A Shift In The Force For Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy: The Exit Interview
Not two hours after wrapping Star Wars: Starfighter, Kathleen Kennedy was ready to discuss the long-in-the-works transition of Lucasfilm.
Great exit interview. Mentions the status, or lack of status, on a half dozen projects (Rian Johnson, Taika, Mangold, Kinberg). Is explicitly asked by the interviewer if she’s missed anything - and she never mentions Sharmeen Obiad-Chinoy at all, or any of the Rey projects.![]()

Confirming what we know…Great exit interview. Mentions the status, or lack of status, on a half dozen projects (Rian Johnson, Taika, Mangold, Kinberg). Is explicitly asked by the interviewer if she’s missed anything - and she never mentions Sharmeen Obiad-Chinoy at all, or any of the Rey projects.
I mean does it really matter at this point? Forced out early or let allowed to retire, the end result is the same. She got the boot…don’t start with this stupidity
Both sides just “waited it out”
Can we wear the big boy pants tonight?
I have insider information that Kathleen Kennedy is being forced out of LucasFilm!!!!
Wouldn’t bet on that oneI have insider info that Bob is being transitioned out next. Stay tuned!
She failed…the case is closed now.How about for every contract renewal extension Kennedy had the fandom menace takes a decade off?
I simply don't give a crap. The damage was done a LONG time ago.
Unlike Abrams…he’s at least a fan of Star Wars…that’s somethingDoes he understand Star Wars? Because whoever has been green lighting Star Wars movies since Disney took over sure didn’t. And this is coming from a person who was at the first day matinee of Star Wars at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood in 1977.
He should be given a chance of course, but I am really surprised more people don't also have reservations. In what may be a surprise: I have a number of reservations about filoni
FWIW They were shut down. Cant say a lot about what went on but I got laid off during pre-production on one of them. Didn't affect me much as I was freelance and working on other projects, but a few people I work with were full time and tied to two Lucas projects at once and were just let go on the spot.Confirming what we know…
They’ve basically been shutdown…which is the right move even Bob couldn’t screw up
They torpedoed the biggest movie franchise in modern Hollywood…FWIW They were shut down. Cant say a lot about what went on but I got laid off during pre-production on one of them. Didn't affect me much as I was freelance and working on other projects, but a few people I work with were full time and tied to two Lucas projects at once and were just let go on the spot.
IIRC was in the region of approx 50 people in the UK production side that were let go. We all knew it was coming, we were going weeks between any real progress happening and were just dealing with excuse after excuse from above on why things were being held up. We literally had soundstages sitting empty for over a year during a period where they could've been rented out for a premium but weren't allowed to do so as they kept saying we'd need them "soon".
Funnily enough a fair few of us are now back together, just working with an incredible team at Leavesden on a long running project instead so alls well that ends well!
As for what happens next at Lucas who knows, but I've got very little hope of it improving any time soon. The issues are bigger than one person at this point.
