DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I'm still trying to figure out how they are getting across the service road to the show building. Since I have yet to see a ramp (or tunnel), are they re-routing the road to keep the path flat and the sightlines level?

The plaza faces the bottom side of the Rise show building
The rocks on sticks are all on the opposite side of the land
All they need here is a few trees to cover a 2 story show building

This is not accurate. First that “two story” show building is like 50’ tall with large mechanical equipment on top of it. The plaza is at an angle to the back of house as it runs along Galaxy’s Edge. This creates the long side of the plaza opposite Galaxy’s Edge, increasing the variety of vantages.

The area the art shows as full of trees includes the Rise of the Resistance back of house access that will have to be somewhat maintained. So no trees there. Then it wouldn’t be wise to put big tall trees, which have deep roots, on top of the utilities that are remaining, further minimizing planting area. A few trees is nowhere near sufficient.

They don’t need a ramp or tunnel. It can just remain as a paved corridor. The road will wrap around the coaster but access will still be needed into the park area, so there will likely be at least one gate providing that access.

I’ve never noticed the back of Everest wasn’t themed, it must not jump out at you like the peaks on sticks at least.

I hadn’t even thought of that with the door coaster show building, I hope you’re right, it’s been a pet peeve of mine since they built GE.

The back of Everest is themed, it's just very light themeing

This project definitely has to deal with a tough corner
I personally don't think they'll leave the backside of SWGE visible from inside Monstropolis
But none of us have enough info to say it conclusively either way, so I'll leave it at that

Probably what they do between TSL and GE, put up opened gates that blend in on each side of the walking path during the day. Close the gates after closing for service road use.

It has to deal with a “tough corner” because it’s a terribly planned project. The problem is entirely of Disney’s creation, just as with the awful placement of Tron or the miserable placemaking of TSL or the new EPCOT hub. Disney management seems to be making poorly planned decisions reacting to immediate perceived crises and paying little to no attention to the actual layout or future development of the parks.

Just in the one day since these photos were taken, the construction wall has come out a few feet onto Grand Ave and the gelato cart that was on the sidewalk has been relocated.

Sightlines remain a concern for me too. Both of the Rise back of house. Plus as @Animaniac93-98 pointed out, we’re burying the lead on the show building itself with a conveniently see through model.

There’s a huge waste of space at the side of Rise that a better plan would absolutely use for guest facilities.

On a positive note, I still think we haven’t ruled out a phased reopening. We’ll see.

Interesting, I’ve never noticed this, makes me wonder if that means it’s themed well enough to trick the eyes into not noticing or I’ve just never looked from the right angle.

Probably just never looked at it from the right angle. The picture here is from a road that is not (regularly) accessible/traveled by guests. I believe they regularly run marathons along this road which is why you see these pictures more often now. Not sure you can (clearly) see the back of Everest from anywhere but this road.

there is a large gap between the new showbuilding and the old muppets/new Monsters land. MAybe they will use false store fronts and trees to extend the "town" area and conceal RotR building?

Why would those buildings be excluded from the documentation showing building footprints?
I will say that the nodule jutting out from the northwest corner of the building doesn't seem to be present in the art (old or new), which makes me wonder if there's some additional chunk of facade there. While I'm not confident everything will be fully hidden, I still think the later art was just a hasty edit that isn't terribly representative of how the plaza will actually look.
