Trip Report A Disney Year: a recap of 2025

Hello! It’s been awhile since I have done a trip report. I always think I’m going to post one and then I don’t. I’m not disciplined enough to do a live report either. Well I decided to do a recap of highlights of my trips this year to WDW and Disneyland.

The people involved: me (Amy) and Brad (my husband)

Trips: January (WDW), March (Disneyland), April (WDW), June (WDW), July (Disneyland)

Reasons for travel: quick check up on my dad, DL Food and Wine, Easter and visiting my niece on the college program, just for fun, celebrating Disneyland’s 70.

While we were finishing at Tambu our text came from Trader Sam’s so we headed downstairs. Tambu had been super fun though the bartender was great and we ended up talking to a lady that was doing her first solo trip. She was feeling silly for coming solo to WDW but when I told her about all my solo trips she said she felt better. It was fun chatting with her

Trader Sam’s was excellent. We got the Nautilus and some other drinks
Along with some food. The bartenders were super fun.

After Trader Sam’s our next stop was the Enchanted Rose at the Grand Floridian or Grand Flo as some people refer to it as . 😉. The Enchanted Rose always disappoints us in terms of drinks. But the food we got was good.

Last stop: Contemporary. We put our name on the list for the California Grill bar but it was too close to fireworks time and it would be a long wait. We did get called back but that was about 20 minutes after the fireworks and we had left the Contemporary already. Anyway, Brad and I ended up at the bar at Steakhouse 71. Again the bartender was great . Brad and something that was like an Old Fashioned and I had a glass of MacMurray Pinot noir. It was a nice way to end the bar crawl.

The plan was to head back to the Magic Kingdom bus stop but the thought of walking there and taking a bus was not appealing. So I ordered a Lyft while in the bathroom. Our driver was there in less than five minutes and we had a nice ride back to the Sports.

Hollywood Studios day today. We had a fun morning hitting up attractions and watching the Viilians show and the new Little Mermaid. We even had time to share a breakfast Ronto. Lunch was at Woodys BbQ which was new to us. And it was a solid meal. brad was very pleased with the BBQ and there was plenty to eat. I thought the biscuits were really tasty, better than Homecomin. We rolled out of there super full!

The afternoon was hot but we had some portable fans. It was a nice afternoon and in the evening we went back tonSprings for dinner at the Boathouse. The food was good, at usual but the room we were put in was really loud. Our waiter also brought me the wrong beer and when I pointed it out he comped the first when and brought the right one. We ended the night getting cookies at Gideon’s. The line wasn’t too bad and we could see and beat the music at one of Raglans outside bars so that was fun. I had brought home cookies in January from Gideon’s but Brad had never been and he thought it was interesting once inside. The cookies were good but not as good at the Summerhouse.

The last picture is a screenshot of the timer I had going to see how long the Gideon’s line was . So that is the time from getting in line through the end point of sale and stepping out. When we got in line the Gideon’s gl said the wait was 40 minutes so she wasn’t far off.

June 28: My birthday!!!

Of course my birthday will be celebrated at the Magic Kingdom and it was a great morning. Our bus was the first to arrive at the MK and we were second in line for security . We had fun taking silly pictures on MainStreet and by the castle. It was just a great morning of doing attractions that I (we) liove. And that did not include Tiana’s.

Birthday plans included stalking, I mean seeing the Dapper Dans. My birthday lunch was a big hot dog at Casey’s and the a little more touring including taking our last lap on the Liberty Belle before we headed back to the Sports for a nap. But once at the Sports I had a taste for a frose and Brad had an old fashioned. The bartender was friendly and made one of Brads best old fashioneds of the trip.

What a great birthday you had!

Just wanted to say that Brad had some of the best shirts -- really fun designs!!

Love the photos of the two of you, "performing" alongside the Dapper Dans. 🥰

They made us square dance...that must be the Illinois equivalent LOL

@MinnieM123 beat me to it!

i was going to say that Brad is the Best Dressed Disney Man! I love his shirts. Tell him we all approve 😁

Colorado was a square dancing state as well!

In Indiana, we also had square dancing in PE Class in the mid-eighties.

Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoooooisers!

Brad says thanks for the kind words, he gets his shirts mostly from RSVLTS. The quality is really good.

Oh and don't worry in Wisconsin we had to square dance too, but the focus was on polka. And then line dancing! I wish we had learned to swing dance.

I would like to go back it was really busy so we couldn’t hear the old radio shows that apparently play from the radios. I don’t think we will make it there this weekend when we go but maybe in March.
When in March? We are there evening of 18th through 20th, before we board the Disney Treasure.

Our last full day at WdW and look we are at the Boardwalk again. This time to go to the Cake Bake shop for breakfast. This was a fairly spur of the moment decision (made at dinner last night) . Brad’s former intern had been to the Cake Bake and raved about it, and even though I had been to the bakery with my niece in April his intern insisted that the sit down part was a must do. And Brad wanted to try it.

Breakfast was good and not busy at all. I had the goat cheese quiche and it honestly was the best crust I have ever had on a pie. The quiche part had just a tad too much goat cheese but that was fine. (A Wisconsin gal just said there was too much cheese!!). I don’t know what Brad had but he enjoyed it. Oh the roasted potatoes were just ok, a lot of black pepper. The potatoes Trattoria next door are better. I would eat here again.

Then we headed into Epcot and rode Ratatouille and watched Impressions de France again. Then just wandered around World Showcase and enjoyed the quiet.

On our journey around World Showcase I noticed towel animals in the bathrooms, it continued into Future World too. I asked Brad if the men had towel animals in the bathroom for men. They did not and he was sad.

We continued our relaxing morning with Frozen, Land, Guardians, more wandering and then another shot at Geo 82. He wanted the bourbon flight which we really enjoyed. I started with some strawberry drink, it was ok but a little bitter While we were there it started down pouring so we drank more.
