I think it was about 10 years ago where the shops in WDW were inundated with rose gold merch, especially the Minnie ears. And then a year later, it was all gone.
And, I find it quite hilarious that, for WDW's 50th, it's like they thought "Hey-let's repaint the castle for the 50th in a colour that it's never been in it's 50 years of existence! And then we'll leave it on there for over 5 years!""
Maybe I'm misrembering but isn't that a whiter shade of pale than it was before? I like it, more like the refrence work but it looks different somehow

Pretty close match I thinkView attachment 908361
It definitely looks whiter. As seen above, the previous look had a paint job that made it like it was actually made of light stone, but the new paint job in its current state just looks like it's painted.
I won't jump to conclusions just yet, since the flat grey first coat wasn't the finished look either and maybe there's yet more to the painting process, or they're planning for it to naturally fade, so I'll keep the pitchfork in the toolshed for now.
Either way, it still looks much better than the pink.
(also... "Whiter Shade of Pale" is a great song.)
Why does matching Neuschwanstein matter?
The above photo is from the light beige era. Prior to that, I believe early-mid 2000s, it was all whites and grays.View attachment 908361

Just noted not quotedWhy does matching Neuschwanstein matter?
Wait–was that really a thing?Do you think the 1970s Imagineers were correct that this coloring will help guests feel cooler than warm colors would? I may pack a few sweaters next summer just in case I catch a chill from the gray paint.

I know a guy soon to be looking for work that would make a great sweater consultant for you.......Do you think the 1970s Imagineers were correct that this coloring will help guests feel cooler than warm colors would? gahhh she's so classy
The initial art suggested they'd be keeping a few more of the gold sections than they traditionally have, but that may or may not be accurate. The progress thus far does seem to indicate the railing interiors are likely to be left alone.Anyone know if they’re keeping the gold accents?
In the past the railings and decorative details were the same color but they seem to be skipping all of them with the current repaint. Seems they’d have painted them at the same time if they were matching the old style.
I’m still torn on what look I prefer, just curious if it’s going to stay this way.
