Ashoka should really be a hit…a popular clone wars character with a lot of OT/EU weenies
Everyone keeps saying that.

It was a cartoon character shoehorned into bigger things, not because of any inherent popularity of the character, but because Dave is obsessed with the character. Being a popular character in a 2 cartoon and D+ shows that no one watched doesn't translate into mass market appeal.

I’m not gonna dispute your point…I’m just saying that clone wars seems to have Had a pretty dedicated following…I’d say more than the prequels themselves…

And that character hit very well.

In a way…exactly what they tried for…and failed with checkbox Mary Sue…

It was a bit clunky…as anything the empress touches seems to be.

Hire better people…aka fans

What holds filoni back is he thinks George never screwed up…which is the first step to recovery.

But he’s an avid pens fan…so he gets a pass from me 🐧

I'd say they didn't take it far enough, as they never offered the immersion they promised. Instead we got an in-between, budget-cut product. Maybe it wouldn’t have worked even fully fleshed out but I’m skeptical of that.
I mean youre right. Disney took immersion too far while implementing it poorly. It was supposed to be a dinner theater type experience with in universe actors.

Instead it turned into the cashier in a store telling guests who ask for the nearest bathroom how to get to "a refresher".

Fixing ROTR will take an extensive refurbishment. Falcon will be easier though maybe it should be a Han animatronic and not the Hondo Ohnaka character that only those who have seen the animated shows would know who he is anyway. The exterior of the land itself will be very easy to re-theme, however. I do expect the sequel references will be severely toned down within the parks and Lucasfilm once Filoni takes control.
I think it would be an outright waste of time and money to replace all of the characters in rise with the equivalent original trilogy characters.

I'd like to see more Original Trilogy characters for sure, but to me, nothing was more disappointing than the absence of John Williams' score. I actually really like Galaxies Edge, minus the lame video game simulation thing, because I have much better games at home, but it will be instantly better with the addition of the music.

It makes me nervous they have delayed it…
But if rumors are correct…the second season is all filoni retconning and fan service of the stupidity of the sequels…

Which means Kath might have to be gone first…since it undues a lot of the slop of her man boy stud directions.
Did you watch the first season? It was awful.

Rey is huge with kids. Girls especially. Why do you think she’s sticking around?
Had they chosen a male character instead of Rey, the sequels and particularly the sequel characters as a product would have been far more popular.
Very few young boys are going to play with a girl action figure.

That’s the upside…

Thank god they did…because it can be saved instead of sitting in irrelevance forever

I also think it’s a Cheap way to “invest” in studios without major actual cost…reskinning the Star Wars land.

…but they shoulda built better stuff in the last place
I always, and still support that they chose to build an Ambiguity Land.
My issue - as most of us here share - is that it is largely dead and uninhabited.
Adding the OT characters, particularly Vader is long overdue.
Kylo will never have the iconography that Vader has.

SWGE has music. It has foot traffic. It has kinetic energy (through characters in the land).
Walking around I recall sound effects but I don't recall any music playing, no melody. Did I miss that?

I don't count walk-around characters as kinetic energy in a theme park, but I can understand why others might. But by that standard I think Disney could claim to solve any lack of kinetic energy by having some characters walk around. Just sometimes. As budget allows. Which could mean not often.

The John Williams scores don't play in the land because, no one living in a Star Wars universe would have any concept of who John Williams is or does on earth. Han Solo doesn't listen to John Williams on the FM Radio in the Falcon. Luke doesn't listen to John Williams on the jukebox in the cantina.
That doctrinaire, diegetic approach they took is not "the expectation" in themed entertainment/Disney parks. It's logical, for what they were going for, but what they were going for was unusual and guests were not onboard.

So even though it makes absolutely no sense from a historical perspective, or a realism perspective, people want to hear John Williams in Star Wars Land because that's what they associate with Star Wars.
Yes I think guests expecations are shaped by the rest of the park, where there's music playing all over that cannot be explained historically, or dietetically. Because without it, the park could feel lifeless and less fun.

I'm excited to go to the land with the music playing though and see if it feels different.

The emotionless wooden acting.
Just terrible.
I wanted to like it, one of my son's loved Clone Wars when he was little.
We watched all of the Disney sequels and tv series together.
But it just became more and more difficult to get through them.
On second thought…I had forgotten that it was mostly an excuse to do a live action homage to a cartoon show…which was kinda overrated.

I still want the second season for what it supposedly features
