Tour guide removed from Disneyland

Yeah just best not to risk your business, getting flagged by Disney may have other outcomes that you may not realize.

So follow the rules and just do things right and everything should be fine.
That’s why I went full transparency mode with them, we can’t afford not having them around.
Before going I asked guest relations before the gates if there was a flag on my name, ID or tickets she said there wasn’t any, maybe I wasn’t even trespassed since I have seen people receive a note by the police, that didn't happen to me.
Someone mentioned I was possibly just escorted out and not banned, I tend to agree more to that statement.

Yes, this is as I said before, you were escorted out, and that was the warning.

Anymore violations and you would be flagged and trespassed. So yeah follow the rules and just do things right and everything should be fine.

Don’t the large international and school groups have tour guides with them?
They have a Chaperone or a Group Leader, so they are not guiding, just responsible for the group, many of them have no knowledge of the parks and are just having fun with them. Sometimes they are the only adult with these groups so they must be there to take care of them.

I wasn’t referring to chaperones. I was referring to professional tour guides that often accompany either school groups or international groups. We used to call them “bus tours“ at the attraction that I used to work at.

I mentioned those, I am one of those, they are not allowed to operate inside the disney parks.
Any of them.

BTW, it should be noted this isn't new, Disney has been cracking down on 3rd party Tour Guides over the last couple years at all their Parks.

Here is a video on the topic from back in 2023 about WDW -

They have been enforcing it off and on for quite some time. I think Jim Hill got his infamous ban in 2005.

It would not surprise me that there might have been issues with this all the way back to the 50's at DL.

Yeah, after I was escorted out I went to look for more info and saw some videos and it dates back to nov 2023, crazy that we work in partnership with Disney selling tickets as registered resellers and travel agents and one e-mail to us would have helped a lot so I could adapt. This is not common knowledge as some cast members I know that work there for years didn’t know it and all my colleagues too. I unfortunately could not find more updated info or recent cases, I hope this thread helps more guides to stop operations on the disney parks.

By Adapt you mean not wear a backpack that says “Tour Guide?”

Not at all, I am not including guiding on the parks when I sell my packages anymore. I am actually now teaching them how to navigate the parks before they go there and how to manage the app, tell which rides are worth the lines and define a group leader and I also add round trip transfers. I also stay online with them for the whole duration of their visit to help with the language.

Or does your use of "Adapt" mean actually reading the Property Rules, Policies, & Regulations ?

Well first I don't think we have many "tour guides" who operate as a business here on the forums.

But second Disney doesn't have to inform you of anything, let alone tell you that you cannot operate a Tour Guide business within the Parks as part of your Travel Agency. It is the business owner (assuming that's you) that is required to keep up with Disney rules that are well documented on their site -

The rules that apply to your situation that show what are prohibited are -
  • The sale of goods or services, or the display of goods or services, unless prior written approval has been obtained.
  • Photography, videotaping or recording of any kind, or otherwise engaging in any activity, for unapproved commercial purposes.
  • Unauthorized solicitations of any kind, whether commercial, religious, educational or otherwise, or conducting any unauthorized commercial activities, including solicitations of money or other contributions or donations.
And finally -
  • We reserve the right to prohibit any other activity that we determine may be harmful or disruptive, in our sole and absolute discretion.
  • We reserve the right to deny admission, prevent entry or require a person already admitted to leave the Disneyland Resort or any party thereof, without refund, liability or compensation, for failure to comply with any of these rules, for unsafe, illegal or offensive behaviour, to ensure safety, security or order, or if we consider that the circumstances otherwise so require, in our sole and absolute discretion.

It should be noted that Disneyland Resort does offer language assistance if a guest needs it, including the use of translation devices while in the Parks, just tell them to go to Guest Services and they can inquire about language assistance.

In addition there are now AI assistants that can help with real time language translation. Not to mention that there are even hearing aids that can do language translation.

So many options available for guests that don't predominately speak English.

Yes
Honestly? Yes. On a monthly basis, since they change it with no notice.

As a business, they have the prerogative to set their own terms and conditions and per California law :

Key Requirements for Changing Guest Policies in California
  • Express Notice for Changes: According to the Ninth Circuit, companies must provide express notice to consumers when they change terms and conditions; hidden changes are unenforceable.
  • Method of Notice: Changes should be communicated via email, website splash pages, or other direct methods, ensuring the guest is aware of the new terms.
So they meet the legal requirement by updating the Terms and Conditions on their website as specifically you described a California event.

Now for the Disneyworld references, they don't matter. By purchasing admission media you agree to abide by the terms and conditions set forth by the company and your recourse is arbitration that you agree to also by purchasing admission media or visiting their properties.
