I'm happy with the choice and have seen this as the likely path for some time. I think Josh genuinely cares about the parks and will push for reinvestment where possible.

Yeah…. I haven’t seen much to give me any hope but he at least knows what the parks are and he is decent at public speaking so that’s a win from the Bob & Bob show.
He doesn’t speak with open disdain for the mob of DAs keeping the place afloat…for sure. That’s a positive

But he has had the Same boss as Slaphead did…and the boss is the lord of everything in his own head. That’s not a good recipe for change.

If you love the Parks and still love Josh you might be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

In all fairness he only had the job for 4 months at the point, so all that was likely set into motion before he even steps into the role.

I won't say it'll be sunshine and roses if he is ultimately named as CEO (which seems inevitable at this point), but as a Parks fan one I think should feel optimistic about a Parks Head who appears to genuinely like the Parks and sees value in them becoming CEO.

This actually scares me. Being parks-focused is nice, but Disney is first and foremost a media company. The media usually flows into the parks, and usually not the other way around. Media is also where Disney has floundered the most post-2020. I hope Josh has a close second who can help him boost this part of the business back up, and actually allows creatives in those divisions to be creative again.
That is Bob's creation as he always wanted to be known as a media guy to schmooze with the Hollywood types but the reality is the bulk of the company earnings past and future come from parks and cruise lines. Entertainment company

This is a statement that has changed over time as the company has morphed through many different stages of itself.

Eisner and later have turned Disney into a media conglomerate.. especially under Iger where they have built a media warchest to fuel the DTC engine. But this wasn't always Disney... just like Disney the company morphed multiple times in its past too.

In recent decades, Disney has shown they can monetize the parks with good ROI and margins. In the same period, the past role of King.. movie studios.. has waned.. and broadcast has seen it's own sunset. So it shouldn't be a big doubt that Disney has also been shifting investment priorities.

Product shift is hurting classic movie studio models. I don't think anyone has figured it out yet, just like streaming will continue to evolve too.

Disney isn't trying to be a disruptor here.. so we don't get some wild inventor at the wheel.. Disney is a heavy incumbant.. so you're getting more people trying to navigate the storm and find new harbors.
I'm not convinced that's changed. We're going to Universal Studios, and the land I'm most excited for is Harry Potter, while my dad and mom are most excited for Nintendo. The success of HTTYG and Minions are for a younger demographic than mine, but even the people who grew up with these are now adults making spending decisions. Yes, that's traditional media, but it's also all we watched or played with prior to the streaming boom. Netflix has Stranger Things experiences around the world, KPOP Demon Hunters has hit Everland, and Bluey would be a hit if he came to the former Playhouse Disney area

Whether or not they are replacements, you probably don't want many more walls in the parks at the moment, especially as some other dire refurbishments loom (Space Mountain, Spaceship Earth, etc.).
I’m of the mind they should shut a park down in sequence and really hit it…

But that’s hard when you have your entire media empire depending on churro and lightning lane sales

As someone who fully suspected the board/street would never allow another parks chairman to be considered after Chapek,
I actually wouldn't blame them for thinking that. Not that Chapek (or Iger for that matter) understood theme parks as anything other than a glorified form of advertising.
