How are they going to go back to the drawing board for villians land if the permits are filed and already show where al the buildings are going? Are they going to scrap those permits and file new ones? Or is Disney offering up more land backstage to increase the size?
Not sure. but they don't nessicarly need to change the permits do make the land more grand, could just be adding more AA's and stuff like restaurants or shows, as the permits seem to be only for buildings that had water lines going underneath them. I said it on the other forum I'll say it again this reminds me of the 2010 fantasy spring concept art change which was a good change. Reading that Josh told the imaginers to not worry about budget reminds me of TokyoDisneySea which excites me. And if its true about doing 24hr construction then that would be a massive win

The publicly available permits are not the only permits required. Animatronics, restaurants and shows would all require permits. The currently under construction retaining wall is not on either of the water management permits or the sanitary sewer permit, but is on general building permits not released to the public.

Let’s just say I’ve never seen so many people up and resign since the Lake Nona fiasco. I’ll say this as I’ve said in other threads, Josh is not Eisner. He won’t be as bad as Chapek but this is what makes blood boil. Hours spent toiling, hours spent traveling, lost birthdays, anniversaries, divorces, Imagineering is not always the fun it looks like outside on the documentaries and specials. It’s a cut throat job with so much bureaucracy and corporate navigation that goes on for Niles and Niles, pun intended.

There’s also talks about how tropical Americas needs at least one more attraction. These are the things that drive people upset in the office because we go through so many story boards, research, and development meetings. Sure Iger was the final say technically, but when your told you need to change things, further cut the budget it’s not fun. Post COVID has been difficult to stay within budget between cost of materials and naturally unionized construction. Not that Universal does it better but our vendors and contractors are a hassle to deal with just because of the name of our company and its “prestige”. The final product will be great, but my Lord was it not fun to read about this online before walking into the office.

No

Thought it'd be worth discussing if true^

Funny how news spreads around the internet. The quote from Len in that article is literally what he (originally) posted on these boards...

I’m hearing the initial plans for Villains Land have been scrapped. Imagineers have been told to think of bigger, bolder ideas. Budget secondary.

Not sure if this is “new players, new game” re: Josh as CEO.

I take it you have some kind of link to imagineering so I believe you but what you’re saying is really disappointing.

Sounds like a ton of people quit and the project is a mess. I was most excited about Villains out of any project but the feeling I’m getting is Universal knows how to get things done and do it right and Disney is too … bloated and over confident in their brand.

I’m honestly kind of depressed now.

Wait, what? I’m so confused. Do you work at Disney? People are quitting over the rumored re-imagining of Villains?

We’re getting into pre-D23 when random posters start misleading everyone about their knowledge or company standings. Here’s a few yellow flags.

Today is a holiday. Len made his post on Saturday. Len did not say this decision occurred the day before.

One did not walk into the “WDI” office, as implied, today on a Holiday to see people quit because of something that happened weeks or months ago. They walked into their CM break room, or operational middle management and chatted about what they read online.

That makes sense. Couldn’t figure out why employees would be flipping out over going back into the development phase of a project again - I never got the impression that was some kind of dystopian horror that Imagineers can only bear to do once.

Most non-government businesses have normal operating hours today and don’t get off for president’s day.

Speaking hypothetically, if you worked on something for two years, only for that something to be thrown away, would you not be upset?

Imagine going through 2 years of college only to be told to restart, despite all those late nights spent cramming to meet deadlines

I guess my thought is - you have to show up at your job and do work if you want to get paid. So the Imagineers are gonna be there working either way. Going through college again is different, as you were only supposed to have to do those years once, then you end up having to do them again. Also college costs an insane amount of money in the US.

I guess if we assume they were super attached to their plans, this might make sense. But that doesn’t seem right either - they were just told someone is writing them a bigger check to make newer, bigger plans. Again, it’s not like these are authors who were like “Woo hoo, finally done with this book, time to publish and relax!” They have to metaphorically clock in and do something every day either way. Revisiting your plans with a bigger check honestly sounds like a ton of fun.
