I still don't understand the logic behind replacing the original color scheme to begin with though at least it was less objectionable than the cake.I hope those that chose "rose gold" are paying attention and retain the memory for a very long time teaching it to budding imagineers at every turn.
As someone who loved the castle cake, it was fun, whimsical, and temporary. Unlike the awful pink/salmon, which likely would have continued if not for the (hopeful) public backlash that forced this repaint. Truly a baffling Chapek decision.I still don't understand the logic behind replacing the original color scheme to begin with though at least it was less objectionable than the cake.
In fairness the cake was actually temporary unlike certain other structures added to or in some cases blocking park icons that were ostensibly built for temporary promotional celebrations. Of course, I do wonder how confusing it must be for people who went to WDW in either 2005, 2006 or 2021 because if you remember our castle was decorated for Disneyland's 50th as well. I know the angle was it was the 50th Anniversary of Disney theme parks in general but the promotional materials did a poor job of explaining that so I am sure there were probably people in 2021 who had been there back in the 05-06 period and must have thought wasn't the 50th Anniversary 14 or 15 years ago? Again the logic of the 2020 re-painting still escapes me. If it was indeed for the MK's 50th Anniversary, why did they wait five years to change it back?As someone who loved the castle cake, it was fun, whimsical, and temporary. Stunning.
They did it for the 50th. Yes it ultimately didn’t look that great and many didn’t care for it, but that’s is why it was done. Very glad it’s going back to original colors.I still don't understand the logic behind replacing the original color scheme to begin with though at least it was less objectionable than the cake.
According to the former CEO, it was to tie into Sleeping Beauty's 70th anniversary, not the Magic Kingdom's 50th. IIRC.They did it for the 50th. Yes it ultimately didn’t look that great and many didn’t care for it, but that’s is why it was done. Very glad it’s going back to original colors.
Perhaps a bit of both?According to the former CEO, it was to tie into Sleeping Beauty's 70th anniversary, not the Magic Kingdom's 50th. IIRC.
Not really. Unless you can figure out how repainting the castle to a color it has never been painted for its 50th anniversary makes an iota of sense.Perhaps a bit of both?
Because they were doing everything rose gold around that time? Not really. Unless you can figure out how repainting the castle to a color it has never been painted for its 50th anniversary makes an iota of sense.
Actually this is from WDWMagic post from when they announced:Not really. Unless you can figure out how repainting the castle to a color it has never been painted for its 50th anniversary makes an iota of sense.
Because they were doing everything rose gold around that time?![]()
Actually this is from WDWMagic post from when they announced:
This change follows several overlays and design updates throughout the years, including the 50th anniversary celebration's rose-gold and deep blue tones.
So… painted for the 70th. Painted rose gold for the 50th."Back in February 2020, Disney announced that the iconic structure would undergo a royal makeover in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Cinderella film."
"Back then, Walt Disney World stated that Cinderella Castle would receive a “bold, shimmering and royal makeover” for the 70th Anniversary of Cinderella, and that the project would last through the summer."
The rose-gold was the color scheme for the 50th. It was NOT the reason the castle was repainted.
So… painted for the 70th. Painted rose gold for the 50th.![]()
But that’s what you wrote. Are you arguing against yourself now?![]()
