off the parks in his first few years? Other than that… I don’t recall one either. But we probably should leave the corporate history lessons to those who were toddlers when it happened.

But I will not use age and inexperience in this discussion. 😂😎

It's nice to see you admire Iger's super genius intellect to arrange such things.

Now, since Chapek was fired for being jolly about overspending billions of dollars on Disney+ in the Great Streaming War, how exactly did Iger, once fully out, convince Chapek to be so cavalier with such a burdensome deficit?

Contrary to what you’ve heard…drinking large amounts of koolaid mixed with vodka will kill just as many brain cells.

Yes because Chapek had that amount of complete unfettered control in the 11 months he was Iger free...my lovable but naive penguin.

I mean, on the other hand, are we to believe that Iger had no idea what his number 2 thought about the direction of the company? Maybe I fall somewhere in the middle. I absolutely think Iger got out because he thought things would fall off for Disney with Covid. And I believe he picked someone to take over that he thought he could control somewhat, and wouldn't be considered as good as him (thus making people look back on him fondly). I don't think he expected Chapek to think he knew everything immediately, and I don't think he expected him to try to implement everything he talked crazy about (and thus fail as spectacularly as he did).

…yeah…that’s pretty much the way it happened

But what is glossed is all those cuts and fees were hatched under emperor Igertine. It takes YEARS for them to make any changes…somehow Slaphead did all sorts of things in a year?

It takes them a year to repaint a park bench

Maybe, but I would want those IP's to be in an appropriate setting rather than randomly scattered in thematically clashing places in the various parks.
Topical Americas is a decent bridge.

Pandora, or Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland are excellent examples that are superior than non-IPs would’ve been. Cars Land crosses a bridge that works too.
