MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

Slightly concerning that the entrance area to BTMM appears to be gone in those pics now. Theres litterally no walkway from the main path up to the entrance now. Seems an odd choice for a ride due to reopen soon unless they've decided to move the entrance over to the top left corner somewhere.

That is interesting, given those hoping the “Spring” timeline would fall on the front side of the season - like me. One pic looks like it’s gone and one pic looks like it’s still there but walled off and a different color 🤷‍♂️

I was concerned too but it wouldn't be that difficult to level and repave a lot of that open space in front of the existing entrance. Hoping it is sooner rather than later though

I posted this drawing back in Sept. so apologies, but rather than the riverbed itself, I wonder if this is a pad footing for a retaining wall between the lowered river and normal elevation?

Vertical rebar for the retaining wall now going in. The wood strips down the roughly center of the winding forms establishes the edge of the raised central "ground" area of Piston Peak. Once that's backfilled with dirt they can put in drainage/utilities, and then start construction on the buildings/attraction proper. The area between these wood strips and the shoreline is the "river zone."

I’m hearing the initial plans for Villains Land have been scrapped. Imagineers have been told to think of bigger, bolder ideas. Budget secondary.

Not sure if this is “new players, new game” re: Josh as CEO.
Interesting... think I'm wondering if they are planning on using that extra land up that they've been clearing now after realizing there is either more space than they thought they could use or plans changed on when they wanted to use that extra space.

Good, something like this is needed for this property. Universal built an amazing half of a dark land, and cheapend out on the other half. In order to beat them Disney needs to bring their A game.

I’ve been wondering about this. The more you see each passing week from Bioreconstruct’s wonderful photos, they just keep clearing more and more areas. I mean it could also be for improvements to backstage areas and more lay down yards, but it is incredible when you see the full photo of the park just how large the cleared land is.

I think the "exposed" coaster has to be reevaluated. Does that approach represent Disney at its best?

I also think many of us have been expecting a very ambitious dark ride -- perhaps Shanghai Pirates scale. And the show buildings we're seeing (assuming much of that square footage is also eaten up by shops and restaurants comprising a village) leaves doubt about room for a suitably ambitious dark ride.

EDIT: And by "think bigger, bolder" I really hope they figure out a connection from Fantasyland. I don't think this land fulfills its full potential as part of the park's overall fluidity without that.

Hot take: they should have a path that leads to Fantasyland and along that path is an amphitheater where they can move Fantasmic to, then make a new show at Hollywood.
