So I finally forced myself to sit through this one time in person. I had watched it through twice on YouTube prior. Normally I wouldn't spoil an attraction for myself but this time I just didn't care. I'm glad I did because I would have hated it even more if I went in blind.

It is truly an atrociously bad attraction every possible level.

Despite watching it through three times, so much chaos, so much nonsense, a complete lack of any sort of internal logic, I literally can't even really follow what is going on in each scene. The entire thing might as well randomly generated imagery. It was probably written by AI, so maybe that tracks?

The audio quality is horrendous. It sounds like what I'd imagine putting in any random blu-ray and playing it in the Tree of Life theater, something made for a home theater and not, you know, a 4D theme park attraction. Probably because they didn't program this show with the Tree of Life Theater's audio system in mind. So it all sounds compressed, garbled, noisy, and shrill. All of the dialogue is hard to understand. It's all just noise.

I've already tore into it pages ago so I won't repeat myself but. Yeah. This is offensively bad, and the worst part is all the Disney Adults who are just going to parrot that "it's fine" because "It's Tough to Be a Bug was outdated", as if that makes it okay for this to be as awful as it is? But I guess that sort of default blind praise accompanied by a complete lack of scrutiny is exactly the type of guest Disney wants these days.

Yes
What I enjoyed about the show is that its inside with a temperature controlled environment, dark, and has a pleasing palette of colors. That's all I enjoyed about the attraction.

What did you like about it?
1. I like the humor, I know a lot of it is kinda "low-brow" but it's funny. The "Hey bub" joke was something I liked from the movie and it was much funnier with the watersplashes. I found the sheep in wolf's clothing really funny as well.

2. I like the references to various Zootopia characters. I'm a big fan of Zootopia in general and it's nice to see them having fun with an attraction.

3. I found the animatronic of Clawhauser to be very high quality and very cool.

4. I also like "over the place" attractions because we're not following a set story pace. It's an animated show, you should use the animation to its full extent. I feel the same way about MMRR, it should go a little crazy because its animated. That's one of the faults that some of the live action reboots when animated I feel miss. Animation means you can do some crazier things.

5. A little bias but the audience reaction did warm my heart a bit (it was a very cold day). Hearing all the families laughing along was really sweet.

6. I think it was fun to bring back Bellweather in the way they did.

Overall a very fun attraction imo and about an equal with ITTBAB for me personally, however, I will concede that it wasn't the best fit for AK specifically. I would have liked to see more about the specific biomes and how the animals adapt to their environments rather than the "performance" style that they went with. Overall, I found it to be a fun show but not anything "top of the park". I would give it about a 7/10.

For reference, my fiancee is a bit more strict with her ratings and is a little more harsh against certain rides/attractions even at Disney and she also really liked it and was joking that "this is what all those Disney fans were saying is the 'worst thing ever', it was so fun" if that's any additional information. She does have a small list of Disney attractions she flat out dislikes and this was not one of them.

I have watched the zootopia show 3 times now. I had at least 50 % different guests with me each time. My group and the entire audience from the sound of it loved the show each time. For me maybe my liking the show is because it's new , I don't know. I will have to see over time how it ages with me. But I would contrast this with Splash vs Tiana's. I felt from the very first ride that Tiana's is was a lesser experience ( last scene is good).

Quoting myself.

I have ADHD and it just makes the show worse. People with ADHD do not necessarily have a low attention span, rather their attention is trying to focus on too many things at once. So something like Zootopia Better Zoogether only amplifies the symptoms of ADHD which is the opposite of what people with ADHD want.

A good piece of entertainment media that is focused and not hyper nonsense will actually focus all of my attention on it and is enjoyable.

Better Zoogether was, however, definitely made for the TikTok generation, young people who have grown up entirely on hyperactive media that has a cut every 5 seconds or less or the endless assortment of short videos on social media.

The fact that any adults are finding anything enjoyable in Better Zoogether actually concerns me a bit. Has the state of media really diluted the average person’s brain so much that they will smile and clap along to completely incoherent hyperactive slop? As long as it contains (Thing They Recognize)?

You know what's funny?
I was watching a video where I believe it was Matt Damon who said that the requirements Netflix had for their action movies is for something crazy to happen within the first 5 minutes and that the movie must continuously remind viewers of the goal/endgame. Essentially, they cannot trust viewers to focus on a movie...their expectation is that they will be watching while endlessly scrolling through their phone. This is the audience they are catering to. Honestly, it is hard to blame them as we have done this to ourselves.

Have you seen magic journeys? Talk about concerning!

Zootopia at least has the AA and some well done in theatre effects.

Seems like it could have gone into Epcot just as easily though and replaced Pixar film

I also love HEA and a majority of people still love it so again doesn't have to be a holier than thou statement to like or not like these new shows. Times have changed, Disney obviously read the room right as in general, families do seem to like both shows. 🤷‍♂️

Short-form quick paced content is the standard but there is plenty of room for longer shows/experiences as well. I also like most of the longer form or "boring" attractions while still loving the short quick snappy stuff. There's options.

HEA is in the same vein as Wishes. It’s a lot of stuff mashed together. But it isn’t hyper.

I can’t really comment on Magic Journeys.

An attraction being short, snappy, and fast paced doesn’t mean it’s also automatically incoherent hyperactive slop. The main issue with Zootopia isn’t that it’s fast paced, it’s that it is completely incoherent and lacking in any kind of internal logic to follow.

I think fireworks are the biggest offender. Loud and bright? Made for people with ADHD.

I think you don’t understand what ADHD actually entails and are doing the usual uninformed person assumption that it simply means being easily distracted.

And also , no, fireworks shows are not similar at all because there is only one thing to focus on: the fireworks. Sometimes enhanced with lights, water, etc.

Better Zoogether has about 20 things happening on screen every 5 seconds. It’s incoherent. It’s slop. It’s noise.

Incoherent... Noise... I don't know, you're describing fireworks to me. For Zootopia you're just focusing on the film playing, sometimes enhanced with effects.

Also talking to the wrong person about ADHD ;)
