News Gideon's Bakehouse May Be Cooking Up New Venture at Disney Springs

Yeah, it kind of does look like a design I've seen on a skateboard back in the day. Honestly I kind of like it.

And I'll be the one to step out in the minority here, I love the cookies at Gideons, so I'm kind of excited for this. I like my cookies on the softer side, so it's right up my alley. I try to stop whenever the line isn't like 50 people long.
I don’t think you’re in the minority. I think there is an excessively loud minority here that doesn’t like the cookies. I presume they also hate puppies, rainbows, and Betty White.

Savages.

The rest of us have no issue standing in the sun for 45 minutes to be able to buy a cookie or 6. And cake that doesn’t cost $25.

I can walk into my local Crumbl Cookies and get the same doughy, under-baked, over-priced cookie.

I like soft cookies too (I prefer them to crispy cookies) -- I just think they go way overboard on the chocolate chips. Ruins the cookie for me. If I wanted a chocolate bar, I'd get a chocolate bar!

But I don't think you're in the minority considering how popular it is.

Sorry, I meant minority on this board, not in general. But I get that. I will say I've liked the other flavors more than chocolate chip.

The only one I've ever had was the chocolate chip -- it's definitely possible I'd like other flavors more, although I'm not planning to ever wait in a 30 minute long line to buy anything from there so I may never know!

Six Ravens opens later this year, selling old school hand pies and more:

Today is the 5-year anniversary of Gideon’s in Disney Springs, and we’re ready to celebrate with you! It feels like a good day to make an announcement. This year might be our biggest year of growth, and there is one little mystery that people have been asking about. So let me tell you a little story.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A few years ago, we started exploring ideas for something new that met a grab-and-go need in a small space. I will admit that another small shop caused some hesitation, but an idea came to mind that was hard to ignore. What if we created a place that offered up savory delights in collaboration with some of our favorite Central Florida chefs? After all, I got my start at Disney Springs as a secret menu item at the Polite Pig. It’s important to pay it forward and bring more local flavors to the international crowds we meet every day. So with that, I introduce you to Six Ravens. This new concept specializes in a creation we call Coffyns, the original term for an old school hand pie. This fluffy yeast bread is filled with flavors created not only by the talented minds in Gideon’s kitchen but also by some of your favorite Orlando culinary superstars. Combine that with potatoes, local draft beer, and, of course, some tasty desserts, and you will have a fun new place to fuel your park adventures.⁣⁣

Six Ravens opens at Disney Springs later this year. Stay tuned here for details or follow @six.ravens! I’ll eventually start telling you more about our journey and share some behind-the-scenes as we build the stories in this new chapter.

I like the idea of something savory instead of sweet... Looks like it will be great....wonder if it will be open by June...
At this point, shouldn't they just open a full restaurtant themed like the bakehouse in the Tim Burton-esque style? If there was one, I am sure we would eat there... Would be way more interesting than Chicken Guy or Blaze Pizza...

Crumbl uses boxed cake mix to make their cookies…literally seen the Duncan Hines boxes at my local shop. No thanks.
Completely OT, but since my daughter worked at a Crumbl last summer, I asked her about this. She personally made the cookie doughs from flour, sugar, eggs, butter, baking soda, etc. She did say they use “special flavors” from time to time for particular cookies (like Biscoff flavored power) to match a specific flavor. Could it be possible that something labeled Duncan Hines was used in a Crumbl store? Sure. But Crumbl does not use boxed cake mix as the basis to “make their cookies.”

But, needless to say, after one summer of her bringing home extras, I hope I never see another Crumbl cookie.

Would love to see a Greggs Bakery pop-up at Disney selling savoury slices (Fajita Chicken Bake or Steak Bake currently on sale in UK High Streets for £2.60/$3.50; Vegan Bakes 25 cents cheaper and Vegan Sausage Rolls at £1.40/ $1.88). Maybe as a PR stunt Greggs could bid for a food stand in the UK Pavilion at EPCOT during one of the festivals.
