Walt Disney – A Magical Life

I saw the show last week. I think if you weren't aware of the past anti-AA Walt story you'd not blink about anything in this show.

The Iger narration angst is all inside baseball stuff.. and the AA comes across as fluid and pretty normal looking. I'm more thrown by the speech not really feeling like its coming from the figure and my own personal expectations of what Walt image you'd pick. If you weren't a hyper fan like we are you'd see it as just another person standing in as Walt.

I think the biggest negative is the show isn't all that memorable or impactful. It's got a kind of fable/parable feel to it, but it doesn't really deliver on a punch of any type for someone who isn't gonna fawn over a Walt figure (finally).

I found the site drawings of the different parks and their cards more impactful. Notably in how closely together those different plans were made and how quickly.

According to exploringthedisneyworld on Instagram, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln briefly returned yesterday due to technical issues with Walt Disney - A Magical Life:

Compare to the old Lincoln set. If the set shown there is the final draft, the new version is similar but flatter.

I suppose the turntable may limit things, but frankly I'd prefer if BOTH sets were a bit bigger. The smaller size of the newer sets is a giving a little more "high school drama production" energy than they likely intend.

Is this a necessarily evil and is the set downgrade worth having the Walt Disney show and two interchangeable shows? Probably, but it’s also a reminder of how a lot coming out of WDI is a mixed bag these days. Particularly with rethemes, overlays, and replacements.

Lincoln is honestly just the better show. The Walt Disney thing really does not land for me- it's fine for what it is, but after seeing it a couple times I have no desire to watch it.

Based off the photo, not a fan of Lincoln's reduced set but it is what it is. The figure has always been the focus.
