MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

The Keelboat dock is sometimes used as overflow queue space for HM so it will be interesting to see how they handle that during construction

Also if they keep any of the building or tear down the whole thing. The former gift shop is used for storage, I believe.

WDI Files Construction Permit for Keelboat Landing as Cars and Villains Lands Prep Continues a Magic Kingdom

Why is the assumption that this is for this project and not The Haunted Mansion which had a notice filed by the same people, for the same contractor on the same day?

Hope would be that they build a well themed extended queue (like Disneyland) just north of the current queue. they can't have the HM line blocking the entrance to piston peak constantly.

or ever... I am sure the outdoor queue for HM will be extended past the house and that whole area will get wider... it will be a huge bypass around HM and on to the new areas... I would imagine the clear walkway would be about the width of the esplanade around the ROA just continuing... HM Queue should be more like the Tokyo one...with additional structures, a removal of Interactive queue...maybe repurposing parts of it...

Why is the assumption that the walkway has to be so far north? The fun map art shows it immediately north of the riverboat dock and there is plenty of room in that area for a walkway.

Tried to line it up... but the HM queue typically overflows all the way to (and past) the riverboat dock. View attachment 903005View attachment 903004
I'm not making any claims here, but I tried to scale and align the riverboat dock and then pasted the walkway from the Fun Map (in red) in top of what's there now. That would indicate the walkway wiping out not only the keel boats building but the HM queue. Do I expect that? No, so it's more an indication the Fun Map is providing unreliable testimony as to what will happen.

I think it's fair to say that the HM overflow will need to be reworked before Piston Peak can open

Or it could just wrap down a new pathway.
I have a lot of complaints about "modern Disney" but one thing I give them credit for is I think they are more thoughtful about accommodating queues within dedicated queue spaces rather than using the walkways. That of course applies mostly to new attractions, but if they're re-working the whole area outside HM, I'd think/hope modern Disney would take the opportunity to create a dedicated queue space.

They definitely have an opportunity to address the HM extended queue, especially since there is no more river to physically prevent a line from extending in that area. I can't imagine this was not considered in the new layout, along with where the extended queues will be for the new PP attractions.
