MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

Here is a question actually somewhat related to the construction topic of this thread. Does Bioreconstruct do his helicopter flights weekly? I’ll be honest and say that I was surprised from his last flyover that there were concrete forms already being built in Piston Peak. I know nothing of the construction process, but these projects seem to be moving faster than some of their previous projects - both large and small. And this forum desperately needs more stuff to talk about.

There’s nothing about these projects that show any evidence of moving faster. They’re doing site work.

I do wonder if the forms are part of some infrastructure work instead of foundations for actual show elements.

Today’s Disney Dish speculated that some of the HM permit work may be signaling that the entrance to Villains Land may go in the area where the Tangled restrooms are located, and not around near Piston Peak (would also mean a reconfiguration of the HM queue).

Sorry, but why, exactly? The work on Haunted Mansion, even if it includes a new section of queue, would in no way impede the planned entrance to Villains. Additionally, entering near the Tangled bathrooms is extremely impractical. You'd be funneled down a narrow pathway flanked by massive show buildings that would be difficult to theme and would end up being nothing but dead facades. You'd have to traipse through roughly 100m of nothing.

I'm genuinely curious if they provided any rationale or if they were just exploring personal hopes.

One possibility could be if they ever want to expand Fantasyland in the future, this path would allow them to do so.

I just listened, honestly because I thought The Realest must have heard it wrong. But no, they did say that, with no real basic explanation. I think they are forgetting how that path would have to route… which is extra odd because they then speculate if the HM queue moved over there, the space between Hm and Small world is so narrow.

Most indeed.

The 'path' being talked about is an emergency vehicle route and BoH access. See the yellow line below. You'd be walking in a canyon of two two-story buildings at the level of entrance into the utilidor (see the red line below). It is completely unusable as long as either HM or IaSW stayed.

This is why I had been advocating to razing IaSW and rebuilding a better one in EPCOT. Now, *that* would have provided access to behind-the-RoA.

Impossible path...

Practically speaking it seems like the dark ride show building will sit back there anyways and possibly provide backstage access for some food facilities.

The most likely way they’d expand Fantasyland (if they ever did) is punching through the Gaston Tavern washroom facilities or more likely taking out the circus tents. The railroad provides good ability to make that traverse.

unless there is a larger plan were not privy to just yet - long term existence of IASW? - this seems to create more work and cost. Doesn’t it also undercut one of the reasons for getting rid of ROA/TSI (needing clear access back to Villains?) I also feel they’d need to do a ton of work to hide the HM show building if they go this route.
