The *official* reason is because it was for the 70th anniversary of Cinderella, that’s what they told CMs when they gave out photo sized posters of the concept art of the repaint back in early 2020, I was working there at the time. It really doesn’t make sense as that castle in the film isn’t rose gold. But it obviously was for the 50th and they just got a head start on it a year and a half early. I think too Chapek wanted each castle to look similar to each other for brand cohesion and it didn’t actually work out that way in practice…. that’s just a theory of mine. What was the point of re-painting it anyway. I hear it was connected to the 50th Anniversary but that makes even less sense than the Castle Cake.
It looked better than the cake, not that that is saying much. Never mind the fact that MK's 50th was so uneventful I often forget it even happened. It was definitely connected to the 50th. That's the whole reason it took place. It looked bad, but that is the reason.
That would actually explain quite a bit.I think too Chapek wanted each castle to look similar to each other for brand cohesion and it didn’t actually work out that way in practice…. that’s just a theory of mine.
What was different about it after 2005? I can’t really tellLooking better already.
I’m glad to see they’re seemingly going for the 1971-2005 colours.
Adding some warmer tones to the upper portions. What was different about it after 2005? I can’t really tell
They also added the chevron and plaid patterns to the wide turret sections (above the clock and the top window) about that same time. It didn't have them before the Happiest Celebration on Earth castle overlay-the one with the gold statues and giant magic mirror thingAdding some warmer tones to the upper portions.
No definitive timeframe given but you’d have to imagine they’d like to avoid the summer heat. What was different about it after 2005? I can’t really tell
And the downpours. I presume that’s tough on fresh paint. No definitive timeframe given but you’d have to imagine they’d like to avoid the summer heat.
Especially if it’s latex (water soluble) paint…And the downpours. I presume that’s tough on fresh paint.
Well the castle looks to be 1/3rd of the way done, how long have they been working on it? Multiply that number by 3, and that’s how long I would guess.
Looking sooo good!!!
I think the rose gold repaint was good intentioned but to me they never got the color right for this castle. IMHO it should have been a way more pale rose gold than what we got. Very happy to see it returning to its classic perfect look!
I am thrilled with the current changes, even if it is just primer. The current pace makes it feel like we might be rid of all pink & white within a month, even if it takes much longer to get to the final designI'm pretty sure the current layer is just primer. They'll add a coat of the actual paint once priming is complete.
