I couldn’t comprehend how they make a mistake after the prequels…the minefield was already marked

I didn’t Do any spoilers prior….so i went in blind. And while I was relieved it didn’t look like attack of the clones first in…it went odd the raids fast.

So probably 5 minutes after…it was clear they did a reboot and everything was on the second movie.

…the rest is history…a Greek tragedy.

But I appreciate the management trying to shame/shout down the old guard in defense…cause it was “our” fault. And many here towed the line…and now have slowly defected and acted like they admitted the truth with the “haters” back then…

…the north remembers
I didn't do much spoiler reading either. I knew they would be bad because I know how Disney runs things.

There isn’t a story…by design…they built ambiguity land to not do what they are now admitting they will have to do. A retrofit that embarrasses the Abrams crap…watch it play
If you think they built “ambiguity land” shouldn’t you be praising it because it would make it easier to do exactly what they’re doing?

Fixing ROTR will take an extensive refurbishment. Falcon will be easier though maybe it should be a Han animatronic and not the Hondo Ohnaka character that only those who have seen the animated shows would know who he is anyway. The exterior of the land itself will be very easy to re-theme, however. I do expect the sequel references will be severely toned down within the parks and Lucasfilm once Filoni takes control.

I am just shocked this is happening. Has anyone speculated about Kathleen Kennedy? Was she part of this decision? Or did this happen after she left?
I think KK was a big part of the focus, to be sure, but she wouldn’t have necessarily have had veto power (that would be Iger and/or Chapek).

By some accounts one of the strongest voices for the locked timeline was Scott Trowbridge. I’m really curious how they got him to go along with this.

I look forward to seeing how “alive” the land feels at Disneyland with these changes.

They have to do the slight land timeline retcon at DHS for the Mando changes coming to MFSR regardless.

Hey, gotta say, completely fair to now have a mix of timelines. Mix of everything for everyone, as it should be. Of course it should’ve been that way to begin with, ‘but’ it’s better late than never. Now to see what happens once it’s fully implemented and what happens going forward.

That’s the upside…

Thank god they did…because it can be saved instead of sitting in irrelevance forever

I also think it’s a Cheap way to “invest” in studios without major actual cost…reskinning the Star Wars land.

…but they shoulda built better stuff in the last place

Everyone said this pre opening that locking into a timeline and not having music was stupid.

Disney took immersion too far.

...

Now we just need the walk around droids, aliens, and the role-playing/interactive elements of the land that never happened (and no the app scanner thing doesn't count).

edit: found an article about budget cuts by the late great Al Lutz, likely one of the last updates he wrote.

I'd say they didn't take it far enough, as they never offered the immersion they promised. Instead we got an in-between, budget-cut product. Maybe it wouldn’t have worked even fully fleshed out but I’m skeptical of that.

That doesn’t mean they won’t eventually change things, especially if these alterations prove popular. There’s also the fact that Star Tours may end up on the chopping block down the road, which would eliminate all other locations for the Darth M&G.
How much would it cost them to move Star Tours into GE? It’s way too iconic to lose imo and it’s one of the last remnants of the original MGM park.

They should set the Millennium Falcon ride during Shadows of the Empire, because Han would NEVER let random people fly the Falcon. Lando piloting it during RotJ was a special circumstance. Then we could have a Lando animatronic instead of Hondo.

I mean, I assume it would basically be similar to the cost to fully rebuild it. They'd probably have to re-theme the queue to a Batuu starport or something, but I can't imagine they'd be super keen to do it. I definitely prefer Star Tours to Smugglers Run, but they're ultimately both simulators with swappable media. If I'm being realistic, I have to imagine they'd want to use Galaxy's Edge expansion space for a more differentiated offering.
