Universal Announces Texas Resort

More info about all the offerings at the park and new concept art available. For anybody doubting if the park would have many rides from the first lot of concept art, there will be 12 opening day rides, all aimed at Kids (hence the resort name). Still, it will have 2 rollercoasters, a river rapids attraction and a tracked ride themed to Shrek, plus some flat rides

How many bars and lounges?

Theming here seems to mostly consist of colorful paint and decals. Only the Puss in Boots eatery seems to have anything even approaching a Six Flags level of effort.

Hear from the creative team behind our first theme park made just for kids as they introduce details to Texas families and other excited guests. Discover an overview of the park, the on-site hotel and the first land kids and their grown-ups will discover as they explore Universal Kids Resort. This video kicks off a new series that will reveal all the big adventures awaiting our littlest fans and their families at a theme park for all kidkind.

I mean, Frisco gets hot.. and kids love water.. but I am kinda suprised by the number of water based attractions. It's one thing when you kinda close one area/land in cold season.. but here its much more spread around the park. I am really interested to see how their full year calendar will end up operating.

It was in the 70s around Christmas. February can potentially be shorts weather, or "try not to freeze to death" weather. 🤷‍♂️

I'm in the area frequently, especially in the spring, so I know the area. It's totally fine for shorts and t-shirt.. but that is not the same as 'water attraction' level of water or splash pads, etc. The avg high being at 80F or above really is only May-Oct. That's a big chunk of the year being 'pleasant, but not jump in the pool' weather.

Yes
Thats "averages" for you. Only saving grace is relative humidity which can drop down to 5-8% during the heat of summer. 2011 was brutal with 71 days with a high over 100. July and August were the most cruel that year with 40 days in a row July 2 – August 10. 2021 went down to 2 below zero. The 1995 Mayfest hailstorm in Fort Worth had baseball sized hail injured over 400 people and caused over 2 billion dollars in damage.

average temperature by month, Frisco

I can tell you from personal experience growing hay and raising cattle, its not for the meek.

Dino Rama tried harder than this. Mickey's Birthdayland/Starland/Duckburg tried harder than this. This is the, buy the cheapest clothes you can find because they'll outgrow it quick anyway, of theme parks.

Meanwhile, at another "kid's" park:

Hopefully it gets better?

Does Universal think the problem with opening day HKDL, WDSP, DCA is that Disney spent too much money?
This is a kiddie park for 7 and unders essentially. People expected more? Like e-ticket dark ride investment or something? Now if the ticket prices don’t align, I’ll have something to say.

It looks like Six Flag without the coasters that are the primary attendance drivers for those parks

It's not just that it's a "small kiddie park". It's that it looks terribly cheap for something with the Universal name on it

That is very much my impression.

This is obviously not a park for me, but what you would hope if Universal (or Disney) were to attempt something like this is that they would elevate it above a standard "small kiddie park" based on their experience and resources from running the larger resorts. The problem here is that the park does not look at all elevated. It just seems to rely on the Universal name and IPs to distinguish it.
