How anyone who puts forth that the current iteration of SSE is “optimistic” is beyond my ability for rational thought. Roughly the same point in the ride, which one sounds optimistic and which one sounds insipid, to be blunt?
Irons version:
"But will these seemingly infinite communications become a flood of electronic babble? Or will we use this power to usher in a new age of understanding and co-operation on this, our Spaceship Earth."
"Since the dawn of recorded time, communication has revolutionized our lives and changed our world. We now have the ability and the responsibility to build new bridges of acceptance and co-operation between us; to create a better world for ourselves and our children as we continue our amazing journey aboard Spaceship Earth."
Current version:
"For the first time in history, all of us can have a say about the kind of world we want to live in. The choices we have made for the past 30,000 years have been inventing the future one day at a time. And now, it’s your turn."
"So here’s to the next 30,000 years on Spaceship Earth. While no one knows for sure what we’ll see or do, I do know it will be quite an adventure—an adventure that we’ll take and make together. See you in the future!"
The latest version is the worst script of the four versions. Insulting, simplistic, and quite frankly, geared more towards the LCD than even those on the middle end of the scale.
