Trip Report Finally Back in Our Happy Place. A Three Week Trip With a Cruise Included. Now with a Norway Cruise on the Disney Fantasy

We’ve been back for just over a week from what was a wonderful three weeks. There were a few hiccups, but for the most part Disney World was just as we remembered it.

This trip was me and my two youngest daughters, Alice (18) and Lexi (15)

We stayed at Pop Century from July 7th-20th, then sailed on the Disney Magic from July 20th-25th, then French Quarter for the last three nights, July 25th-28th. For the Pop Century part of the trip we had the UK 14 day park tickets which included the waterparks.

The tour guide kept us entertained on the journey with information about the area, most of which I’ve forgotten. I do remember him telling us that the Briksdal glacier that we were visiting was actually a glacial arm of a much larger glacier, the Jostedal glacier which is the largest in mainland Europe.

The bus dropped everyone off at a lodge at the bottom of the trail where there was a shop, cafe and toilet facilities and we were told a time that we had to be back at the bus, then we were left on our own to walk the approximately 3km to the glacier. We were told to stick to the main easy trail, there were some other very challenging trails that would require proper hiking gear

Luckily it had stopped raining and I set off out of the car park and up the trail

I could see the glacier in the distance

The people in front of me raced off and the people behind me were slower so it felt like I had the trail to myself a lot of the time. It was much less trail-y than I expected, I thought it would be more dirt path but it was mostly paved or slightly gravelly

I’ve looked at the map of my walk to try to jog my memory and it doesn’t look like there was a lake near the cafe, just a river. I don’t have any photos so not sure it’s the same place
Must have been a different part of the glacier we were supposed to visit. Unfortunately the path was closed due to rockslides when we were there.

There was a real sense of calm as I continued up the trail. It was definitely not quiet, the crash of the water over the rocks was loud, but there was an absence of noise that wasn’t part of the nature around me. I couldn’t hear the other people around me, there was no traffic noise, no sounds of modern day life, it was wonderful

I’ve tried to pick out my favourite photos but I’m not doing very well at narrowing it down, so I’m posting a lot

The last few photos before getting to the glacier lake. It was a lovely walk up there, a few slightly steeper bits but nothing too bad. It took me just under an hour to walk the 3 km, but I walked quite slowly and stopped a lot to take photos and enjoy the views
