Not my pictures they were sent to me, but a new kiosk opened on the boardwalk selling snack novelties. Not sure if this is permanent or just for the peak season.

I would rather they kick out the pretzels that you can already get at Joe's and replace those slots with more popcorn or another common Boardwalk novelty item, but overall this is nice. I actually can't find any mention of another place selling taffy popcorn despite the large amount of novelty popcorn shops and the fact that popcorn taffy exists, so points for a unique idea.

I personally would never opt for a prepackaged ice cream when there's a proper ice cream place right across the lane though.

The ice cream place always seems underutilized, I think they could move ice cream to an outdoor kiosk and make that whole area the deli. Or maybe a big QSR where big river grill was…

It was better before it was just Beaches and Cream without seats, but it seems to be busy regularly, I think it's worth keeping where it is, Big River Grille is the better pick.

Plus Boardwalk Ice Cream has actually good soft serve. Which is something I didn't think you could screw up but several places around Disney do.

Putting a QSR where Big River Grill was or turning the ice cream shop into a food outlet doesn't solve the problem. The problem is that all those people in the Boardwalk Inn rooms and Boardwalk Villa rooms have to get soaking wet in order to get any food when the Florida daily deluge happens because there is nothing inside the resort, apart from a coffee shop and club level snacks, providing internal access to food.

To be fair, it is the same at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, there is no connection between the room and the food outlets without going outside.

Really? I hadn't known that. We had to make the walk across the boardwalk last Saturday during the rain storm from Epcot back to swan and dolphin (along with braving the rain after the Christmas party on Sunday.) That would be a bit of an inconvenience having to deal with the rain to go eat. But at the same token, if you are in Florida at WDW are you really not going to expect to potentially make some kind of walk in the rain at some point?

If you order at the quick service Corn Dog Booth or the Pizza window, there is no real shelter while you queue to order, wait for the food, or eat. The Deli also doesn't have anywhere to sit and eat. You really have to get wet, collect your food and then eat in your room if you don't have a dining reservation.

There are rooms in the Villas near the footprint of Big River. Theoretically, an interior connection to the lobby could be built. Doesn't mean they would...you'd need to take an elevator, which isn't ideal.

What an additional elevator bank on the DVC side?

You mean someone doesn't have walk through miles of hallway to get to the elevator?

Good point, reinforces the need to have a proper QSR

A quick fix could be to build a couple of pavilions along the boardwalk on the water side with tables underneath.

I think their "lightening in the vicinity of bodies of water" protocols would knock that on the head unless the pavilions were substantial enough. How does it work with the mid-lake (Three Bridges) dining at Coronado -- I've never been there during a storm?

at both the boardwalk and springs I’ve noticed a lot more drunk behavior- not sure if that’s luck - the demographics of visitors etc.

I noticed it at Epcot too but that’s nothing new sadly.

I feel like Disney is approaching a tipping point with alcohol sales if they still want to attract families.

I've had virtually no luck starting new forums (& to be fair I believe that's a major reason why so many threads go off on tangents...the tangents standing on their own threads may not get enough traction?)...so I'm posting this here since it's "Boardwalk."

I never knew it was free to begin with. I wish I had known.

I remember being allowed to park for free at various other resort hotels in years/decades past. It wasn't me being cheap. I would always, at the very least, get a meal in one of their many restaurants. It was a treat I gave myself when I had to pass through from northern to southern Florida (for example) and I had time for little more than a meal to sustain me for the rest of the trek.

I gave up on that long ago because the last several attempts I was ALWAYS turned away for not having a reservation. I didn't want to push my luck any more than I already did because I also knew they were scanning my license plate.

The next time I'm passing through I may try Boardwalk. I'd been there in the past many times over its 30 years, but it was via Friendship.

Yes, I know Disney Springs parking is "free," but it's far more aggravation than its worth (compared to sliding into a resort) given the little time I've had fyi/imo.

And I haven't been too impressed with the dining at Disney Springs when I have tried it. But maybe that's just me.

The link you posted is about Disneyland Paris. It has nothing to do with Boardwalk. 🤷🏻‍♀️
