MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

While it would be nice to have the exterior-facing rockwork and new water features done earlier, I just don't see a world where it is completed meaningfully earlier than the rest of the land, especially considering the likely scale and complexity of Piston Peak itself, which forms part of the exterior wall.
Yeah I figured that would be the case. Was just thinking out loud mostly but you’re probably right

Please don’t quote me while trying to elude to some made up nonsense.
Not an illusion.
I hear Piston Peak is being replace with It's Tough to be a Bug.
No word on that yet.
I believe the paint chip muncher has already confirmed that when ITtBaB closes at AK within the next year or 2, it’ll be moved to Cali to be the headlining attraction for DL’s 3rd gate. So doubtful it’ll end up in Frontierland :(
What?? That makes no sense.

Would think both of these are wrong and we could see piston pivot plus people could interpret it in multiple ways. Let’s not jump to conclusions. It’s mainly villainous
Oh boy the Bug's Lifer is telling us about another mysterious Disney pivot!

What will it be this time fella? Is Disney making a new Jurassic Park land in the middle of Frontierland? Or are they rebuilding the Rivers? Maybe this time we're getting a megaplex Hoop-De-Doo-Revue!

And it will run in the rain....
No no, you underestimate. This will be the Waffle House of Disney. The theater can be picked up by a world ending hurricane, sailing across the continents on a maiden voyage as the first building to cross the entire world TWICE while airborne before diving into the icy embrace of the upper atmosphere and the Termite-ator will still be melting childrens faces off while a stinkbugs releases noxious gas. THAT is how resilent the NEW Bug's Life theater will be.

Nobody was trying to make a lesser version of Pirates of the Caribbean. The Magic Kingdom version was created with the intent of it being a tighter and more cohesive narrative, how they’d do it without the design constraints of a site selected for a walkthrough.

Thunder Mesa always included a rain away mine train ride. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad wasn’t a pitch to build one portion of the bigger complex that had been originally planned.

There is no “they”. The people who chose the attractions for the Magic Kingdom were not at the Aspen retreat.
Hey, that's fair. I didn't mean to imply Marc was trying to kibosh Pirates. I was merely saying he cut out the slower-paced atmospheric sections. I think we both agree and my phrasing was poor.

Point taken re: BTMRR. I really don't want to imply that Tony Baxter did anything malicious. I know a mine train was included originally, and I recalled reading that there were multiple pitches for the ride, some that allowed for WRE and some that didn't... and that again, for various reasons, what we have now is how it worked out.

But why if the ride was originally designed to fit the space of a walkthrough ( which we all know is true) did the MK version end up being the smaller cliff notes version? Given they had no constraints of space.... That is the mystery....and it seems like every other version of that ride is better and bigger and longer... At the time they built Pirates, there were no other attractions between Jungle Cruise and the Frontierland train station.... There was plenty of space to work with... So it seems like they in fact did want to make a lesser smaller version.... The narrative is no more cohesive... and the lack of going up the waterfall at the end leaves it without a true end....the only thing that is better at the MK is the queue....
